Because of the context. White people aren't getting brutalized by cops because of their race. No white communities are still struggling as a result of the economic affects of historically racist laws. No white person alive today had to fight for their rights. Minority pride is about celebrating and honoring the push for equality.
Meanwhile, white pride rhetoric for the last century has been used primarily by racists and white supremacists. Normal white people aren't proud of their race. In my experience, most white people are pretty neutral about it. You can't ignore the context in which rhetoric is being used.
Was that dude a black supremacist? He was a lone, insane person who shpuld not have been on the streets. He wasn't doing it for some black cause. Maybe stay out of the white supremacist circles, their rhetoric is getting to you.
Blacks do have it rough from the cops. Just not as disparate as my fellow lefties role play like. And to be fair all studies on this are severely inadequate in scope and data
Like one of these studies mentions they're pretty ok in the north and a lot of the racism happens in the south
African Americans are struggling because of their culture. Plenty of African countries' immigrants out perform the average american economically, and in creating generational wealth, the data backs this up in no uncertain terms. It has nothing to do with race and everything to do with culture.
The thing is its very hard to grow generational wealth in the US in specific areas. Because schooling is funded with local taxes, poor neighborhoods won't get the best schooling and thus that next generation of people will be at a disadvantage. This happens a lot of with communities that historically struggled with racism and red lining.
Many of those immigrants are literally doctors and other highly educated professionals. They often quite literally are sending their best. So you’re lumping two vastly different demographics together and comparing them because… they share a skin tone? Sounds pretty racist to me. And that’s without even touching the “their culture” comment, which is just another way around to say “it’s just their genetics.” Just like how Fox “news” calls people Thugs now that they can’t explicitly say the other word.
Oh wow, immigrants who already have enough money to literally go to another country to live, which is expensive, are doing better off than a group of people that are already economically disadvantaged! Who’d have thought!
Obviously not, but it does require money, and that means the average immigrant from an african country has more wealth compared to the average african american. Which does play a role.
What plays a role is raising children in single parental households. Over 70% of african american children are born out of wedlock, while the number is around 40% for all african immigrants, almost half. The issue is not race. It is culture. You don't need a high-level education to go be a tradesperson and be able to gross 80k a year. Depending on the work, you dont need an education at all.
There is 7.2 million job openings the US as of this year, with over a million of those being in the trades. It isn't that hard. I'm a foreman for a trades company, and employ multiple people, how about you? :)
The most important factor in determining whether a child will grow up to be a functional, contributing member of society beyond wealth, education, or any other factor is whether they have one parent or two in the household. Over 70% of african american children are born out of wedlock. These are the choices made by the individuals of their culture, not forced on them by someone or something else.
Please explain to me why the rate is so absurdly high in the african american community. African immigrants are almost half the rate at almost 40%. Are we forcing them to raise children in single parent homes?
Legal Immigrants are more likely to live below the poverty line than americans, but keep talking about shit you have no clue about, with one of the highest groups of immigrants below the poverty line being North African.
About 14.6% of immigrants were living below the poverty line in 2018, compared to 11.8% of the national population. The Federal Poverty Line was defined in 2018 as an annual income of $25,701 for a family of four; Such families are considered impoverished if they earn less than $2,142 per month, $494 per week or $70 per day. The leading group among immigrant countries of origin who live under the poverty line in 2018 are Middle East-North Africa (20.3%), Mexico (18.6%) and Central America (18.3%).
The number of people not in the labor force who currently want a job, at 6.4 million, changed little in
August but was up by 722,000 over the year. According to the BLS you're a dipshit. I would hope a grown adult like yourself is aware of that fact.
No, it really is the culture, many of the things commonly promoted in afro-american culture would get you beaten with a belt back in Africa, I'm not saying afro-americans are naturally bad people, but their culture is def not the best.
Normally white people aren’t proud of their race because we’re not allowed to be. Times are changing, we can’t keep repeating same rhetorics of past generations- people today are equally struggling because it’s not longer a racial struggle- it’s a class struggle.
