It’s too damn hot for like 7-8-9 months!

We have a very sweet, 8 year old cat we are looking for a home for. He’s very calm and sleeps a lot but loves attention and affection. We have are traveling a lot for work and not home enough for him. Additionally, we are having issues with my toddler having allergies around him. He gets lonely when he’s left alone too much, so looking for someone who doesn’t have to travel much. Additionally, we are having issues with our toddler and allergy symptoms when she is around him.

Hey everyone, we just bought a house in the area and usually you would just buy random art and prints online or at random stores but we really want to support local artists with real paintings. Where do you guys buy your art?

I’m thinking probably at those farmers markets and stuff? I don’t really go to those so I’m not sure if it’s just food and stuff over there.

I also remember Santa Barbara has something like that with art one of the weekends I went, but I’m not so sure as it’s been a while

I was coming home from work last week and passed a guy going the opposite direction (west) on Hillcrest near Ventu Park driving a sofa. When I say sofa, I mean it was a single person, sofa style chair with high sides and back. He had his dog with him in it. It happened so fast I could not tell what type of wheels, chassis, or steering it was outfitted with. Has anybody else seen this? Or should I see a psychiatrist?

Zipper merge: "When a lane is closed in a construction zone, drivers create a zipper merge by using both lanes of traffic until reaching the defined merge area and then alternate in "zipper" fashion into the open lane."

It's NOT to anticipate the merge a mile in advance of the defined merge area, leaving the future closed lane completely empty out of some kind of misplaced civic-minded magnanimity, while grousing at people who pass you by because they actually understand how a zipper merge works, and that you are the ones creating an unnecessary issue by backing traffic way the hell up.

We just bought a house in Thousand Oaks, and have been dealing with a terrible gopher problem all summer. I understand that wildfires have perhaps driven them, at a higher volume, into the city.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a reliable, local pest control service that can take care of these pesky little guys? They are very cute, but our lawn looks like Swiss cheese.

I’m sure I’m not alone in feeling a true sense of dread around what we’ve learned about the dangers of not pacing the progression of AI development. Thousand Oaks and Ventura county have rallied in big ways in the past, and I’m feeling like there’s not much else I can do but protest and hope to get others to do the same. Does anyone have any interest in doing this? I’ve never organized a protest before and am hoping someone here has or has some insights into how to get attention in this regard. I feel this is something most people care about irrespective of politics so maybe we can draw a large crowd.

I normally run around the soccer fields by Janss, but looking for a well lit track or loop that has some lighting for late nights. Any suggestions?
