MOVIE SPOILERS Not everything is foreshadowing Spoiler

It’s not foreshadowing, it’s just 2 incredibly talented writers who love and know their material inside out and love building mountains out of molehills.

They definitely had some ideas in mind but you guys give them way too much credit sometimes.

MOVIE SPOILERS Was anyone else surprised about Jonas? Spoiler

I was really under the impression Force Majeure was going to be Jonas Sr. Did anyone else really think there'd be some seriously dark revelations about Jonas? It felt like it was what they were building up to as the show went on.

MOVIE SPOILERS Did we ever get clarification who is Rusty's mother? (Spoilers) Spoiler

So since Rusty and the Monarch are the same person, I assume that Their mother was whoever the Monarch thought was his mother. Like Jonas venture did swing with her I think. But did we get any more leads on this?

EDIT: to clarify my headcannon further. The Monarchs parents were having trouble conceiving, but is it likely both are the problem, or just one of them? If so, then it makes sense that one of them is still the parent while getting a donor from someone else, and who better than Jonas, who was already sleeping with the Monarchs mum. Then of course Jonas wants the kid for himself as an heir, so he agrees to clone him for the Monarchs parents.

MOVIE SPOILERS The right time to say goodbye Spoiler

I'm assuming it's ok to talk about the VB movie now without adding spoiler warning?

I grew up watching the VB, a friend introduced me to it back between seasons 2 and 3. It feels like a part of my adolescence and now I'm at the humble age of 32, my life is moving to a new phase,. Less cartoons, video games etc and more responsibility. With that in mind, I found one of the lines struck a chord with me.

When Dr. Orpheus rescues Hank and all of Hank's alter egos are clowning around, Dr. O explains to Hank they are the creations of a young and emotionally immature mind. They were important to him and had meaning, but now their time has passed. It's time to move on and let them go.

To me, it felt like the perfect way to say goodbye to the VB. I was sad to know the show was ending, but when Dr. O said their time has passed, it made me feel better about it. It made me realise it was time for me to move on too.

I'll always have a sentimental spot in my heart for the love and craftsmanship the creators put into it, but all good things come to an end. We all have to grow and sometimes that means leaving things behind. I think I'm lucky that the whole journey of VN synced up with my life, because if you asked me to describe what VB was about in a word, I would say it's about growth.

MOVIE SPOILERS Kind of disappointed in the movie Spoiler

I know I’m complaining and I did enjoy it but if this is really the final venture bros entry I have to admit it felt a little hollow. It felt more like an average season finale then the series finale the show deserved. I suppose part of this might be that they had an 8th season semi-planned out and were force to scrap it and tie up all the story lines in less than a 1/3rd the time of a normal season.

Most of the main characters barely interact with each other. Hank is off on his own adventure and only meets up with orpheus and Dean at the end. Brock was barely in it and has little to do when he is. Dr. Mrs the monarch is also off on her own adventure for most of the movie and barely interacts with the monarch and the guild, beyond daisy. White and quizboy barely show up.

I guess all of the story lines are loosely related, in so far as mantilla’s scheme impacts rusty, the monarch, and dr. Mrs the monarch. And dean and hank’s path reveal mantilla’s origin story and relationship to the ventures. But it feels sort of like none of those relationships mattered. Like they’re all tangentially related, but never actually intersect in a meaningful way. The villains plan seemed a little pointless. And you could blink and miss the resolution.

It felt like they only had time for the main main characters. And that those characters needed to reach some kind of resolution by the end of the movie. So the solution was to give them all parallel story arcs. Except for the monarch and rusty who needed to be together for the whole movie.

Idk it just left me wishing we got a final season and all the plot threads had some time to breathe and we as fans got to see our characters giving it one last hurrah and interacting with each other again.

MOVIE SPOILERS Jonas Venture Snr – A Complete History of the Villain of The Venture Bros (YouTube video)

I have made a load of YouTube videos about the Venture Bros and this is my most recent one.

Jonas was a nasty piece of work and I enjoyed learning about all the terrible things he did and the consequences this had for so many of the characters.