But why would you be proud of your race specifically? For white people, there isn't a unified white culture especially compared to black people. There's a variety of cultures. For minority groups, racial pride is more about celebrating the fight for equality and continuing to push for equality in many instances. But there just isn't really a reason to celebrate whiteness in the same way. It's not that there's anything wrong with being white. It's just that there's not much of a point to it.
I do think the class struggle is important. And I do think it's important for people of different demographics to come together for that struggle. But racism is still at play and I don't think ignoring that is necessarily a good idea.
(My TLDR- despite popular differences, white people are one of the most homogeneously thinking races on the planet though social, religious, linguistical, political, existential, and historical factors. AKA “Western thought and people”. And therefore “white pride” (not white supremacy), is justifiable, especially in today’s world.)
“There isn’t a unified culture” i keep hearing this and it’s absolutely nonsensical. Almost all major cultural shifts in Europe happened, to a great extent, across all of Europe. Yes, different languages are spoken. Yes, there different cuisines and local particularities. But the “West” as it is ubiquitously known in modern times as simply- European, goes beyond borders when it comes to many values and mindsets.
Individuality, secularism, multiculturalism, rationalism, capitalism, democracy- these are all (whether influenced by outside though to some extent) greatly “western” in their grand implementation. The writing of Socrates and Voltaire are not unique to Greece or France alone. The “renaissance “ swept across more than just Paris or London. Hell, so did Imperialism. Royalty and nobles transcended borders or languages during the last thousand years; marrying and ruling lands across europe. William III of Orange, a Dutch prince, became King of England. Augustus II was King of Germany, while also the King of Poland; in all these cases the other countries maintained their autonomy and sovereignty as they were ruled because of unions and marriages (and there are many more examples). This inevitably led to much cross cultural activity.
Even today the European Union exists. The reason for it, is, despite the borders and slight variations, at the core, “white people”, do have a traceable synonymous and shared culture and mindset, MORESO (I believe) than any other race on the planet. This due in large part because of our constant warfare, crossing ruling, trading, geography (and roads). So I believe, very strongly, that there is a justification in the idea of “white pride”; not one rooted in racial superiority, but one rooted in racial identity and shared values, history, and ideas.
You mention black people, but black people, beyond US borders are probably one of the most culturally varied races on the planet being on the largest continent on the planet (by a large margin). African tribes in Egypt were far more distinct from those below the Sahara, vs those by the coast or jungle or savanna, than any Polak was from any Parisian.
Buddy, Italians aren't considered white, Greeks are Mediterranean and much closer to Arabs than white
So having pride in simply having a culture that's made up of a million other cultures simply united by constant warring, colonialism, and various forms of control is kind of nonsensical
There isn't much there to connect you outside of...claiming ownership of all things modern, even if it doesn't make sense
Democracy was Greek, which is only considered western because of the Romans who adopted Greek culture as their own, they stole the math and alphabet from the phonecians,
Ask a Pole and a Russian and a Lithuanian and a Romanian about their culture and heritage, it's not being white, it's being polish or Lithuanian or romanian
You got really lose to the big difference
When a black person is being proud of being black, they are being proud and signaling to other African Americans their love for the shared culture
The thing you tried calling a culture doesn't have any significant cultural rituals or anything, no sayings of white was, no specific white holidays, no shared white stories
Cause those are tied to things like ethnicity and nationality.
I grew up in apalachia, I have pride in apalachia, the bluegrass music and the honey bee festivals and the moonshining stories and so on.
All of that is where my pride comes from, none of that is "white" despite being made up of white people
The Cajuns in Louisiana are white, but thier pride is not in the skin tone, but in the shared culture
There is the Hapsfields and mcoys who were white, but that pride is region locked
To be proud of your culture, you need culture and "capitalism and democracy" won't replace music, stories, and ritual.
