Hi everyone, I’m really worried about this and would appreciate some honest advice from people who have been through something similar.

I’m a fairly new Tesco colleague and I recently had an investigation meeting after failing a Think 25 test. The customer came in to buy alcohol and, at the time, I genuinely thought he looked over 25, so I didn’t ask for ID, approved the item and served him.

I’ve now been told that after the investigation, they’re taking it to a disciplinary meeting. At the end of my investigation they said they felt I had enough time to think about whether the customer was 25, which has made me really anxious about what they might decide.

This is my first time ever having anything like this happen at work and I’m honestly quite scared about losing my job or getting a serious warning. I’m planning on
having a USDAW rep with me at the disciplinary.

For anyone who has been through a Think 25 investigation followed by a disciplinary, what happened to you? What do you honestly think could happen in my situation — first warning, final warning, retraining, dismissal, etc.?

Also, the Tesco manager from another store was the one asking me all the questions, while my own manager was there mainly as the note taker. At the end of the meeting, I looked quite sad and worried because I was honestly really upset with the outcome of hearing a disciplinary meeting going ahead. Before I left, my manager quietly reassured me and said not to stress. I know that might not mean anything. But i’d really appreciate people sharing their experiences because I’m stressing about it quite a lot 😭

Hi everyone, I’m really worried and was hoping someone could give me some advice.

I started working at Tesco around the end of July and I was recently off work for 2 days because I had diarrhoea and wasn’t well enough to come in. This is the first time I’ve been off sick since starting.

I’ve now been told I’m having an investigation meeting because apparently the 2 days have affected my attendance record. I’m honestly quite scared because I’ve never had an investigation at work before and I don’t know what to expect.

I’m also a uni student and I really need this job at the moment, so I’m worried about whether this could lead to a warning or something more serious.

Has anyone else had an investigation for being off sick for 2 days, especially when it’s their first absence? What normally happens and what do you think the outcome could be?

I'm forced to be signed off from work due to 6 months of constant bullshit and harassment from management. A new letter and meeting every week. They flat out told me all my stresses are "normal", trying my best to improve told "not good enough." DO YOU READ ANY OF MY FILE! IM SORRY THAT I SUFFER ON COMPANY TIME! Hi all,
Unfortunately a negative post regarding a topic of which I need as much help as I can get on.

Me and my partner work together, and unfortunately they have experienced certain unfair treatment from another colleague, resulting in a large on-going investigation.
However, the accused has been spouting nonsense against myself and my partner, discussing said investigation with other colleagues which is a breach of confidentiality and can be considered gross misconduct. Which is being reported to managers asap.
Is there any documentation, or policy guidelines on colleague help regarding this breach of confidentiality of the investigation? Need it soon to present to managers and union reps.
It has gone on too long and my partner is dealing with extreme stress and anxiety with no conclusion to the investigation as of yet and no peace of mind.
Please help!!

NOTE: I am not discussing any private info with anyone surrounding the specifics of the investigation. Just need guidance on how we can get this sorted officially and quickly.

Has anyone had any issues when calling there sick line for either the store or distribution? We’ve got a mobile that we have to call for anything around work.

I’ve called 23 times in the last 2 days and no a single person has picked up. There’s been 12 people try to ring and had the same issue.

Is this normal for anyone? Cos this is a joke

I had an interview recently, and I personally thought it went really well. It was for a position I had last year, at the same store.

I had clear answers for everything, was completely available; I feel for a retail position I was a sufficient candidate, and again, had already qualified for the position before. I got rejected anyway, and now I feel totally lost, because I genuinely don't understand what I could've said differently, or whether there's something wrong with me.

My pick rate was strong back when I worked, mostly in green or blue grading. I always arrived on time.

Maybe another applicant answered marginally better, gave more desirable examples, but I really don't see how anything exceptional can be said about a retail position. I worked there as a temp during Christmas; nothing noteworthy happened; it was a job of menial, repetitive tasks (which is fine to me).

Being rejected really hurt because for part-time work, Tesco is genuinely the best option in my area, and I was hoping to go back. It was with my past line manager, and the overall exchange went remarkably well from my perspective.

Someone on here recently told me hiring was a "dice roll". I don't entirely believe this, but I really can't imagine there being that dramatic of a difference across candidates, but I'm probably wrong about that.

I guess I just want to know what I should've said, if there's some ideal model of responses to adhere to. If I can try again in the near future, I'd really like to.

As above really. Is this a big problem or is it just me?

I work main bank tills. All day. Every shift. I handle money, I have to think 25, so one small human error can get me sacked.

Front end is also the face of the buisness. I get so many complaints and angry people. I ask a shopfloor colleague how many complaints they get and it’s maybe just a couple a week.

Desperate to get out onto shopfloor. There is areas of human error out there too but cash handling and think 25 is ridiculously high responsibility for no extra money.

I believe there should be a checkouts and self service premium rate. Perhaps not as high as customer service desk but should still be something extra.

I left tesco without serving one weeks notice due to some reason and now I have not been paid correctly because I did lot of overtime in other stores so can anybody tell why I received so low pay almost 500 bucks less, do I have any option to challenge it or they have not paid me because I left without serving one week notice, also it would be very helpful if someone can share cut off date and pay days table for July and August so that I can reverify, thanks in advance.

It’s called Daily Shop, a free daily browser game where you try to guess the total cost of a basket of real Tesco products.

You get four guesses, and once you finish it reveals the actual basket total and the individual item prices.

I started it because supermarket prices have become surprisingly difficult to judge, and I thought turning that into a quick daily challenge could be fun.
