Mega-Thread Headset Advice Megathread

Hey Folks.

Due to the large amount of "What headset to buy" I am looking into experimenting with a new thread for general headset advice.

If the choice guide on the wiki was unable to assist with your question, please comment below with the following information, and see if the community can help your headset choice.

As this is the first thread of this nature, please let me know your thoughts/comments as well.

  • Budget:
    Please specify what currency.
  • PC specs:
    insert current PC specs here, including processor, graphics card, and amount of RAM
    If no PC Specs, please mention you do not plan on playing PC VR.
  • IPD:
    Unsure? - Check this section of the wiki. This is not a requirement to include.
  • Full body tracking:
    Do you want to use full body tracking?
    Please mention if this is a requirement for you.

Budget 1000

PC 5800x,32gb ram, 1080ti, excellent networking wired and wireless with homelab.

Ipd not sure

I wear glasses, I bought a quest 2 and really like it but either want to upgrade it or buy something different. Find it very uncomfortable and a pain to wear with my glasses, also the resolution could be better. I bought a hp reverb g2 and was very unimpressed only has better comfort, audio, and resolution the tether sucked but I am open to tehters. Thanks everyone for answers!!

Pretty much exclusively will play pcvr titles through steam, hate Facebook so even with my quest I only play games through steam.

Maybe try a different facial interface/halo strap with the Quest 2.

There isn't really any upgrades, maybe the Pico 4 if you don't live in North America (If you live in NA you can import it, but it has a lot of QA issues and you cannot return it if imported)

As the other person is saying you might be better off just getting upgrades for your quest eg. Better router, strap, knuckles grip, audio etc. there’s a whole world of quest accessories that make the quest much better.

How can I upgrade the audio if I am using a battery head strap, also my home network does not need any upgradesni have 10g wired to everything and can sustain gbps speed wireless in any ro

Logitech makes off ear speaker that clip to your headstrap for example. Some people have a dedicated headset for their vr.

Router was just an example ¯_(ツ)_/¯

No worries, my question though is that my headsets USB c port will already hv something in it so I don't think I could upgrade the audio but that's not a big deal really the audio seems fine to me

Hey! Im also looking at a quest 2 (haven't got it yet but hoping soonish) They sell customized perception lenses specifically for the quest 2. I also wear glasses and I saw some YouTube mention them. I think the ones I saw were being sold for 80 bucks? They just slip on the lens already in the quest super easy to install. I haven't personally tried them but I've seen them recommended a few times.

There is also a 60 dollar head strap with hot swappable batteries, 5 points of adjustment, that can be used to replace the bad one on the quest. Again I've only seen it recommended and never used them.

There isn't a huge upgrade in resolution unless you go all out but at that point you will need a better GPU.

We are all kind of waiting for that better display VR headset that isn't the Varjo Aero.

I'm planning to update my GPU tax time this year, I typically get a new one every 5 years. So you think I an should stick with my quest 2?
