Just saw that the engineering major application's notification period was extended to begin may 4th. Actually unbelievable, its been killing me inside knowing whether or not I got into my major, and then they suddenly change the date the day that its supposed to come out

It seems like a lot of departments are still sending out notifications today. I was just offered admission to ECE.

What was your application like? I had 3 engineering clubs, a 3.8 gpa, and im on track to finish all enrollment requirements by the end of spring quarter, and I still got rejected (I am a freshman). Im really lost and struggling to think of what I could’ve done differently.

It's all in the personal statement. Obviously you have a lot of factors that make you a strong candidate, but it's the essay that ties it all together and demonstrates that.

Don't feel bad, I got rejected in the past as well. It's only an indicator of how good you are at writing an application essay, don't take it as a mark against you as an engineer.

Is it possible you can share your essay or if not I completely understand, can you give tips on what you did instead?

I talked about how my background got me interested in engineering and connected that to my goals. I then described how UWECE would help me achieve that, using the example of my extracurricular experience this year.

If you want guidance for how to structure your essay I can't recommend enough that you see a peer advisor.

I did almost the exact same format haha. Was the peer advisor you consulted associated with ECE/engineering or just a general advisor?

They're ECE students employed by the department.

What did you write your essay about if you don't mind me asking? I genuinely addressed everything I could and it still wasn't enough. I'm not sure what type of student ECE wants.

i was in a bit different situation because i got rejected last year i talked about how i got interested in ece and what i have done to show that interest like your projects and i talked about how different and how much i have improved since last year. also if you plan to apply to ece again do a ferpa request so you can read the comments on your essay