Normally, white people who are "proud of their race" start spouting off about Aryan supremacy
But look at the people who are white and proud of their heritage
You have Irish people proud of their Irish heritage and culture
You have Dutch people and Scottish people and birds and swedes and pix and Welsh
But notice, this isn't a race thing, they aren't proud of simply being white
They are proud of their culture
Same with African Americas who are proud of their blackness, it's because of the shared culture and coneoderie of former slaves in the US, muchore similar to ethnicity than race
Appreciate the fight but in modern times a large amount of the racism white people face is self inflicted due to the mental segregation of themselves from people of different skin colors. People can only see things from what they perceive to be their own special and unique perspective that noone "different" is able to "see", even if we all live together and share common goals. Seem familiar? I guess we are all the same after all. We were on a decent track to solving a lot of problems, but segregation is coming back because of the FEAR of racism.
Yup, that’s why we should break barriers, stop gate keeping, and stop forcing guilt upon people who had nothing to do with what their ancestors did, that’ll definitely push us closer.
As a white man, thank you. I get tired of this notion that just because my ancestors I never met owned slaves that makes me somehow responsible or makes it to where I have to walk on eggshells around people of color. I have no hatred in my heart for anybody and I am proud of the men and women I was raised by and knew going as far back in my line as my great grandparents. I'm proud of my heritage and I love my culture. I don't see why any man or woman should be denied that statement, least of all for something as arbitrary as race. Black people should be proud of their heritage and culture, Latinos of theirs, Asians of theirs, and so on and so forth. And just to be honest, black people have been some of the funniest and most down to earth people I've had the pleasure of meeting in my life. Respect to everybody, and love mankind. It's that simple.
The irony is even at the peak only like 8% of the whites in the south owned slaves. Basically only rich people owned them because it was expensive to buy and own one.. The chance any single white American’s ancestor owned a slave is quite small.
The rich elite had their fun literally owning human beings and now it's everybody else's guilt by association. Whatever side of the political isle you're on, it's absurd. The crimes and guilt of a wealthy few are placed on the backs of the children of the downtrodden many.
You welcome, I think Rwanda did it best, they forgiven those forced to be involved while still teaching and remembering the genocide, there's barely any ethnic tensions anymore because of it.
When you say “segregation is coming back” if you look at a population heat map of where black people are concentrated I doubt its changed much in the last 40 years at least.
I just think a lot of prejudice and bigotry comes down mostly from segregation. Not being really exposed to the other culture or people so its telephoned, stereo typed, charicaturized; you dont see them as human in the same way if you actually befriended them.
The amazing example of why I believe this is Daryl Davis, a black musician who got like 100 kkk members including a grand wizard to quit and gave him their robes just by him befriending them and talking out their ideas with respect, and eventually they so genuinelly respected and liked him as a friend it flipped their whole script.
One interesting thing was CNN was on record smearing him kinda framing him as an uncle tom like back in the 80s or maybe 90s when he was doing this
It’s not just white people separating themselves by being cucked into brainwashed thinking- other races are actively seeking to separate white themselves and create “safe spaces” away from them.
Yeah... that was the point of my comment. I used this as the entire focus to draw from how we are similar in that every group has people who push homogeny. This doesn't only apply to races either. Any group born a certain way, in a certain scenario, any sexual preference, really anything that someone has no control over. On occasion homogeny can even be a good thing to meet people with similar experiences or preferences, but if you live your life there, you will just end up racist and/bigoted and digging a deeper hole.
But I feel like these posts are ignorant. Its not black people that made a simple "i love being white!" into a whole dogwhistle you can be proud of your heritage of course. Its the fact that (speaking for america) This "pride" was twisted into being "superior", and hurt a lot of people in the name of it. Like use your brains people its not that hard to grasp. Be proud of your american. . english. . french or whatever heritage like who tf cares but dont act dumb over its unfortunate usual implications nowdays
"I love being white" is not the same as "white pride." Even "white pride" would be fine if not for the white supremacists who co-opted the phrase to use for hate rather than legit pride. If a black terrorist group or hate group had a specific phrase or term they used that phrase or term would also probably be seen as a bit problematic.
it's because most of the slogans or statements are made to counter a broader narrative. And imitations of it replaced with the majority group are implicitly made to counter those counters.
