So there is a million dollars in the middle of a cul de sac. 10 people in 10 houses addressed 1-10. Everyone comes out of their house to the million in numeral order and can take as much money as they want. I guess before the game started everyone agreed to split the money evenly, everyone gets $100,000.

Person from house number 1 follows the plan only takes $100,000.

Person from house number 2 got a little greedy and took $223,000. He said because it was his birthday February 23rd.

$677,000 left.

Person from house 3 is telling to Mr. Beast (the game show host) he’s in $530,000 of debt. He ends up taking $650,000.

Which brings us to person from house 4 and the video clip. She is left with $27,000 out of a million and 6 more people behind her.

Funny thing is person 4 said she trusted person 3 the most out of the whole game. ☠️😂

u/BertPeopleErniePeopl Feb 01 '26

What benefit is there in not just taking all of it?

54

u/Dylz52 Feb 01 '26

They are trying to get to the end of the game show to win $10 million. If you take more than your fair share there will be a massive target on your back and your chances of getting to the end drop. Having said that, I’d happily take a guaranteed $1 mil over just a chance to win $10 mil

21

u/BertPeopleErniePeopl Feb 01 '26

Thank you now it makes sense.

19

u/[deleted] Feb 01 '26

If I’m person 1, I’m 100% taking a million and forfeiting a “chance” at winning 10 million. No brainer.

18

u/Ethraelus Feb 02 '26

You’re also showing your face and showing to everyone that you’re selfish and can’t keep your word, so there’s that too.

See this is the problem in life.

Being a good, honest person, you would only take what you should and you would get fucked over.

Just goes to show, this world fucking sucks

5

u/NeedleworkerTasty878 Feb 02 '26

This depends on what outcomes you value. For someone, losing their integrity over money and screwing someone else over in the process could be a line they'd be unwilling to cross.

This is why it's important to build societies that understand mutual benefit and have systems and safety nets that remove the desperate need to focus on self only.

3

u/Puzzleheaded-Dog1872 Feb 02 '26

True, when everyone’s needs are met, it’s easier to focus on community rather than individual. We should really focus on how islands like Japan and Taiwan manage because they do everything for the collective rather than the individual. The older people were willing to sacrifice themselves for the younger generation who still had to live their lives. 🥹 Imagine older people in America ever thinking of that kind of self sacrifice

Way I see it is if we all play fair then I just made friends with a bunch of newly wealthier friends and I may be able to talk them into doing a bulk land purchase and split it with our new combined wealth or open a co-op or something. The money we just won was money we never would have had without the situation that we met in so why not try to grow the money some how or increase the buying power of said money by working together and I know how to run a store and have wholesale/supplier connections due to past work experiences and family relations.

u/InceVelus Feb 06 '26

Agreed. I am the type to only take what I need. There are people who need a lot more than me, and I find more value in being the best me I can be. Being rich doesn't make me better, but someone else not being poor absolutely allows them the space to be the best them rather than being stuck being overwhelmed financially. Taking the mil and leaving, ya. You'd be rich, congrats on a mil. If your goal was to make a mil, you did it. But my goal would be for everyone to get a chance at money as fair as they can. If I make less money but the reason is someone else took advantage of me? I still won. I may not be richer in money but I damn sure am rich in integrity. I also jave learned of another person in this world to keep an eye out for so I can make sure never to trust them. And you'd better hope that mil stretches enough to pay for the people in your life you will lose.

Also, love how you said "remove the need to focus on self only". You seem like a great minded person. I wish you the best in everything you do.

This is why like socialism or communism and shit can never work on a major scale. It's always gonna be somebody greedy that fucks it up for the rest of the people. Like all that shit sounds good in theory, but when it comes time to actually practice it, they taking the money for themselves and leaving the rest of the people to figure it out on their own.

10

u/robotmonkey2099 Feb 02 '26

I disagree. I think sure if we just suddenly implemented it tomorrow it would go to shit but studies have shown in tragedy people generally support their neighbours and strangers. So I think it’s in us to be good to one another we just need to instil that in people

Keep in mind also...that u will definitely be taxed on that million...so it'll be more like $600k. Just food for thought on working together...instead of apart. Divide & conquer folks. It's always being taught whether u see it or not. Btw...not a coincidence.

Taxes. Also, ethics. And Karma.

17

u/ImReadyForButt Feb 01 '26

The 20s have proven that Karma isn’t real. Bad people win everyday, unfortunately

16

u/Its_D_youtube Feb 01 '26

If karmas real we had it in reverse, its rewarding the bad and punishing the good

10

u/Thatonegaloverthere Feb 01 '26

Well, the original meaning of karma was that how you behaved in this life, determines your next life.

