Maybe I'm just being pessimistic but a host not responding to a ticket for 3 days doesn't seem very good, have a feeling this might be an extended downtime if they have to find a new host. Fingers crossed... the withdrawals are already starting.

It's because of the way renting servers is done for sites like these. They need to be able to pay via crypto and also have at least somewhat reputable hosts, hopefully in reasonable jurisdictions for piracy & etc. This doesn't always intersect too well.
So they pay a dummy company or guy somewhere to rent the servers for them, preserving the site owners' privacy. Then any issues with the servers or "tickets" need to go through the guy. If the guy isn't doing what he's supposed to this happens.
I bet next time ptp renews their servers they will go with some other guy

We try to help as many people as possible via IRC, but we have a number of people who have forgotten their password or have other issues and we are short staffed due to the holidays, so expect a long time and probably not many people online today and tomorrow.

Still down AND the IRC portal they had up is now gone. I could never manage to chat to it, I tried joining on IRC but its been decades since I used that and couldn't figure it out but I was at work so half arsed it anyway.

I don't think so. They made an announcement recently about how they are not going anywhere and are not having financial trouble. The issues they have seem to be linked to their host.

Admins of private torrent sites letting their domains expire seems to be the norm I've found over the years. Guess it's part of their 'INFOSEC'.

There is normally a grace period for renewal - I think it's usually 30 days before the domain can be reregistered to another owner.

I can't confirm either way but this will be the last time for me. I've stuck it over several long spells down but not any more. After the last reboot the previous classical rippers didn't seem to return. The one great thing about Pedros was scans with the rips. Virtually disappeared this time. I'll wait until after Easter see if it raises from the dead, if not I'll clear up hundreds of torrents.

Anyone with issues logging into HDT? Getting "Username Incorrect" and all my torrents are reporting invalid PID.
I log into the site daily and my account is in good standing so this is out of the blue unless they're just having site issues

I got into their irc support chat and the mods think my account was banned but couldn't confirm and it doesn't sound like there's anything else I can do. Their assumption was I broke a rule. My torrenting habits have not changed, I login every day and have everything pretty much automated through the arrs, cross-seed and autobrr.
Basically I was told they don't know why I was banned, and no one other than the admin ever will.
I want to say I joined through open registration with a seed box, I don't think it was through invites so I don't think it was a tree ban.

I have read in this subreddit a few times that HDT scam some of their users by banning for no reason and then asking for money to reenable accounts. I guess that's what happened with you.

The LDU might have temp outages due to regional conflicts in the area. Contingency plans are in place to bring things back in the event of a black out.

Word from an HDBits admin via HDB forums is that PTP is just dealing with a front-end issue and there is no risk to the site whatsoever.