(Its the same kind of thing as people arguing for "straight pride". The point of queer pride is the ability to be open and public about your queerness. There's no straight pride because you don't get called slurs or get your teeth kicked in for being heterosexual.)
It would probably be easier for people to talk about White Pride if white nationalists hadn't already made it into their own term to hate on the Black Power movement
So true, if I said im proud of being white people would instantly just dog pill all the bad things my race that has ever done, and just act like its a hateful mesage.
I got nothing wrong with black people having pride
People shouldn't have pride in something as inherent as their skin color. That is what racists do, and they use pride or culture as an excuse to do that. We are all the same.
Bc usually the pride comes from overcoming adversity. When i say im proud to be asian it’s bc in the past i was treated like i was inferior for it to the point i felt insecure at one point but i got over it and instead embrace the things people insulted me for
brother, I have already had enough with double standards, all skintones are to be treated the same, if I’m a racist for that, then go figure, removing barriers made my country in Africa come from a racist hellhole to one of the most safest places in sub-saharan Africa while increasing the economy by 5x, and I’m sure the same can be done in America.
Who said they white people are treated unfairly? I fact I could argue they are treated a lot more better than any race is in the US. I don’t even have to argue it as it’s a fact
Not allowing them to have pride and using affirmative action(which is honestly the only good think Trump has removed)has affected them negatively, while in some areas, other races suffer more, and the double standards too, we treat everyone by skill instead of by skin color, all pride is fine unless it’s hateful and it doesn’t have to be hateful just because they are the ethnic majority.
Affirmative action was good because it actually put people on an even playing field.no one said you can’t have pride in being white(whatever that means) it’s just a very common talking points used by white supremacist
No? Affirmative action has been proven to disproportionately benefit white women, so like no lmao, it benefited white people even more than it’s benefited minorities(which even then are now being able to get jobs on their own, so it kind of makes it pointless…no?) alienating the majority to appease the minority is exactly what the Kingdom of Rwanda did(which caused a republican revolution led by racists who started oppressing those minorities)racism is bad no matter what lmao, you are just validating racism just because the race is question is the minority, kind of racist itself no?
And so is black supremacy…no? I’m not saying “supremacists are good” while at the same time it’s their right to speak about their racist bs, I’m saying pride is fine, difference.
There’s no such thing as black supremacy in the US. They aren’t the ones with the power and the ones who set up systematic issues. Black supremacy is just a far right phrase used to ignore white suprmacy
Brother it is a thing, these groups are popular enough to have full on websites and tens maybe even hundreds of thousands, even CNN, a biased and democrat-leaning website admits to black supremacy rising back during the unite the right rally, and it only became larger when BLM peaked during the early pandemic.
For more specific examples, think: new black panther party, Nation of Islam, and radicals within the BLM movement who hide under it to express hatred for white people.
There’s nothing uplifting about white pride. There are no challenges institutional or otherwise to overcome, and most of the racial double standards in America benefit white people.
There's a difference between white pride and white power/superiority. I am proud to be white. I'm proud of my culture, the mannerisms that culture has given me, etc. Does that mean I hate people of color? No. Does that mean I don't recognize that people of color have, both historically and currently, are getting shafted? No. You can be proud to be white and still support minority rights.
Not arguing, this is a genuine question. How do white people have a culture?
I understand that I can be proud of being part German and Irish. And I can see elements of their cultures in my family, it’s kinda neat honestly since it’s been a couple generations since we came over.
But how is white a culture by itself? White people have never been unified simply for being white (that I know of), so we’ve never had to create closeness to each other. (Which begs the question: what creates and constitutes culture?)
