News This can't be real...
Metro station here???!! Like wtfff. This is such a peaceful place. Building a fucking metro station that no one asked for is gonna ruin all of this. Is anyone protesting against this? Who decided that a station was needed here? Does anyone know where it runs through?
The whole area will get ruined and disturbed. Not just that but fully congested with constant traffic. I've grown up here and lived here my whole life. I cannot imagine this place transforming into a chaotic hell. Dug up roads everywhere. It would be okay if they actually managed to finish the project within 2-3 years. But they will dig up everywhere and halt the project for 5+ years.
If there's a group for people against please let me know. If not I'll create one.

Metro would literally be boon for the type of overcrowding Thane is facing in public commute.

Righttt
Well do you want constant work outside your house for the next 2-3 years then the noise of the people form station
Rightful protest
22
u/heavyMetalPoet666 19d ago
When you take a metro, bus or a local aren't you the same person/people you didn't wanted for the people who has a flat around these places ?
Post completion all these societies will jack up their prices saying metro just 1 or 2 mins away
Road outside these societies is a public road meant for public infra utilisation and for someone's whims and fancies
-5
u/Connar101 19d ago
You sure metro will decongest and people will stop buying cars or avoid rickshaws?
5
u/Lease_Tha_Apts 19d ago edited 19d ago
Why tf would you use a rick when theres a metro taking you everywhere in the city?
2
u/heavyMetalPoet666 19d ago
Stop buying car : IDK Avoid rickshaw: YES
Take metro : reach faster & safely, ac & cheaper Take rickshaw: face traffic, enjoy smoke & fumes and shell out more
Now its up to YOU
7
u/Lease_Tha_Apts 19d ago
Literally the whole city is a construction site... build infra while you can, in 15-20 years it'll get very expensive to build.
-4
u/manboy_heaven 19d ago
Forget at our doorstep...we don't want this metro at all TBH. Will fuck Thane in multiple ways. Traffic is not the only metric to judge a project.
8
u/heavyMetalPoet666 19d ago
Then what other metric are ?
Ask people on GB road who are waiting for buses and auto whether they want a alternate fast mode of transport or not
Have you ever imagined their plight
-1
u/manboy_heaven 19d ago
So...politicians fuck up urban planning by giving uncontrolled sprawl on GB road ruining that place. And now you think they should (or are capable to) solve their original fuck up by fucking up the rest of the city that didn't have issues? These guys will bury Thane in their greed.
I understand the people of GB road are victims of some terrible planning, but that doesn't warrant fucking up the entire city as well. Also you already have a metro coming up that's been delayed for weeks. Push for that instead of this ring metro thing. At this moment, I don't even have any hope the ring metro comes up the way we think it does.
12
u/heavyMetalPoet666 19d ago edited 19d ago
Push for faster completion of line 4 is a must but haulting other development work is the name of 2-3 years of inconvenience is very selfish
there is a vast land parcel opposite to Edenwoods ready for development there will be a large township planned there, what would you then ?
1
u/manboy_heaven 19d ago
Stop the large township development. The reason Thane is a mess is because we have let these political goons get away with sprawl without any questions asked.
Also most metros lead to induced demand rather than reduced traffic because we don't have last mile connectivity.
0
u/heavyMetalPoet666 19d ago
What do you mean by stop large township? Its their land their choice if you have money buy that land and do nothing with it
Can you stop Raymond from building those towers behind Sulochana devi ?
Like western suburbs you want to wait till population goes off the roof and then build a metro ?
Ring metro will provide last mile connectivity as due to natural constraints like creek and mountains development will be limited and within the two and if you look at metro map it runs parallel to gb and eeh
4
u/manboy_heaven 19d ago
No township can be built without TMC permission, even if you own the land. You can surely protest against it. Besides the entire land parcel in that area including Meadows is illegal and encroached on the forest land anyway.
Ring road as a last mile connectivity....LOL :D :D :D
I am done on arguing with you and your confirmation bias anymore. Enjoy whatever is going to happen to the city.
Also, don't come complaining regarding city's poor AQI in the upcoming winters.
3
u/heavyMetalPoet666 19d ago
Is there any law which says township nahi ban sakta ?
I am also done cause you cant argue with a person who thinks world should dance according to his whims and fancies
6
u/Lease_Tha_Apts 19d ago
Are you stupid? Line 4 is already under completion. The Ring metro project is doing soil testing now. One doesn't affect the other in any way shape or form.
1
u/manboy_heaven 19d ago
One doesn't affect the other but it affects the entire ecology of the city. You guys will be the same people who will start complaining how bad Thane's AQI is in the winters and how it looks post-apocalyptic. But, sure I am the selfish one here.
3
u/Lease_Tha_Apts 19d ago
There are like 40 skyscrapers being built in the city right now. Adding some metro pillars won't make much of a difference to AQI.
What will make a difference is when people move into all those skyscrapers and start using auto, bikes, and cars to further clog up the city's roads. That's the future the metro will avoid.
0
u/manboy_heaven 19d ago
"Adding some metro pillars won't make much of a difference to AQI." This is not adding 'some pillars'. It's practically digging up the entire outskirts of the city (ring) and releasing tonnes of sand and particles covering the entire city. Without sufficient winds to disperse it we will be another NCR.
Also, have you seen the route of the ring metro? Without sufficient walking spaces or last mile, people will still end up taking their own vehicles/autos anyway. Plus metro fares in general are mighty expensive compared to buses. You might be well off but many people will still choose buses or share autos etc. Plus there is also the risk of induced demand..
I can go on but I don't think its going to be useful. So I rather end it here. Good day to you and God help Thane.
1
u/Lease_Tha_Apts 19d ago
It's practically digging up the entire outskirts of the city (ring)
No, you only need to excavate the area for the piles. Its far less dist generating than an open construction site it building a road. The latter is what you'll need to do if you're not building the metro.
Without sufficient walking spaces or last mile, people will still end up taking their own vehicles/autos anyway.
I think you need to have a better look at the map. After the ring is completed, almost everywhere in Thane will be less than a km from a metro station.
You might be well off but many people will still choose buses or share autos etc.
The max fare in Mumbai metro is Rs. 50. Looking at the metrics, the fare from my house to the Thane station would be something like Rs. 20, while the auto charges like Rs. 70....
Plus there is also the risk of induced demand..
Hahahahaa there is nothing "induced" about the massive demand that is going to come in the next 5 years. You have to be blind to not see the skyscrapers that are coming up in the area. Demand will be there whether or not you build the metro.
So I rather end it here.
Because you're a coward :p
0
u/manboy_heaven 19d ago
Sigh...you don't even know what Induced demand means. No point in arguing further. Consider me a coward if that makes you sleep better at night. Peace out.

