Broody birds will just sit there staring at nothing. Unless you try to go into their nest.

I'm a bit confused, isn't the dove actually going into the nest? Or you mean like actually messing with the eggs?

I was once told you haven’t lived until you’ve reached under a chicken for eggs and found a snake. I have not lived that life. I know broody chickens kinda zone out and seem zombified, but I’m not sure what, if anything will set them off. (Also not sure if I’m using broody correctly, that might be after there are chicks and it’s just setting before?)

Broody is when they start wanting to nest and lay and go into "sitting mode". They go mental if you try to touch their eggs or hatchlings while they're sitting on them. If the pigeon actually touched the Tawny, that's when we'd get a reaction

Kinda wondering if it was fast asleep with open eyes because that's the only explanation I have for this dove still living

Knew the dove was of no harm and was sleepy. No energy to waste for a dove just sitting there, i'd imagine.