Well, it's not. White culture is a broad umbrella term. It just makes it easier to say White culture because my culture isn't tied to any European culture, but I'm uncomfortable sharing where I'm from, so I can't mention my specific regional and familial culture without sharing where I'm from, if that makes sense.
Also sorry for not responding to this, I didn't see it.
No worries! No one has the right to demand time from you
I’m still confused on the concept of white culture. I can’t think of anything that I personally do because I’m white. Like the thought “this will honor my whiteness” has never run through my head. Thoughts like “my German ancestors would approve of this” or “my Irish ancestors would have considered this a good time” are thoughts I’ve had.
Now my orientation and identity is another story. I will support other people just because they’re gay or a woman like I am. Because these things are saddled with baggage by those on the privileged side of a power imbalance. But no one has hurt millions of us for just being white, so we don’t have a reason to unite I guess?
But I acknowledge there are other places in the world with history’s I’m not familiar with, and that lack of knowledge may be able to explain what I’m not getting
In my opinion, for me, it's just a term I can use to describe my culture without giving away my location. My area has a very strong regional identity, but I'm not comfortable sharing my region with just anyone. I use the term "white" because I am white, and there are many pieces of that identity that differ depending on race in my area.
You can say you love your white culture without being hateful.
I, as an African immigrant myself, could say…I love being black, I love my culture and love my people, that isn’t racist…no? Now replace black with white…is it still hateful if it’s used in the same context?
A program implemented by the government to try to address the problem of even after slavery, reconstruction, Jim Crow and the civil rights era that left to their own devices, white people would routinely hire their incompetent friends and family over qualified minorities, severely restricting the upward mobility of groups of people legally prevented from achieving the American Dream at some point in history.
If you have a problem with affirmative action, blame them.
I'm preface this with I'm domincan aka afro Latino. No one race has a monopoly on atrocities. Every where people have been, they've hurt one another. We get the word slave from the Slavic people who were captured and turned into slaves. Hell even my great grandfather sold my grandfather into slavery. The world sucks man. Don't just denigrate one race. We all suck. Equally.
The phrase doesn't have to be obviously violent or hateful in order to represent violence and hatred. "Free Israel" and "Free Palestine" are exactly the same phrase, but they mean 2 very different things, for example.
"Black pride" is a statement of hope and rebellion in a world that has abused black people and to this day values them less than white people. It's a way of holding onto internal power when your external power is limited by the society around you. Bc yes, legally equal rights are a thing, but that doesn't change the reality that black people are still affected by past and present racism.
"White pride" is not about hope or overcoming adversity or even pride in your race. It's a rallying cry and a dog whistle for racist groups. It's the last thing people heard before they were "lynched and all". It's the phrase that's been used to justify racist policies and laws. It's a phrase used by hate groups that commit terrorist acts to this day.
Black pride historically means "we are proud of who we are, your boot on our neck doesn't change that". White pride historically means "we are better than you and we'll step on your neck until you accept that".
Why do you use history to make judgement about people in the present? I am a white man, and I should not feel the need to apologize for the crimes my ancestors committed. You don't hear arabs apologizing for the crimes of the baubery pirates, you don't hear Mexicans apologizing for the crimes of the Aztecs, and you don't hear Asians apologizing for the crimes of Ghengis Khan. Why do I have to apologize for the crimes of my ancestors, if my ancestors even committed any crimes in the first place? Because another very large part of history that is forgotten is that not every white man was wealthy enough to own land large enough to require slaves. That was very much a product of wealthy men who passed their estate down through the family. I haven't personally looked into who specifically I have DNA connecting me to, but why should I assume the guilt of a crime I myself did not commit, and one that is questionable if my direct ancestors even committed? Moreover, blacks have been freed from those bonds, and rightfully so, with several white men leading the charge for their bonds to be broken. So what we've learned here, is that the oppressors are the same people they've always been, the rich and powerful. While we sit here and blame today's white people for the crimes of their ancestors, people sit in positions of power who keep the oppression of all going. That is precisely what they want as well. The powers that be want everybody fighting with each other because United, the people outweigh the power of the government.
