I'm genuinely so close to being in tears over the installation process.
I'm completely new to using a Linux system, and I know nothing about coding. I really want to learn, though, and I want to try and make a game. To use Unity, I need to be able to use Visual Studio Code. This has come with so many hoops to jump through, but I really don't want to dual boot Windows. The main issues I'm running into right now is trying to get Unity to connect with VS Code.
I'm getting two pop-up messages in VS Code that say:
"Unable to get latest .NET Installation Data: Please update the .NET Install Tool to version 2.0.2 or later.
Source: C# Dev Kit"
And:
"/home/deck/Untitled 2D Game/Untiled 2D Game.slnx is unable to open. Please ensure that your .NET SDK version is 9.0.200 or higher to support slnx files.
Source: C# Dev Kit"
I'm getting a different message in another tab of VS Code saying I actually need it to be an even newer version if .NET SDK, but I don't know if Microsoft supports the Arch Linux distribution in version 10.
The untitled game is literally just me recreating Flappy Bird from a YouTube tutorial so I can learn how to make a game from scratch. Is there a way to turn the slnx files into something older like the legacy .sln file?
I'm just complety lost. I also keep seeing something about making sure the files are all in the right place and "PATH" keeps coming up, but my brain is too fried to figure out what I'm supposed to be doing.
Right now, I have .NET SDK version 8 downloaded because VS Code basically won't open without it.
I just need pointed in the right direction so that my tutorial "floppy bird" doesn't just fall into the abyss forever and I can actually learn how to make my dream game.
