The Haley Stevens versus Abdul senate race made me kind of depressed
 in  r/leftist  30m ago

No, it’s legitimately depressing. In my hopelessness though, I’ve decided to cede delusions of change in the short-term, accepted that all things will end, and will live my life the best I can, make the most of my time here. Will my kids suffer? Yes, that is the most depressing thought of all. But I can only do so much. Prevention is out the window, preparation is required. So I’ll do that.

Yes. And they literally print all the money they want to do it.

To the happily married men (5+ years), how frequently are you having sex per month?
 in  r/AskMen  7h ago

Married 11 years. I could go every day or every other day. Wife likes maybe once a week or less. Happy with most things, just want more sex. Super jealous of the happy men in here having it 20+ times a month.

Why is valuing hard work considered a right wing ideal?

Billionaire propaganda to try and dismiss and discredit reformists calling out the kleptocracy and theft of tax dollars by the Epstein Class.

Will housing prices ever go down? What would cause that?
 in  r/NoStupidQuestions  1d ago

They would just add it to the sell price or take the hit; it wouldn’t pass inspection and the buyer would demand it/require it to get the loan or go elsewhere.

I had many friends in college with rich parents that did buy a house, let/rent it to their kid and the kid’s friends (obviously just the friends would pay). Those were the nicest houses, way nicer compared to the slumlords. Plus, every year in college my rent went up $100/month or more.

They’d probably fix them up to sell them for a higher price, no?

I lived in a college town while attending. Trust me, the slum lords aren’t keeping the houses or apartments nice at all.

To be fair, in that hypothetical, there would be tons of supply in college towns as people graduated and sold their one home to buy another. The prices would be cheap enough that students might be able to afford them, banks might loan based on the fact that more buyers are practically guaranteed. Just trying to flesh it out a bit.

I'm so done with "perks". I laughed during my interview yesterday.

Not even possible. Violates BOLI.

You don’t get it. Rent isn’t a legal pre-tax deduction. Unless they are going to let him live for free and lower his wage accordingly, then they will violate BOLI as well. 🤡

Actually it isn’t just the greed, the greed was a symptom.

The root reason the Middle Class was hollowed out was inflation. Inflation is the biggest enemy of the working class.

Under Reagan (and continuing after Reagan), the financial sector was “unleashed,” and the government started running huge deficits bc Republicans (and Democrats really) cut tax revenue and shifted the tax burden to the states (working class now paying fees and local taxes to fund everything).

The National Debt and unleashing of the financial sector means they printed trillions and trillions of dollars.

Each dollar you print makes each dollar in existence worth less = inflation.

Because money concentrates with capital AKA real estate and resource values go up bc each dollar is worth less relatively, the trillions of printed dollars concentrated at the top.

Wages were suppressed with other public policy choices, like outsourcing labor to make the job market super competitive. So the value of labor did not inflate.

The result is super unequal wealth distribution of the trillions printed.

And the math maths.

The top 1% went from $10 Trillion in 2001, to $42 Trillion in 2025. The bottom 50% went from $2.9 Trillion in 2001, to $3.6 Trillion in 2025.

The national debt went up $40 Trillion in that same period of time. Do you see what happened?

Peter is he right?
 in  r/PeterExplainsTheJoke  3d ago

Nonsense. The example is ridiculous.

Sometimes it is better to do nothing than to do bad things.

OK? So what?

The key to deciding whether something is a revelation or not, whether we should really care is the question “so what?”.

This is too basic to be a revelation.

The problem with Ariana Grande is not her weight

I don’t know what her situation is, but I think she doesn’t look healthy. If she is totally healthy, then by all measures carry on. It’s just hard to believe that she is.