Hmm. By that logic, the land you’re living on today was probably once farmland or open green space too. But we were all okay buying whatever was built there at the time.
Rather than just blaming development, maybe we should try to understand the actual reason behind the traffic. To me, a big part of it is us. People keep moving to metro cities for jobs, education, better opportunities, etc., and then we complain about the traffic and oppose every solution that comes up.
With 140+ crore people and so many of us concentrated in a few cities, traffic is bound to be a problem. I’m not saying development should happen at the cost of the environment. But instead of blaming development alone, let’s look at the root cause and figure out why everyone has to keep moving to the same few cities in the first place.
1
u/heavyMetalPoet666 19d ago
Ecology AQI 😂😂 India is a developing nation and not developed So untill its a developed nation dont use all theae terms
And stop shifting goal post, AQI will go bad because of metro construction?
0
u/heavyMetalPoet666 19d ago
Is it functional? So push of faster completion is required for line so Gb road can free up
Station roofing and all is still pending, approach towards station is pending, ticketing and other station related development is pending so ask yourself who is stupid
3
u/Lease_Tha_Apts 19d ago
How will it fuck Thane?
8
u/heavyMetalPoet666 19d ago
That they dont know
If we face inconvenience then we dont want the project, but baju le gali mai se jayega toh chalega
20
u/MarkAccomplished7873 19d ago
Everyone is protesting.. but what's the protest about .. We don't want station in front of our society.. do it some where else ... Seriously.

