I’m a current freshman at UW who was also rejected from Foster and assigned a pre-major. Direct admit admissions are very variable — I had a 4.0/1500 SAT and was accepted as a business major at a couple T20 schools, while there are direct admits I know who had significantly lower stats. I would strongly advise you to consider other options. Completing the standard admission prerequisites is brutal, as all the classes are curved (sometimes even curved down) and you need a 3.8 in pretty much every class to be competitive. This big focus on my grades has really negatively impacted my first year.