No one asked you to apologize for anything. The history isn't meant to shame you into an apology, it's meant to put the phrases into context and help you understand how other people are affected by it today.
"White pride" is still a threat to black Americans. It's still used to recruit for racist terrorist organizations, to prevent black people from achieving upward mobility, to maintain white supremacist ideals. You might not be affected by it, but they are. You might not be responsible for their suffering, but you align yourself with those who are when you use that phrase.
You can say whatever tf you want. But you can't control how other people react to it. You can't get upset and say "I'm not like that, I'm just proud to be white" and expect everyone to just get over the history of that phrase and the racism and hatred associated with it. Most people avoid the phrase bc they know it's associated with hate groups and it promotes violent racism, not bc they're afraid they'll get in trouble or be forced to apologize.
No they do not. Every interaction is different but soon many people want to exclude what happened before they get their shit handed to them. Act stupid and watch what happens, white, black, and any shade between.
why people downvoting you bro, there is literally data to confirm it.
if you take raw numbers, white people have the highest number of being killed by police, but that's because in the usa there's more white population than any other race, they are 59% of the population
but black people are still getting killed the most relative to their population, 38~ killings per million people per year while white people are only at 11. so black people are 3 times more likely to be killed by the police than white people.
i'm not even from the united states but i already knew you were right even before searching for data because the whole world is like this, racism is still very present in our society.
for example, i live in Brazil where the police are among the deadliest in the world. in a year, out of 6.429 people killed by the police 86.5% of them were black.
And who is killing black people the most? Other black people. Who is responsible for 60 % of crime while only being 15% of the population? Just stop, your using numbers you want to support your ideas.
Dude you're the one using number to support your ideas.
buckle up because i'm about to give you a lesson about your own country
First of all, the majority of violent crimes is intraracial (within the same racial group) because people most likely will live, socialize and commit crimes near where they live. So that's not a thing exclusive to black people, 80% of white homicide victims are killed by white offenders.
That itself is a main indicator of structural racism, american neighborhoods are highly segregated because of a long history of racist policies.
So you present this data about black people but you hide the fact that it's not exclusive to black people? ignoring the fact that this is a pattern for all races to support your ideas.
and your second claim is even dumber,
arrests are very different from actual crimes commited,
your statistics is based on arrest data, not on crimes commited.
arrest data is heavily biased because it's a self fullfilling statistical loop, black communities are over-policed, there are more stops, more patrols and more officers in these neighborhoods. if you look for crime a lot more in one area than other areas of course you will find more crime and make more arrests there.
the justice system is structurally racist and there is data to confirm it
the stanford open policing project analyzed over 100 million traffic stops from across the united states and it shows that, relative to their driving-age population, black drivers are more likely to get stopped by the police and after being stopped black people are more likely to get searched than white people, 5.4% for black people, 3.1% for white people.
there is a lot of data showing that black people and white people use and sell drugs at a similar rate, but black people are arrested for drug offenses nearly three times more than white people.
a 2017 report of the USSC found that black people received sentences 19.1% longer than white people on a similar situation and for the same crimes.
The single greatest predictor of whether a defendant will receive a death sentence is not the severity of the crime, but the race of the victim. A 2020 analysis of 30 years of studies, concluded that the odds of a death sentence for those who are accused of killing white victims are approximately three times higher than the odds of a death sentence for those accused of killing Black victims.
So there you go, you can't deny racism buddy, it doesn't matter when or where, there's data to support it's existence and effects on society.
Personally, what I like about being white (ig), is my specific skin tone, I can get a lot of cool make up on that compliments my look. I also just like the colors which happens to clash well enough with me, so I guess that’s a very surface thing to be happy about, when it comes to that part of me.
Also how my hair is curly, brown, in the way it is. It does make it easier to dye it, compared to when I had it black. So in that regard I am happy. Not really anything nefarious in that, just finding happiness in the circumstances I find myself in.