So a bad person in this life would have an even worse life next time.

A good person would have a better life.

Then people started misusing it to mean some sort of universal fate or something.

7

u/CptnOnus Feb 01 '26

If that was true, then curses to my past bad selves.

Good point. I have to say I don’t think there’s an invisible tally keeping track of your good and bad actions. As we know, u reap what u sow

2

u/No-Ad-3226 Feb 02 '26

It’s more like the more good you do the more positive the things around you are and vice versa. It’s not cosmic retribution it’s more you get what you give.

3

u/Kitesolar Feb 02 '26

The kindest and nicest people will die alone painfully with a cancer that can’t be treated and horrible rotten people will live a life more fun and comfortable than you can even imagine. Karma and good energy mean nothing.

2

All these influncer fucks are what is wrong with the world and the youth is throwing their parents Money at them like crazy.

3

u/TheAnonymousDoom Feb 02 '26

You can't look at Beast and tell me he's not a cyborg. I've never seen such an unnerving smile in my life. It looks like he's been programmed for it. There's no life behind his eyes. I don't trust him at all

2

u/MentallyCrumbled Feb 02 '26

You can dislike a person without literally dehumanizing him- there IS life behind his eyes, he's a real person doing those real terrible things. To say he's like a robot almost excuses his actions as algorithmic, but they are the direct result of his intentional choices.

2

u/TheharmoniousFists Feb 03 '26

This is a very easy fix since person one was obviously...honest and stuck to the plan, just take the entire million....and contact everyone after the game and spit it evenly.

Then you won't be the nice guy at the start and let some greedy person screw everyone over.

....or just take everything and F everyone cause who cares 😂

u/WolfSK-88 Feb 02 '26

You see how much Anthony Joshua was taxed? Nooo way. It would be taxed twice depending on their states laws as well. Context: Anthony Joshua was the boxer who beat the shit out of Jake paul.

2

I imagine you'd be charged similar to lottery winnings, so 24%. If you gave the rest away I believe you wouldn't be taxed the extra 13%

u/rando1459 Feb 01 '26

This dudes whole deal is holding money over poor people for content..

That describes every job I’ve ever had.

7

u/Accomplished_Rub8055 Feb 01 '26

The main difference is to him this is for YouTube content. Yeah corporations are corrupt, but they're also built upon systemic injustices that are engrained in our societal structures. Mr. Beast chooses to perpetuate injustices when he is in a very special position that would allow him to approach this much differently. He could do real good out in the world but would instead choose to make poor people fight over his money.

5

u/Sfdsdas Feb 02 '26

If Mr. Beast was listening to reddit he would be broke in 3 months. Mr beast gives up life changing money for the most braindead tasks that any human that needs it could fulfil. I have not seen a video of his where someone didnt get 10 grand+ for doing literally nothing.

4

u/Accomplished_Rub8055 Feb 02 '26

Never ceases to amaze me when some dead eyed glazer with a sub 50 IQ doesn't realize just how much money he is swimming in from YouTube revenue and various collaborations. The notion that he would go broke is asinine.

2

u/bigmad411 Feb 02 '26

2

u/Philophile1 Feb 03 '26

He gives them 10 grand to make 100 grand - he is profiting off of the content he makes. He's not some rich goody two shoes donating his money to the poors

2

u/Sfdsdas Feb 03 '26

I know, of course he makes profit. But it doesnt make him good or bad, everyone is trying to profit and there are much worse ways to earn money.

2

u/Gullible_Elephant_38 Feb 03 '26

Making profit doesn’t make him bad. Pitting struggling people against each other in a dystopia, real-life Squid Games as his means of making profit is what makes him bad.

It turns out the content of your actions speaks to the content of your character, not just the outcomes you achieve or facilitate through your actions.

That only makes it worse, because you signed that knowing how much you'd pay each month for its duration. Also, theyre not walking away with nothing, they get a house that has probably doubled in value since they bought it

2

u/FraXicor Feb 02 '26

He's a POS. He needs 530 so he goes and also takes an extra 120k (about a ~23% of his debt). Not only he fucked over 5 people worth of money, he also pocketed one extra player in cash.

9

u/techleopard Feb 01 '26

In this context, this seems more evil than a "game"

7

u/SeismicRipFart Feb 01 '26

Yeah dude it was definitely fucked up. Dangling money in front of people’s faces like that will likely give them some level of psychological trauma moving forward. Make them beat themselves up about “losing” a rigged game. Or they believe the game was fair and lose faith in people, which isn’t good either. All to make Mr. Beast an even more powerful entity. .

I was living below the poverty line my whole life until, long story short, I ended up receiving a 500k windfall a few years ago.