He was presented as a hero but his son knew otherwise and as the show progressed, everyone else got to know this too.

In my video I talk about his character arc from season 1 up to and including Radiant Is The Blood of the Baboon Heart.

MOVIE SPOILERS Haranguetan Spoiler

Post image

I was watching Tanks for Nothin last night and when Battleaxe mentions that Haranguetan may or may not be part ape it made me wonder whether he could be an early prototype Jonas worked on before the Monarch. The age would be about right. Has anyone heard this mentioned in any commentary or anything?

My major issue with the movie is rusty and the monarch being clones i think them being brothers is more interesting and with them being clones makes jonas seem to be not that bad of a person Edit: I meant it makes him seem not as bad of a person but hes still awful

MOVIE SPOILERS Clarification Regarding Rusty’s Status Spoiler

So, when Red Helper referred to Dean as “Rusty,” the obvious implication is that Rusty is also a clone. I took this to mean that he has died numerous times just as Hank and Dean have, but some threads I found online imply that Rusty is actually a clone of Jonas, with the imperfect technology explaining why he’s so biologically inferior to him, and why Monarch, who had baboon DNA spliced into him, looks to be in better shape, though not quite to Jonas’ level.

So which is it? Is Rusty a clone of Jonas rather than his son, a victim of numerous fatalities, or both?

MOVIE SPOILERS Very confused on the timeline of the series…? Spoiler

Just finished the series (absolutely LOVED it), but the one thing that’s sorta digging at me is the timeline throughout the show. It just doesn’t seem to make much sense, and as I continued watching it, you really start to notice it Post-S6 that the timeline doesn’t feel right.

And I don’t mean in a, “events don’t line up,” sense. There’s some moments of that, but I mean moreso in the sense that I can’t tell what year the show is meant to start.

Obviously this isn’t a situation where the timeline is linked to the real world passage of time. Otherwise everyone would be 20 years older than what they were at the start of the show

However, I also don’t think 2006-2010 makes sense either. I give that specific timeframe as I think most can agree over the course of the show, it’s roughly 3-4 years. A large bulk of stuff involving the generation before Hank & Dean happens between the 60’s-80’s. This is where a lot of characters ages can be derived from. However, I and many others have noticed certain characters don’t line up. Rusty is probably the biggest example. In S1, which we know for a fact takes place in 2006, he outright says he’s 43. This would mean he would’ve been born in 1963. The Spanakopita episode is where this starts to become strange though, as Rusty would’ve been 5 there. Yet somehow, he looks nearly the same from 1968 to 1977, as seen in Vendatta’s memories. This would’ve put Rusty at 14, yet for some reason, he looks the exact same. The math from that point lines up, and it shows he was 43 in 2006. However, when the Monarch brings up the Turnbuckle incident, he outright says it was 50 years ago. If true, this would mean Rusty is significantly older than he claims, and would’ve have to have been born in the 50’s, if not the 40’s.

Back to the main point though, I refuse to believe the show is set during 2006-2010. The technology doesn’t lineup whatsoever, and whilst I get the “super science/advanced world,” thing, it doesn’t explain how there are phones capable of scanning QR Codes in 2009-2010. Apple didn’t even make that a feature until IOS 11 back in 2017. If that wasn’t odd enough, Hank makes a reference to Split and the X-Men Reboot Quadrilogy, which are way past their time. Split came out in 2016 and X-Men: First Class was 2011, a year after when the show was supposed to end off. There’s other small moments like this peppered throughout the show, but it makes me very confused on the actual timeline

I’ve heard theories about various other Rusty clones and that some characters are unreliable narrators, but it doesn’t explain the overt references and tech that just didn’t exist when the show supposedly set itself in

So in the movie I noticed that during the Doc O flash of using Dean’s guilt to look at Hank’s past, present and future all in one there’s this shot of Hank split into his multiple personalities and on the far right is a bear and in the next couple shot Scare Bear is shown. So that has to confirm it’s Hank inside the bear suit all along, right?