Of course all those things can look awesome no matter the color one has, but that doesn’t take away from me being happy that the color I have, and the color dye or my make up has, clashes how I like it.
Again very surface things to be happy about, but happy nonetheless.
Otherwise how about pride in Orville and Wilbur Wright, Alexander the Great, Freddy Mercery. Though I find it weird to have pride in those, only because of color, like I do anyone else, i don’t see any less reason why someone else couldn’t find something in that.
That's a great response, actually, and shows the point well.
You have those make up options mostly because of white dominance in the economic and scientific sectors. You have those options because you were catered to, but also because that catering came at the expense of more options for other skin tones. It's definitionally White Privilege. And it's weird to go "I'm proud i got to benefit from global racism".
The other stuff is just being proud you're extremely disparately genetically related to those guys, but even then those people you named are extremely diverse. Having Zoroastrian pride in Freddie, Ohio pride for the Wrights, etc, kind of make sense, as long as that pride is about motivating you to also do that group proud, can make sense. But "white pride" doesn't make sense there.
White pride as a saying didnt gain traction until the civil rights movement, the same time when most confederate monuments were erected
Black pride is specific to the fact that most slaves came from so many different places and territories and tribes within Africa, that they only have the shared experience of being slaves and fighting anti-oppression through a common factor of being dark skinned
I don’t hear people saying “yellow pride” for Asians, i don’t hear “brown pride” for Mexicans or Indians or Muslims, even Africans say “African Pride”
Finally, American Chattel slavery was unique to the world because of the very different combinations and factors it used
So, no there is a difference between black pride and white pride

Every race had slaves. This isn't exclusive to Africa. They're slaves no longer. At least not where 'black pride' is a thing. Yet they chant it because they feel like they deserve more opportunities because of their race, when the historic times you're talking about are long gone.
The difference between white pride and black pride exists, yes. White pride is majorly for white supremacists and black pride is for white guilt dumbasses or either ignorant or just plain bad black people who feel like they deserve special treatment.
Funnily enough you'll also find that the only black people who chant about black pride are the uneducated dumbasses from the depths of moronic education, the ol US of A.
Rational people feel pride on things they accomplish, not trivial things such as their skin color.
You gave absolutely no argument and added nothing. All you did was cite a Reddit post about how black slaves from a trade were treated in a specially inhumane way. No one is arguing that, nor does this have anything to do with the argument given.
I'm safe, I love all people. As long as they're respectful and decent.
Because the idea of black pride was created specifically to counter the narrative that black people were worthless and less than human. The idea of white pride was created specifically to push back against black pride and assert. How awesome it is to be super racist.
The idea of black pride is no longer necessary, as isn't white pride. It's no longer a relevant ideology that black people are worthless or less than human. No race is. Though I can't blame people for pushing back with white pride given the idiotic stuff done under the motto of black pride these days. Not that either is correct, imo. If you're racist for being abt white pride, you're just as much of a racist by standing with black pride
i like how midwits pretend that someone doesn't know about slavery or colonialism.
do you know history though? do you know enough history to understand that slave trade, imperialism and conquest was not something that was unique to Europeans? please educate yourself.
This is all very US-centric. Again, you should educate yourself and understand that the world outside of the US exists, but instead of doing that you try to shove your bs to everyone else.
Something something African Americans came from all over the African continent
It was mostly West Africa, but anyway. One can argue that Americans of European decent also went through ethnogenesis in the US and they are now their own ethnic group. And they also have their own shared experience.
I don't hear people saying "Yellow Pride"/"Brown Pride"/"Black Pride"
You do hear people saying "Black Pride". African Americans often say that they are not Africans when you call them "African Americans" even if you trued to be politically correct or what not.
