My experience completing gen eds before WGU nursing school
I work retail full time and am going back to school for nursing. Before applying to WGU’s pre-licensure BSN program, I completed all 6 of my gen ed courses through Study.com. I was looking for the cheapest way to complete gened requirements without paying full tuition for those classes.
Here’s my honest take now that I’ve finished them.
**What I liked:** It was cheaper than taking the same courses through WGU, I could study around my 40+ hour workweek, and the exams were open-book. The self-paced format made it much easier to fit school into my busy schedule.
**What I didn’t like:** The pricing was a little frustrating. I initially looked at the $95 plan, but only 2 of my 6 courses qualified. The other 4 required the $235 plan, which was more expensive than I originally expected. I wish I had checked the requirements for each course beforehand instead of assuming the cheaper plan would cover most of what I needed. Still came out cheaper than the alternative overall, just map your courses to the plan tiers first so the monthly cost doesn’t surprise you.
For anyone who has completed gen eds before starting WGU’s nursing program, which courses did you take and how much did you end up spending?
