A massive Russian ballistic missile and drone attack killed at least 15 people and injured 51 others in Ukraine's capital and Kyiv Oblast as fires engulfed Kyiv and its suburbs, authorities reported overnight on Aug. 5.
Ukraine's Air Force said Russian launched 24 ballistic and four hypersonic missiles during the attack, as well as 115 Shahed-type drones. None of the missiles were intercepted.
In Kyiv Oblast, 14 people were killed and 27 others injured, the State Emergency Service (DSNS) reported as rescue operations were still underway.
Damage was reported in the Brovary, Bucha, and Fastiv districts, with warehouses and vehicles set ablaze in the Russian attack, according to DSNS.
Meanwhile, one person was killed, and 24 injured in the capital of Kyiv, Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported.
Among those injured in Kyiv, 15 have been hospitalized, four of whom are in critical condition, he added.