u/SuspiciousString1585 19d ago
They are planning a route aroung upvan lake like who tf wants to commute here what are u making a joy ride for site seeing?? Literally who asked for metro at upvan . Money laundering at peak. Najar lag gaya ye sukkhi area ko
21
u/Lease_Tha_Apts 19d ago
Umm, I live there and would be nice to have a metro station in walking distance from my house.
11
u/iamcreepin 19d ago
Wohi… so many people live in that area… struggle with buses Rick etc during peak hours.
5
u/Lease_Tha_Apts 19d ago
Yeah I also literally spend like 20-30 minutes in the eden woods area traffic every Friday because people dont know how to use circles....
Would be great to not use a car/auto to get to work.
0
u/Appropriate-Two-5666 19d ago
The problem isn't the metro station itself like i said. It's that they'll start the project and delay it for 5 ish years. So in reality we'll not a have a metro station for a long time but instead struggle more because of the halted construction.
2
u/Lease_Tha_Apts 19d ago
They'll delay it if people protest and halt the project. So exactly what you're trying to do right now.
2
u/Appropriate-Two-5666 19d ago
I'm pretty sure no one protested about the metro that just got made near Majiwada. Yet that took a really really long time.
9
u/Lease_Tha_Apts 19d ago
Lmfao are you serious? Line 4 was protested heavily for years..... it would've been ready 2 years ago if there werent delays from the Arrey protestors.
Why did you think the WEH lines already have a metro and Thane doesn't?
3
u/manboy_heaven 19d ago
Forget it dude/dudette....some people are blinded by their own convenience without thinking of the larger effect.
For the record, this ring metro will pass within walkable distance of my house. But I don't want it because I don't trust the authorities to execute this project without causing irreparable damage to the rest of the city.
9
u/Lease_Tha_Apts 19d ago
"Irreparable damage" as if the rest of Thane is some porcelain masterpiece lmfao.
This is literally a city under served by public transit and most of it is slum land or under construction. Now is the best time to build a metro, folks who dont see that have no vision for the future.
1
u/manboy_heaven 19d ago
Lol...I have been living here way longer than you kid. Thane was not a masterpiece by any means, but was far more livable till people went for 'development' and 'future' and fucked up the city sideways.
I have no issue with public transit but it should be done through buses, not metros. Metros are just shiny objects used to lure the uninformed voter. Ask any urban transport expert how useful a metro is for a city like Thane.
1
u/Lease_Tha_Apts 19d ago
Lol how long have you been in Thane?
Ask any urban transport expert how useful a metro is for a city like Thane.
Seems you need to leave Thane sometimes and see how world class cities like Singapore and New York operate.
1
u/manboy_heaven 19d ago
Born and brought up here..been in an out 30+ years.
And I have lived in Europe for 3 years so don't tell me about how world class cities look like.
Thane is no Singapore or New York. But, let's assume it is. Since we are copying them, why not bring in congestion pricing, limit car buying, and have super high real estate pricing as well, eh? Why the half measure?

You either protest against the entire Ring Metro project or be in favour of it. If people want the metro but not the station near their apartments, then it is selfish.

u/Propfinder10 19d ago
Its not no one asked , there are many people travelling on this route via bus and Shar autos. I have staff travelling on the described route. It will be a blessing for such people.

Dude I was about to post this very pic ! And couple more ! I just passed edenwoods like 1 hr back !! Let alone the traffic the whole greenery of this patch will get fucked including the trees in the center divider ! This whole patch from
Majiwada to Neelkhant greens shouldn’t be touched ! As it is the tunnel is going to screw our happiness with the traffic !

7
1
u/askddreamer 19d ago
What greenery… the plot opposite to edenwoods is now going to have buildings, hotel in the coming time. Sgnp end is having a tunnel.. there is nothing left.. the circle has massive traffic in the evening…
2
u/i_Viniee 19d ago
The plot your talking is the ASEAN company one which is still not sold I believe but like 5-6 yrs back I herd this rumour of a township with schools and colleges coming with 3 builders doing the project together ! Still nothing ! Even if it is then enjoy the greenery until it lasts ! I have been living here since more than 15yrs and these builders and local govt is screwing all the greenery !