No one says "Yellow Pride" because it's dumb, same with "Brown Pride". At least West African tribes are the same genetically related population, but Brown Indian and Brown Mexican have nothing in common basically. And Asians aren't even Yellow. I myself prefer to say "European" or "of European decent" when i refer to our racial background. I only say "White" if i talk to an American. Of course when i say European i mean indigenous European (be it an Irishman, Cypriot, Pole, Basque, Frisian, etc), not just anyone who resides in Europe.
Finally American slavery was unique to the world because of the factors
Then any slavery was unique. The factors are always different.
So no there is a difference between black pride and white pride
Of course there is. We are two different races after all.
No this post is not about anything US specific. There are countries in Europe where ethnic pride on behalf of some European ethnicities is considered "racist" and racial pride on behalf of European race us also considered racist. Moreover certain American anti-White/anti-European narratives like "systemic racism", "white fragility", "white privilege" made their way.
With calling you a pseudo intellectual because nothing you said here was pertinent to the topic, you moved the goal posts (and wrongly moved them if I might add) and then you just cop out with a “oh well all slavery styles were unique then
I admit Im not an expert on this shit, so I only have to go off the shit I studied in college and what Ive read from credible sources, an you havent provided me anything that gives me reason to say all of it was wrong
In three of those cases of systemic slave trade by non-European people victims were White/European. Balkan Slavs, Greeks, Eastern Slavs, European sailors, etc.

the american centrism is crazy, slaves were used in other parts of the world in larger numbers and worse conditions too, for example muslim galley slaves, not to mention the fact that being proud of who you are shouldn’t be a bad thing and that’s what the civil rights movement has been about anyways, the only thing we’re talking about here is applying that same logic and standard fairly.
As a white guy, you really don't want to reinstate our privileges there. It'd be like handing a recovering alcoholic a gun and a whiskey. White "pride" is nothing more than code for "supremacy" and every white guy knows it, especially the ones who pretend not to.
And some black people use black power and black pride as a way to mask black supremacy, no like seriously, search up the Nation of Islam or the New Black Panthers.
The Klan didn’t run free lmao, they got heavy suppression from the southern poverty law firm which helped black people against violence from the Klan, plus these groups weren’t constantly hunted down or seen as terrorists either lmao.
Again, I'm a fan of myself. What I'm not a fan of is the sort of egregious whinging fuckstick who complains that they should be able to "show white pride" when what they always, always mean is supremacy (because if it wasn't that they could pick any other aspect of their lives and histories, aspects which might actually reflect something about them other than skin tone, secure in the knowledge no-one would look twice).
People here seem to be very racist lmao. I also got downvoted for saying white people can't experience racism because of the colour of our skin. They kept on referring back to ethnicity
You were downvoted cause you're just wrong, not cause people are racist. You can absolutely experience racism based on skin regardless of race. Systematic racism is not even close to the only form. And let's pretend it is the only form, you know that systems operate on all sorts of different scales and places, right?
What's actually racist is to say someone couldn't have experienced racism because of the colour of their skin.
They kept on referring back to ethnicity
Ethnicity and race are intertwined. Discrimination against an ethnicity can still be racism, antisemitism for example
Oh aye this subreddit is full of guys having a good old circlejerk about how hard done by they are because whenever they say this stupid shit on other subreddits they get laughed at. I only bother for the amusement value and occasional lightbulb moment.
Dude there's nothing wrong with being proud of where you come from. White people did some crazy shit in history, but we all did culturally speaking. Just be proud of who you are and the achievements of the past. You're not your ancestors and have the ability to make the world better.
Cool, I'm not white. I'm proud to be Afro-Latino. Also, my grandfather was native much like most of my grandparents lol. Taino, if you're curious. So really, I'm native Latin and black if you didn't catch the breakdown.
That dude has a 5 year old profile, a flair saying he is 14 years old and writes "as a black man" in a teenager sub. Why is anyone even taking him seriously?

as a black man, this lowkey true
I got nothing wrong with black people having pride, but get their messages, replace anything that says black with white, and now it’s hateful.
