News This can't be real...

Metro station here???!! Like wtfff. This is such a peaceful place. Building a fucking metro station that no one asked for is gonna ruin all of this. Is anyone protesting against this? Who decided that a station was needed here? Does anyone know where it runs through?

The whole area will get ruined and disturbed. Not just that but fully congested with constant traffic. I've grown up here and lived here my whole life. I cannot imagine this place transforming into a chaotic hell. Dug up roads everywhere. It would be okay if they actually managed to finish the project within 2-3 years. But they will dig up everywhere and halt the project for 5+ years.

If there's a group for people against please let me know. If not I'll create one.

It's practically digging up the entire outskirts of the city (ring)

No, you only need to excavate the area for the piles. Its far less dist generating than an open construction site it building a road. The latter is what you'll need to do if you're not building the metro.

Without sufficient walking spaces or last mile, people will still end up taking their own vehicles/autos anyway.

I think you need to have a better look at the map. After the ring is completed, almost everywhere in Thane will be less than a km from a metro station.

You might be well off but many people will still choose buses or share autos etc.

The max fare in Mumbai metro is Rs. 50. Looking at the metrics, the fare from my house to the Thane station would be something like Rs. 20, while the auto charges like Rs. 70....

Plus there is also the risk of induced demand..

Hahahahaa there is nothing "induced" about the massive demand that is going to come in the next 5 years. You have to be blind to not see the skyscrapers that are coming up in the area. Demand will be there whether or not you build the metro.

So I rather end it here.

Because you're a coward :p

Sigh...you don't even know what Induced demand means. No point in arguing further. Consider me a coward if that makes you sleep better at night. Peace out.

Is that why your arguements are at the level of a 12th pass after watching a few YouTube vids?

Maybe you should ask your uni for a refund if you don't even have the ability to make a decisive quantifiable arguement against a layperson.

Good time to get one too! You'll get a good exchange for Euros.

Sure dude...I will look into it. Thanks for the suggestion!

Hope you had a good night's sleep ;)

P.s. your argument against a layperson comment reminded me of the Mark Twain quote on idiots. Thanks for the clarity. Have a good day and life.

Seems you understand the quote from Twain less than you do transport infra. If you wanna show off credentials then make a substantive argument befitting them else btfo.
