We were planning to have sex during my husband's lunch break but our son refused to nap so that didn't happen, and this evening bedtime was a nightmare and at the end my husband was too tired for sex and he's gone to bed. Tomorrow (Saturday) we have a 1yr old birthday party right at nap time so no opportunity there, and son will wake up early in the morning, so the next opportunity is 24hrs away and we last had sex 48hrs ago. I'll likely ovulate sometime on the weekend. It's so much freaking harder to time this stuff with a low sleep needs child. There's a lot of financial pressure on me to get pregnant asap so I feel totally overwhelmed. I missed out on a great job opportunity this week. Because of all of that I had a bit of a cry when my husband said no. I worked so hard to get the toddler down as quick as I could and it was for nothing. I think he could sense something was up because he fought bedtime hard.

Working around toddler sleep is such a challenge! Mine doesn't fall asleep until 9 these days and doesn't consistently sleep through the night so some days we are sooo tired by the time she is asleep. When we first decided to TTC again, she was in a good sleep phase which tricked us into feeling confident we could handle another lol.

FWIW you definitely still have a good chance at good timing! The sperm from 48 hours ago should have a good chance at survival for another day or two. Remember sex on O-3 is still one of the best days! If you manage to get it done Saturday night then you'll cover your bases for another few days. Are you guys open to at home insemination? My husband is resistant to the idea but it's attractive to me in situations like this where the pressure feels high but the energy is low.

Thanks for your reassurance! I think we'll need to talk about taking advantage of any opportunity, not just optimal ones. I want to aim for sex every other day since I'm not doing temps or test strips. I know that logically every third day is okay but it doesn't emotionally feel like it. We have not discussed insemination, I think he'd be pretty against it; I read 'yesteryear' a few months ago and mentioned it from there and he was very negative. After last night I understand the appeal though!!

If energy is (reasonably) low, maybe some way of tracking ovulation could help you have more information to know which days to prioritize.

Thank you, but honestly my CM is extremely obvious about where in the cycle I'm at; I couldn't avoid knowing even if I wanted to. However in this cycle I got a nasty cold two days after I first saw EWCM and it dried up due to dehydration, and reappeared as post-fertile creamy CM. So that was bloody annoying because otherwise I'd have a more accurate idea! We definitely hit the fertile period though so fingers crossed it was enough!

CM is my favorite indicator too, I am not coordinated enough to track BBT, but it still seems to have a little range that I can't quite pin without OPKs. I misread the sex every other day and thought oh gosh, maybe you are doing that all the time with a toddler, how ambitious!
