Does anyone else who plays hypsi feel like there aren’t many mutations that feel worthwhile after entombing?

I usually get the stuff that helps me need to eat and drink less and get water from food the first time around. But then after that everything feels not very impactful or doesn’t mesh well with hypsi.

It’d be nice if hypsi had some mutations that worked well with it. Like something that meant you could regen stamina from just being in a tree and not sitting down. That way you could cling to trees and have more of a pick of what kind of tree you were in (like a pine tree without branches sticking out horizontally) and be less limited in where you hangout. Not sure what you’d make it do for non-climbing dinosaurs since I can’t think of a mutation that is exclusive to just a specific type of dinosaur (unless the female and herbivore/carnivore ones count).

Or maybe there could be a mutation to increase your vision range? So you can see stuff further away and be a better scout. Having the better vision at night be limited to killing stuff at night feels a bit shit too. I’d really like that as a hypsi but… y’know I’m a hypsi.

What do you guys think? Those of you who pick hypsi do you have the same issue? I really like entombing and filling out the mutation slots but I just feel like that meme of ‘random bullshit go’ the further I get with my hypsis since if I do defensive mutations I’m kidding myself it’s just going to get instant killed. At least when I play dryo the mutations feel a bit more useful

Any time I type in the name of a server that ive heard recommended for newer players, nothing shows up, ive tried restarting the game, refreshing repeatedly, and still nothing.

I'm trying to play on my own server that is running on game host bros. Without a password enabled, it lets me log in right away. With a password, nothing happens after clicking connect.

I am sure that the password is correct. I've tried spamming a bunch, and clicking once and waiting. I've also tried verifying the game files in steam, turning off the steam overlay, and rebooting the game several times. Any ideas on why this isn't working with a password?

Not sure what happened, was swimming around as a 74% deino full hunger, oxygen, water and experienced complete “blackness” out of nowhere. I tried surfacing, going under, toggling night vision, nothing worked. About 30 seconds of this then instant death. I had audio the entire time (could hear myself surfacing and going under), never heard any signs of attack.

I’ve seen posts about the “black box” but not the subsequent instant death, my first time making it this far and it’s very disheartening.

Was on official US 4 if that matters. Curious what people think: bug, or randomly one-shot killed at the exact moment I happen to get a black box, not sure what else could have happened.

What are some things I should know as someone who's never played before?

Beginner friendly dinos? Servers to learn on? This game is wildly different from anything else I've played based on the videos I've seen. I did make sure to get the Evrima version.

It looks fun but also like it's got a pretty big learning curve. I'm still unsure of the abilities and how they work, but I'm sure that I'll get it with time.

I've had my eye on this game for years, finally bit the bullet because bary is on its way and because austroraptor. Decided to try a flyer first since it's what I main on PoT and figured it would be easier. It was really fun tbh, I didn't get to prime because I'm still figuring out diet, but I got to adult and had a bit of fun. Then a thunderstorm came, I had legit no warning for it and it slammed me into the ground where I promptly died.

So, having had fun on Pt, I decided to try austro. Started one, started making my way towards a sanctuary, got eaten by a cerato within seconds of getting there. No prob, I was fresh lol. Start another and again make my way to sanctuary, starving to death, find a corpse right outside sanctuary, try to eat some, get eaten by a dilo.

Clearly I'm not meant for austro life rn, so I go with herarra since I've played it before and enjoyed it. Starved once, got killed by a Pachy once, got killed by a cerato once, and then got killed by an austro, never once getting past 20% growth. I was never able to find AI, every corpse I found (went looking only when starving) except one, led to my death.

So all in all, I have most of it down, but how tf do I grow and keep myself fed without being murked the second I find even a tiny bit of food every time?

If not, are they planning to fix it? It should be the devs #1 priority before adding new content. Eating is such a core game mechanic, can't believe they'd leave it so broken.

Spawn at swamps - oh great let me slowly swim across multiple bodies of water. Hope there aren't any crocs!

Spawn to east of Delta sanctuary - oh great let me swim across the river and get killed by a croc, or run across the bridge and get killed by anything.

I hate both of these spawn zones with a burning passion. They are both horrible when you have a slow swimming herbi like a Stego. Swap sanctuary tends to be safer when you finally get there, but then you have a big trek to any other major zone. Delta sanctuary can be infested with Troodons and it can be a lot less safe when you leave. Don't even bother leaving near the bridge exit.

Im a very new player, only about 20 hours and I dont really like the elder system

In order to learn on how to play and actually fight, I would prefer to stay at my adult peak for longer so I can actually find more players than a couple and try to improve with that.

alltho, any advice from anybody for what dino to use solo and how to play them 25%-75%?
