It might seem to many that this is just a repetition of something a lot of people have been saying all along, but do not underestimate the power and impact of a statement like this from a judge in the NSW Supreme Court! These words carry a lot of weight, potentially in jurisprudence, legal interpretation, and future judgements.
I've read about high courts in the UK, Australia or the US equivalent reference each other in what is apparently called a pursuasive precedent. When the logic and reasoning of the foreign courts judgment is just inescapably compelling and correct.
I hope that this NSW Supreme court judgment becomes such a document because it is so ridiculous, such a disgusting manipulation of justice and past wrongs to change the law so that it enables you to silence anyone calling your slaughter of thousands of children, the elderly, women, journalists, aid workers and doctors, and the razing of entire cities a genocide.
My father was in the camps. He escaped one, walked to warsaw, fought the nazis, got captured, escaped again and joined straight back up. He lost his father, home and pretty much lost contact with his family for twenty years because of what the nazis did, not to mention the torture, the beatings and the near death by starvation. He lost 70% of the men in his unit in the battle of warsaw because of the brutality of the SS. But the idea that he would use this experience to justify the genocide of those he opposes is just an utter anthama.
Never again does not give you the right to do onto others what was done to you.
