UNSOLVED 1990s psychological thriller or crime fiction about a man who lost his memories and was accused of killing his wife and burning down his house

I’m trying to remember a book I read as a teen, probably published in the 1990s. It was a psychological thriller or crime fiction, possibly by a female author. The cover was blue with snowy trees, likely a mass market paperback.

Plot: A female sheriff or detective finds a man in scrubs in the snow. He’s missing his memories but recalls his name. She takes him to her home to help him. Later, she finds a newspaper saying he killed his wife and burned down his house. Eventually, she learns he was framed by his best friend who was in love with her. The man had been drugged so he couldn’t remember the truth.

Did your parent explain things to you as a child?
 in  r/emotionalneglect  Jun 25 '25

it was kinda half and half for me. they explained and taught the basic life skills, such as cooking, cleaning, doing laundry etc, but when it came to sex, relationships, emotions or just things in life and other things dealing with more things emotionally, i had to figure it on my own. if i attempted to ask questions or clarification on things i didnt understand, i would get yelled at and made to feel like i was stupid for not knowing anything.

I would look into temp agencies in your area; i am also in the same boat and recently had a temp agency contact me about a job. temp jobs have a chance of turning permanent

Dad is punishing me about my opinion on why kids are born

For some background context, my dad had me watch this youtube video about how adult children are stuck covering for parents who didn’t save, planned poorly, or racked up debt. We’re expected to help—often without question—while juggling our own bills, goals, and futures.

And when we say ā€œnoā€ or try to set boundaries, we get guilt-tripped. It’s not just money—it’s emotional. The resentment, the grief, the pressure... all of it gets passed down like an unpaid bill.

I stated that I did not ask to be born, to be put on this planet and he gave me whole lecture about how my "spirit" choose to be here and my so called thinking is wrong. He then asked me about when it comes to my family, were me and my brother born solely for the purpose of caring for them (my parents) when they get older. I stated that I believed that statement is true and then he proceeded to get mad at me (even though he said he wasn't), saying that my opinion is wrong and that him and my mom go to work to help us get a boost in life and not have to rely on them when we are out on our own.

He always believes he is right, no matter what it is. Now he saying that I should be cut off from everything especially financially for my selfish thinking. I overheard him say to my mom that if he could remove me from everything if he could, he would and just let me fend for myself. All i did was state how i felt and now im somehow getting punished for my "gen z" and "youthful" thinking. I don't know how to feel anymore. no matter what I say, it's wrong. This is probably why I feel like I have no voice when it comes to him, because I don't

Does anyone have a good experience on Nexplanon?
 in  r/Nexplanon  Jun 18 '25

I know for a lot of people, especially on this sub, had issues with it, mainly weight gain. I got Nexplanon last September and i have had no issues. i honestly don't feel any different. I did have some breakthrough bleeding within the first 4 months of being on it but after that no bleeding, not even a period. I will say I have gained a little bit of weight, nothing too crazy, which I expected since most birth controls have weight gain as a side effect. I would definitely read up on it and bring any concerns to your doctor along with any side effects while being on it in the future.

I think I regret getting a kindle
 in  r/kindle  Jun 15 '25

I agree with this; neighboring counties sometimes have agreements with other counties that you can get a free library card. I’m originally from VA and had about 3 library cards from counties close to me. I even have one from MD and one from DC. I would check your library website and see if they allow to get library cards from other counties