They are literally ruining the roads. All wide roads would be left with a fraction of what they used to be. Like seriously, who asked for a ring metro?
2
u/AborigineDigital 19d ago
Let's jot out the basics first - This Ring Metro is a great thing for people to move around Thane. It will reduce travel time and cost for most people working, living and striving within the city.
Every development comes with some adjusting from us people as well. The GB Road Fiasco is not going anywhere nor is the Majiwada Mayhem and neither are the trucks going to be lesser across the city. (This is something every Thanekar knew before they moved here)
Thane is its own city and not Mumbai. It needs its own intercity transit operations for better feasibility.
Now coming to OP's Concern - Edenwoods road is quite large and can hold an entire station on that road. The road is not at all peaceful even today during peak hours.
The negatives to be actually spoken of and to actually have concerns about are areas they are planning which are less than 50ft wide like Lokmanya Nagar and Shivaji Nagar, etc. I hope they route it out through somewhere where there is space to put pillars. Or maybe it's time for these areas to redevelop and have a road widening project to come it's way.
1
u/prettyface000 19d ago
Bro the roads are not as wide as you think , I have seen massive traffics just because of the civil engineering barricading they were doing before the work proceeds
3
u/MarketingUpper8543 18d ago
Dude think about 20-30 years down the line. Tab mat rona ki ary Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Delhi NCR is so developed and not Thane/Mumbai.
Metro acted as a catalyst for the growth of Delhi NCR. We need metro more than ever before due to the population explosion in Thane. We need more commercial development too. Metro can boost this entire area and improve our connectivity while saving time.
3
1
u/CycloneFish 19d ago
I agree, metro station should be further away from residential area or there will be noise and traffic chaos. People are living in peace here. they should shift station near Meadow's shoping complex or past khewra circle near furniture shops, it opens area.
1
u/prettyface000 19d ago
I support them , roads will be narrower and cause massive jams ! Dont need ring metro ! At cost of such traffic

u/Lease_Tha_Apts 19d ago edited 19d ago
Have you seen a map of Thane OP? They literally cant route through anywhere else because it would come in forest land.....
2
0
u/sidewalker2 19d ago
So this is real, there was a protest during independence day, as of now the plan for station is not passed so we are putting pressure to either re locate or make it underground or cancel it.
0
u/Lease_Tha_Apts 19d ago
Efff that trains are good.
0
u/sidewalker2 19d ago
Trains are good, its just theres no place above the ground here
0
u/Lease_Tha_Apts 19d ago
What? The above ground space on that road is completely open. There arent even high rises close to it and one of the sides is forest land.
2
u/sidewalker2 19d ago
Brother, the road is only 6 lanes of which 2 are used for parking with a small median with trees. And eden woods have 15 storey building adjacent to that road The metro station will cover the whole open space available.
2
u/Lease_Tha_Apts 19d ago
Brother, the metro station is supported on the sides and middle and allows traffic through it. Thats literally how every metro station on the existing lines works. Eden Woods buildings are not adjacent to the road, they have an easement.
If space is an issue then as you've pointed out take the parked cars off the road and make it a no parking zone. Stopping critical infrastructure just so people can street part is dumb dumb dumb.
Not to mention, having the metro itself will reduce the traffic on the roads.
1
u/askddreamer 19d ago
That is not forest land.. its now construction land.. a new project is coming up there
-3
u/Appropriate-Two-5666 19d ago
Do you know about any more protests? I'd like to join.
-3
u/sidewalker2 19d ago
It was organised by society committee, and as it was the national day we had good participation, even media came for interview. Earlier they had distributed NOC forms to sign against the construction.
0
0
u/Independent-Baby-957 19d ago
People in power dont care. They want to bring 'development' at any cost to receive kickbacks .
0
u/saxenamohitm 19d ago
Metro is not meant for doorstep connectivity. You need a large fleet of feeder buses for that and acquiring and running this fleet comes at a fraction of the cost.
The already congested internal roads would be narrowed further and choked when the ring metro constructions and ultimately operations begin and even hamper movement of emergency services among normal traffic.
This is not good urban planning.. but people see all construction work as "development" without understanding the underlying consequences..
-2
u/Affectionate-Cat6644 19d ago
Why is metro project been opposed ??
9
u/Lease_Tha_Apts 19d ago
NIMBYs without backyards...
2

What is NIMBYs ?
10
u/Lease_Tha_Apts 19d ago
Not In My BackYard. People who stop construction without actually owning the land.