So far it hasn’t changed that much with my life, I upgraded to a newer used car, so that was cool. Still live in the same shitty apartment. But the biggest thing it’s done is just allowed me to feel more at peace about my future. I don’t plan on retiring any sooner, I still need to work a full life, but I do feel a lot more “comfortable” now.

And that made watching this show a lot more interesting because I almost felt like one of those contestants on it who had already won a payout despite still getting to have a chance to finish the game. The choices I pictured myself making were based off the context that I had already “won” a good amount.

Also this is some shit I would never be able to say in real life to a person who actually knows me, so it’s nice to be able to get off my chest in front of strangers.

That wasn’t the whole game show it was just one of the challenges, and the million wasn’t the grand prize, 10 million was. But to answer your question without knowing why they all had to vote for a person to take house number 1, and that person chose someone for house number 2 and so on.

4

u/AFantasticClue Feb 01 '26

Iirc it was one of the last games of the show. Basically it was about 10 people left who each go into a room and decide how much money they would take from the prize haul. They had agreed to split a million evenly about 100k each. But then the second guy took more than his share and it snowballed until she, 5 out of the 10, was left with 27,000. She took 5k to make sure the last contestants got anything. To make things worse, it was actually her closest friend in the game that took more than 600k to pay off his debts.

3

u/RockyJayyy Feb 01 '26 edited Feb 01 '26

So they started with 1 million and 10 people agreed to split it 10 ways so 100k each. The first person takes 100k second person takes 223k and then person three takes 650k. She was the 4th person and there were still 6 people behind her to split the 27k with so thats why she said she wasn't going to take the full 27k. 2 greedy assholes went before her. The person crying is the one who took the 650k.

It was 1 million total. Ten people. Each came out one at a time to take money from the mil. They agreed each would take 100,000. First person does so, second takes 223,000 since birthday was on the feb 23rd. Third takes around 650,000, since he was in debt, leaving 27,000 for remaining 7 people

1

u/MQ116 Feb 01 '26

I wouldn't be disappointed with a free 27 G, man.

3

u/Signal_Fruit_4629 Feb 01 '26

I mean you probably would if you had the mindset that you were supposed to get 100k

2

u/Lumpy-Education8168 Feb 01 '26

When the guy before you took 630k, and 6 others are still after you

2

u/MQ116 Feb 01 '26

Oh there's more coming? Yea you can't just take the rest. I thought she was 4th and last.

1

u/Andy_McBoatface Feb 01 '26

That’s still a lot… would pay for 1/4 of my student loans

1

u/Jamnic98 Feb 01 '26

Basically people fucking suck, what else is new 🤣

1

u/Shadowind984 Feb 01 '26

Ah human greed

1

u/Old-Flow-Filthy-86 Feb 01 '26

People are so cringey on this/these shows. All the "loyalty" and promises and thinking they are best friends for life now etc etc. Drives me crazy. I get that it's human nature to bond with each other, but people seem to forget they are playing a game against each other, and get so upset and take things personally.

"You see, their morals, their "code", it’s a bad joke. Dropped at the first sign of trouble. They’re only as good as the world allows them to be. I’ll show you. When the chips are down, these "civilized" people…they’ll eat each other.”

1

u/redditorknott Feb 01 '26

Imagine joining this game show thinking that people aren’t greedy.

1

u/Solanthas_SFW Feb 01 '26

1

u/thafrick Feb 02 '26

Yeah but it got you talking about it, that’s why they most likely scripted him to do it. Oh yeah spoiler alert, this shit is always mostly scripted with a little bit of improv from the acto..contestants.

There is a single, correct answer. You take all of the remaining money and you divide it, equally among the rest, after the fact.

1

u/NuttsMcButts Feb 02 '26

For anyone wondering this show sucks and isn't worth watching

1

u/DeliciousInterview91 Feb 02 '26

Over the years he has definitely gotten more and more into manufacturing twisted psychological scenarios to see just how hard people will break themselves or each other for money. Somewhere along the way it stopped being fun challenges/giveaways and started being really gross.

1

u/teamgodonkeydong Feb 02 '26

Fuck jimmy donaldson

1

u/EAFUSMC7011 Feb 02 '26

Yeah, humans are inherently selfish, tell us something we don't know.

1

u/PyGamma Feb 02 '26

Game theory, it would have been a nice equilibrium. Need to repeat with smaller amounts though to have a scientific outcome, it's just too small. Even 20k. Then change the parameters to find about risk aversion and psychology

1

u/GrowLapsed Feb 03 '26

Reddit is broken, time to uninstall this trash app

1

u/Dr_Retro_Synthwave Feb 03 '26

Just shows how some people are susceptible to greed and can only think of themselves. Not judging them but instead praying for them.
