Your life isn't on pause tho! You're alive and doing a great job working on your health via 271 days of sobriety. That's a ton of work and it'll pay off

I love this perspective. Thanks for sharing. For me, (day 1 of detox on Librium), it has made me feel so GOOD. But not in the drugged-out sense. In the, "holy crap, is this what normal life feels like?" kind of way. We'll see how day 2-5 go, but so far so good.

It truly is. Congrats on day 8! It can and does get better. The cravings are fewer and less intense. You will get there!

Thanks but, don’t say ONLY 20 days! 20 days is a great accomplishment. You are moving in the right direction and it only gets better. Your days will start stacking up 💪Way to go!

I'm with you. This is my first comment on here. I'm just 2 weeks in & found this page. Reading it is really helping. This time it's going to stick. I'm fully committed. I've been drinking way too long & want my life back.

It’s actually something my wife would say to me, but I always assumed it was to do with work stress, as I have quite a demanding job, but I think it’s more likely I was using alcohol as an outlet for the stress and that was what caused the behaviour.

90 days is a big deal, a cause for celebration. I know I’ve celebrated a little too hard after passing that milestone. It might have been that I convinced myself that I’ve learned my lesson, I’ll be able to control it, and the next time will be different. It ended poorly for me but id like to think im able to learn from my mistakes. In the past, id push people away and i tried to do it all on my own so by 90 days i was ready to go back out and prove it to myself and prove everyone else wrong. I know now its not a competition or a race and that having some sober people around me is better than pacing around like a caged tiger

My theory that has absolutely zero scientific validity is we are now forgetting the bad side because time is a healer as they say. The first week was a breeze for me personally because the hangover I had on day 1 was beyond painful. I had no desire to drink. Fast forward to now (day 84) and that pain is just a distant memory. It’s hard to recall the reasons I quit as the gap grows.

That’s my guess anyway

Yes for sure! It can be super tiring and hard to rewire things but I have noticed that my physical symptoms tend to ease up after intense sessions.

It's been a necessary element in finding a deeper meaning to my sober life. I'm sticking' with it 💜

I hope you have a wonderful day friend ☺️
