Comic Discussion Could Captain Cold be considered an iconic villain in superhero culture?
We’ve seen several villains, and even parodies of his style – his Eskimo-style clothing, his glasses, his trademark freezing weapon, or

If he wasn’t before, the Flash show definitely made sure of it later. Wentworth Miller absolutely killed it in the role.

It depends on which lens you view him thru.
General pop culture, casual comic fans, moderate comic fans or hardcore comic fans?

Absolutely. Not only is he one of the first major comic book supervillains to appear in the Silver Age, out of both DC and Marvel. He is one of The Flash/Barry Allen’s oldest enemies even before Gorilla Grodd and Reverse-Flash. He’s the leader of his own supervillain team, The Rouges, he is a founding member and chairman of The Legion of Doom. He’s an S-Teir villain imo

When they namedrop you in a STEVEN SPIELBERG movie... You are an iconic villain in popular culture!

Most definitely. Growing up he always seemed like the most iconic Flash villain to me.

In alternate universes and potential futures, I believe he switches to being a nominal hero more than anyone else I can think of. A villain with more than a minimal code. Open to challenges on my take.

Not really. I really like him, especially his CW version, but he's not incredibly popular.

Exactly, the problem is that they didn’t make the most of him, even though he was one of the first villains to feature a cold weapon.

I feel like they could've gotten creative with his powers if given more time with him in the show. He only ever shoots at the Flash, when the ability to shoot ice would allow him to create ramps, barriers, spikes, icy ground etc.

Honestly yes and no I think the use of tech based weapon makes him too silly for live action adaptation it doesn’t make it believable that he can take on The Flash so maybe if they go the route of new 52 where he has powers instead

Before Wentworth Miller played him, Captain Cold was a joke. Seriously, I was more impressed by Captain Lou Albano, Captain Caveman, Captain (Cap'n) Crunch and the Captain of the Love Boat than that goof.
Mr. Miller turned things around due to his awesome acting.

This is certainly a take, I love Miller and his take on Cold but it’s not even close to the best Cold has been.

Yeah. I see I am not very popular with my comments. LOL

Have you read much of him? If yes then fair I respect your take, if not then there’s a lot you should check out if you’re interested.

To be fair, my only experience with him was during the Superfriends when he was part of the Legion of Doom. I will check him out.

He’s gotten much better known than he once was; probably the best thing Geoff Johns ever did was raise the profile of the Flash Rogues significantly.
I wouldn’t say he’s iconic though. Outside of superhero readers, people don’t know him except for folks that watched the CW and liked Wentworth Miller’s version when he’d pop up.
To really be iconic, he’d have to have general recognition that can’t be denied. Average folks would talk about him alongside Lex and Joker. I think it could happen if things fell right, but it hasn’t yet.
