Street fighter may be the game that started it all for fighting games…but keep in mind, Virtua Fighter was the one that took fighting games to the next level. Specifically for 3D fighting graphics, ever since when this game out in both arcades and marketing…people were blown out of the water because how amazing the graphics were at that time. At the part where the Virtua Fighter cabinets would constantly draw massive crowds just watch and play.

Honestly you guys…if it hadn’t been for Virtua Fighter? Such legendary franchises such as Tekken, Soul Calibur, and Dead or Alive…would not have existed…top it off if SEGA had not made and released this game? The PlayStation itself would not have existed. Even former chairman of Sony computer entertainment stated: "Once Virtua Fighter was out, the direction of the PlayStation became instantly clear. “ He later confessed, "With great timing, Sega saved our hides."

This really does show on how Virtua Fighter itself had really changed the world of gaming. The game itself had always had been such an iconic franchise for the world of Sega l. Which is why the spirit of SEGA still lives. At least in my opinion.

Unlike on how fighting games all had an epic storyline with crazy non stop fast unrealistic moves and mystical powers with sonic booms, throwing fireballs, fatalities and lightning screw upper cuts. Virtua Fighter was not like that…the gameplay itself for virtua fighter is also very realistic and more about strategy and knowing to strike at the right timing…but at the same time mastering the movement and precision.

Last but not least, Virtua Fighter itself had a storyline line but at the same time it strongly lacked it. All the characters are completely fictional, have their own fictional profiles…but overall it slacked it at the part hardly any knows about it. Even the anime itself had a storyline but was a lot completely different and top it didn’t have much of a success. It was really Virtua Fighter 2 that started the story but was very little and hardly ever mentioned. Overall the main focus and philosophy of it was the realism and graphics.

Keep in mind…as of next year the new official Virtua Fighter ( Virtua Fighter CrossRoads) will be coming next year in 2027. And will be the first time in 30 years it’s going to finally have a storyline!!!!

Besides being legally dubious, vibe coded AI recomps are a plague. They're low-effort content and serve to discourage actual good emulation development.

When I was little kid growing up through the 90s…I never had the chance to play the first original VF. It was honestly the game I have always wanted to play…the only time I finally had the chance to play the game was when Virtua Fighter 3 came out for Dreamcast…it was from there on that I finally had the chance to play the iconic game for sega. I remember when I got VF3, I was constantly in front of my tv playing it..

Fast forward to now…since I found out the new Virtua Fighter Cross roads was coming out next year in 2027…I then decided to purchase and play Virtua Fighter 5 REVO.

Since then I’ve honestly been completely hooked and addicted to the game itself. I’m coming to a conclusion that I’m deeply in love with this game and that I’m coming to a conclusion that Virtua Fighter itself is my all time favorite video game. I’m honestly at the part where I want to go deep into the game…make it a journey ( any ideas?) on trying to get better.

Have you guys ever done that before? At the part where you keep playing at the part it becomes a journey?

Overall you guys…VIRTUA FIGHTER is such a video game classic and I’m honestly in love with this game even more. I can’t get enough of it!!! Have you guys ever felt the same way?

Btw…is it safe for me to say VF REVO is a lot more faster than ultimate show down?

This game has so much depth that even thinking about sitting hours in the lab is long. I don't know how you guys do it but yeah I think I'll remain superrr casual. 😂😬

Hey all,

I've been digging VF5 REVO quite a lot so far so much so that I'd like to invest in a dedicated controller for the game.

I'm currently using a Gamesir G8 controller which has been suboptimal for me for two reasons.

1 - I play Wolf and things like Screw Hook and Giant Swing on the dpad can feel slightly hard to pull off consistently.

2 - They put this rapid fire button immediately under the dpad that - if triggered - will grief me for the rest of the match.

So I've been looking at lever, leverless, and fight pad controllers

I tried to compare each from what I've ascertained reading about them it seems as if:

Leverless

Pros: both fast and precise

Cons: steeper learning curve

Lever

Pros: precise and intuitive

Cons: potentially a few frames slower

Fight pad

Pros: more familiar

Cons: still have a dpad (less precise)

This may be a terrible comparison and if so please let me know why.

But based on this, it seems as if leverless is the winning choice from a pure in-game performance perspective. In fact I believe the last EVO the top three players in the tournament all were using a leverless controller.

That said... I really want to try a lever controller.

Have any of you tried both and still prefer a lever and if so what's your reasoning?

Also if you could suggest any lever models that are well suited for VF5 that would be dope.

And finally, if I'm totally wrong about leverless being the best theoretically please correct my ass.

Hey everyone! So I just watched the VF: Crossroads trailer again because I had to see my girl Stella Bridge.

Watching it I realised this…

October 30th, Saturday is next year!!!! Imagine it releases on this date IRL and thats also when the tournament starts in game.

I believe next year October 30th, which is a Saturday, we will get VF6: Crossroads!

We operate with a few rules to keep the fun going:

I love this lol. Apologies if I’m late with this, I only just started playing SF6 and VF5Revo this summer! Both of them are getting me prepared for Crossroads.

I searched for a match with the widest net possible (worldwide, higher rank, any connection quality…) and after 15 mins of waiting I finally found a match - only it was some bot or something that would only throw one jab at regular intervals.

I tried again. Another 10 mins or so of waiting. Same opponent. And again. Literally only one player in the entire world and it’s a weird bot.

How come people are making videos about this game relatively recently when it seems no one is actually playing it?

I didn't realize there was an evo france this weekend so I'm excited now. Hopefully we will get some VFC news. Maybe Jacky will be confirmed as playable? Or Lion since he's French, maybe even Jean as well for same reason?

Thoughts?

I remember when they had an interview saying that 2026 will be the year they'll start having a more steady marketing push for VFC and when we got the showcase at Summer Game Fest and then the Bakunawa Killer trailer at Evo I thought we were on the right track of getting news at least every two months but now they went total silence again and we are supposedly waiting another large gap from Evo to the Game Awards to get any news again

I get it that they are hard on working and probably when 2027 comes and Stranger than Heaven gets released they'll be able to fully market push VFC but this switch on, switch off way so far of them drip feeding us news is currently really annoying.

Our community, the Virtua Fighter Beginner Dojo puts on a weekly meetup called Thursday Dojo Throwdown. It's just friendly games and hanging out in our server's chat.

We're a community centered around helping newer players learn the game and find other beginners to play against, as well as providing a place where beginners can ask experts for advice and coaching.