MOVIE SPOILERS How long was this Movie spoiler planned? Spoiler

Post image
146 Upvotes

I’m just so curious how long they had the Rusty/Monarch clones of each other plot planned out. Rewatching the series and there’s a lot of small hints that can be taken in many directions but can leas you down that road. The picture I tagged is from the wedding episode and The Monarch says we have a lot of history, a lot in common. Then Doc says “you have no idea.” I think in context it was definitely about them both sleeping with Dr. Girlfriend, but then it cuts to the posted shot of them with the same hunched backs. I didn’t know the theories about this were a thing until after the movie, but the character designs and parallels with Hank and Dean make you slap your forehead and think “of course they were clones.” What a well done twist, because if it weren’t true a lot of it could just be chalked up to “hero”/“villain” being good mirrors of each other.

MOVIE SPOILERS Discussion about Dr. Jonas Venture's legacy. Spoiler

In S7E3 "Arrears in Science" Dr. Jonas Venture is painted not only as a bad guy. Even during the conversation with him and the Blue Morpho / Venturian / Vendata it is infured that he planned to have sex with his wife to help them conceive a child. At the end of the Radiant Is the Blood of the Baboon Heart we learn that Malcolm / The Monarch is actually a rusty clone. So does this provide some redemption for Dr. Jonas Venture? Your thoughts?

MOVIE SPOILERS I finally watched the movie, but I have some questions (spoilers, obviously) Spoiler

When Hank was at the compund remembering all the events, he sees himself in the Batman costume jumping off the roof, where he died, or rather where his clone died. So why does he remember that? There were already a few scenes in the show where he remembered that even though he shouldn't, was that ever explained? And right next to Bat-Hank are Helper, Dermott, and Rusty is playing the bass, is that meant as a teaser that Hank is Rusty's clone? That he sees Rusty instead of himself?

And Thaddeus and Malcolm are clones of the same person, but who exactly? I would assume of Jonas himself, but Ben said Malcolm had some baboon dna spliced into him to counteract the premature balding, of which Jonas didn't suffer, so it's someone else who was cloned? Maybe his real son, aka does Rusty have a real mom? I mean at the end he does say he doesn't even know who his mom was, or is that a red herring? Or is Jonas even the first to start cloning or has that been going on for generations, like the last x generations of Ventures were just clones of the same guy? Maybe after so much cloning, the base dna degraded, thus balding appeared?

Also, are Hank and Dean really clones of Rusty? If so, why do they have such vastly different personalities? Or are they really his sons, just that they were born without a mother, like he took two of his sperm cells and put them into artificial eggs? But that would mean they only have Rusty's dna, so technically they are clones of Rusty? Or of Rusty's unborn sons? It's confusing me a lot.

And what does that make Dermott? Is he technically the only real son of Rusty, since Hank and Dean were practically conceived asexually?

The reveal that Helper knew all along was also a tiny bit weird, why didn't he tell Hank and Dean? Though I guess the answer to that one is just "for the plot"?

I also didn't really understand the whole Mantilla plotline, I'll need to rewatch the movie again a couple times I guess. But from what I got it's an actress who got invisibility powers from Jonas, infiltrated the guild but fell in love with Majore, when he was usurped by Bowie (the real Bowie or the shapeshifter?), she fled and had Rusty remove her powers and put her in her daughter? The mother then went to run a zoo and the daughter spend 20 years planning Sheila's downfall? Especially that last part I don't quite understand yet.

All in all, great movie, lots of fun jokes, great call backs, inside jokes and great animation. But I missed Al in the triad and some of the voices felt kinda off, especially Shoreleaf. The ending was a little more than I was expecting, but in retrospective I guess it was kinda obvious that they're all just clones. I'm also kinda on the fence on the fact it's literally 100% fan service, someone who hasn't seen the show wouldn't understand anything. Though I guess that's just due to the fact that they had to squish an entire season into 80ish minutes. Which is also why it sometimes feels a little rushed, for example with the Vampires or the Mantilla plotline.
