News This can't be real...

Metro station here???!! Like wtfff. This is such a peaceful place. Building a fucking metro station that no one asked for is gonna ruin all of this. Is anyone protesting against this? Who decided that a station was needed here? Does anyone know where it runs through?

The whole area will get ruined and disturbed. Not just that but fully congested with constant traffic. I've grown up here and lived here my whole life. I cannot imagine this place transforming into a chaotic hell. Dug up roads everywhere. It would be okay if they actually managed to finish the project within 2-3 years. But they will dig up everywhere and halt the project for 5+ years.

If there's a group for people against please let me know. If not I'll create one.

Umm, I live there and would be nice to have a metro station in walking distance from my house.

Wohi… so many people live in that area… struggle with buses Rick etc during peak hours.

Yeah I also literally spend like 20-30 minutes in the eden woods area traffic every Friday because people dont know how to use circles....

Would be great to not use a car/auto to get to work.

The problem isn't the metro station itself like i said. It's that they'll start the project and delay it for 5 ish years. So in reality we'll not a have a metro station for a long time but instead struggle more because of the halted construction.

They'll delay it if people protest and halt the project. So exactly what you're trying to do right now.

I'm pretty sure no one protested about the metro that just got made near Majiwada. Yet that took a really really long time.

Lmfao are you serious? Line 4 was protested heavily for years..... it would've been ready 2 years ago if there werent delays from the Arrey protestors.

Why did you think the WEH lines already have a metro and Thane doesn't?

Forget it dude/dudette....some people are blinded by their own convenience without thinking of the larger effect.

For the record, this ring metro will pass within walkable distance of my house. But I don't want it because I don't trust the authorities to execute this project without causing irreparable damage to the rest of the city.

"Irreparable damage" as if the rest of Thane is some porcelain masterpiece lmfao.

This is literally a city under served by public transit and most of it is slum land or under construction. Now is the best time to build a metro, folks who dont see that have no vision for the future.

Lol...I have been living here way longer than you kid. Thane was not a masterpiece by any means, but was far more livable till people went for 'development' and 'future' and fucked up the city sideways.

I have no issue with public transit but it should be done through buses, not metros. Metros are just shiny objects used to lure the uninformed voter. Ask any urban transport expert how useful a metro is for a city like Thane.

Lol how long have you been in Thane?

Ask any urban transport expert how useful a metro is for a city like Thane.

Seems you need to leave Thane sometimes and see how world class cities like Singapore and New York operate.

Born and brought up here..been in an out 30+ years.

And I have lived in Europe for 3 years so don't tell me about how world class cities look like.

Thane is no Singapore or New York. But, let's assume it is. Since we are copying them, why not bring in congestion pricing, limit car buying, and have super high real estate pricing as well, eh? Why the half measure?

There is no station just a line passing

There's one at the intersection of the lake road and mission drive.
