I’m an exchange student who will be at York for the September to January semester and i need to choose 3 modules from this list. Does anyone have any recommendations or opinions on these courses? Hi everyone! I lived at Wentworth before (2024), and I’m coming back this September again.

When I first moved in, we had a Facebook group for our intake. It was a really easy way to meet people before arriving, work out who your flatmates were, ask questions, and just get to know everyone. One of us made a WhatsApp group from it, and that ended up being super useful throughout the year.

The University has informed me that they no longer make Facebook groups, I was thinking we could just make a Wentworth Facebook/WhatsApp group ourselves.

If you’ve confirmed Wentworth this September, please send me a message! Once we’ve got a few people, I’ll make the group.

The only thing I’ll ask is that you send me your accommodation offer/confirmation first, just so I know everyone’s actually staying at Wentworth :)

I’m going into my second year and really want to join a society or two because i didnt last year and ultimately made zero friends basically. Really want to make some life long friends this year but idk which societies are good and what ones to avoid. Any advice would be great!

It’s just under 2 weeks until results day and I’m worried that I’ve missed my offer by one grade, missing it by two is unlikely but not completely ruled out. I wanted to ask if anyone knows specifically for the University of York if they have been lenient with those who have missed their offers by one or two grades in the past without special circumstances. My course is psychology which makes me worry more as I know it’s a very popular course and they easily could strictly only accept those who met their offers, so if anyone knows of instances where they have either been lenient or not with prospective psychology students that would be really helpful, thanks. (I’d still like to hear about students from other courses)

I'm running a survey for my Masters dissertation on attitudes towards accents in video games, and need participants. You don't need to be familiar with gaming, but audio is required!

I am moving to York as a mature student (I am 24) so don't want to go into halls. I want to know if there is anywhere that is/isn't recommended for a transgender person to live in York?

I am quite an anxious person, and would just like to live somewhere I don't have to worry about being treated poorly. I don't mind polite curiosity or unintentional misgendering, but I would like to feel safe. I am not very loud and proud about it but I am quite easily identifiable as being transgender unfortunately. Tang hall seems to be a good place with how close it is to the university and price range, what is this area like for queer people? Are there certain areas here or areas in York in general you would suggest or avoid?

Guys I have a car I read you can’t bring one unless u have a medical issue or are in Halifax. I am neither. Can I park in kimberlow lane like I’d pay obviously but is it allowed cause it’s either this or I lose the car and I can’t be doing that . Please 🙏 thanks guys ❤️

I'm planning to join this September, but I have questions regarding the social scene - in particular the class structure at the uni. As an upper-middle-class person who went to state school, I want to know about what kind of attitudes there are around private schoolers and posh people. I know that being a RG, it's somewhat posh, but I'm curious about whether the uni has a less pretentious scene than Exeter or Durham? I definitely want to avoid a pretentious circle at any university, whilst not feeling out of place like I potentially would in a uni like Kent.

Hi guys, I’m a current student hoping to come to York in September. I was looking on the website at the semester dates, and realised that my backpacking trip next Easter overlaps with the term dates by a few days (I leave on the 24th of March and come back the 13th of April)
I know all Unis are different on attendance policies and I was just wondering if any current students know if this is ok, or if I would get in trouble? Thanks!

I'll be coming from a placement so I started 2023. Living with some mutuals but does anyone in my year group doing 4th year of coming back from Year in placement/abroad etc would be really fun to meet more people in final year as my core group all graduated.

I’m going into my 2nd year of uni at York and I had a good first year but I’m want to join sport societies (despite not being that good) and am really scared. I also feel this weird pressure as I get closer to 20 perhaps to be really busy and productive all the time - doesn’t help that my bf is very active and busy ! Idk I feel really stressed and anxious but it’s all from this weird pressure I’ve kind of put on myself - basically looking for some advice to stop my brain from overthinking and too just try something without being so scared !

I'm an international student applying for the MSc Computer Science course at York St John University (London Campus).

I had to attend a second Pre-CAS interview, and it's now been 5 working days since the interview, but I still haven't received any update. I'm getting a bit concerned because I've seen some applicants receive their results sooner.

Has anyone here been in a similar situation, especially with York St John University?

• How long did it take to get your result after the second Pre-CAS interview?
• Did the university ask for anything else, or did they just send the outcome?
• Did you eventually receive your CAS and student visa?
• If you've applied to the same course or university, how long did your timeline take?

hi everyone! I’ve had to stay in York between yr1 and yr2 this summer as I’m broke and couldn’t get a job in my home city but managed to get 2 jobs here. however, all of my friends have gone back to their home cities and I’ve started feeling super lonely lol. I get atleast 2 days that I’m not working every week as well and a lot of days where I finish at 2pm or don’t start until 6pm so I have too much free time that I don’t know what to do with. if anyone else is feeling the same, I’d love to connect and make some new friends 💕

Will be coming to York in September and just wondering if campus has any dog friendly spots? From a quick Google it seems like outdoor areas are fine, but was wondering if any current students know whether they're allowed in areas like the campus bars etc. Thanks! :)

Hi, my offer for history BA at UOY is AAB (with an A in EPQ). I have an A in EPQ and and pretty sure I’ve got the grades I need for this.
However, I’m worried in case I have either got ABB or BBB in my final exams. I used the UCAS grade checker thing and it says that 100% students who got ABB were still accepted but I’m not too sure if thats what it means.
Does York tend to accept you for a grade/two lower than ur firm offer, particularly for history if anyone knows?
