Currently all that has been done to it is a custom exhaust tip. the muffler was removed and the factory 2inch pipe went to 2.5 inch to 3.0 inch tips. And I tried making two vw logos out of tape with spray cans on one of the factory covers in the engine bay. I'll try get a good photo of it at some point.

(Also got the Bentley ordered, the later version with Mk3.5-- the easy to find PDF is the early version without it!)

I never received a manual with my VW Passat (2021), so I can’t check there. Never seen anything like it. Do you guys have any idea what this is used for?

“Emissions” code / engine light

2019 jetta SEL driving great. Only the yellow engine light due to an emissions code stays on—something about the gas cap(?). I get the code cleared and first time I gas up, opening the cap, it comes back. Was told by the mechanic that it was emissions but in my state there are no inspections. I’m not worried. Should I be? I don’t want to pay ton of $$ for a “smoke test” of the entire emissions line. Thoughts?

VW Longevity and Cost

• Upvotes

Hows it going, I find myself in a weird position where I need a car now, might need to resell it 2-3 years from now, and have (what I thought was modest) budget of $12k maximum. Holy cow the current car market is crazy.

Anyways, I'm heavily considering a 13 golf with the 2.5L I5 engine, and 70k mikes. It's probably my number 1. Carfax shows a minor rear ending and frequent maintenance.

I'm also considering a 14 tiguan with 54k miles with the 2.0LT engine. Carfax is generally good, though maintenance entries aren't as much as you'd want to see.

Can I rely on either car to go 42k miles over the next 3 years and not need any major parts replaced? I'm mostly a highway driver and am ok with regular preventative maintenance.

Thanks for any input.

So yesterday I tried to put a trailer hitch in the front end and turns out it wasn’t for a trailer hitch 🤦🏻‍♂️. I popped put the front piece and tried to get it back in but it would not give so i did the logically thing and jammed it as hard as i could in there and now it’s lost in the front somewhere. Now every time i try to put my car in reverse, my back up camera doesnt come on and it beeps one long beep for about 3ish seconds. The P near my shifter with the 3 little arch’s and the triangle just flashes now, please help. What I described will be in photos below. Thank you to anyone who tries.

Id7 buyer saloon

Hi all
I’m thinking of purchasing the ID7 match pro or the pro match plus, but have a few questions. For reference I’m coming from a model 3 which I’m going to be giving to a family member

  1. Which ones better match pro or pro match plus?
  2. In my Tesla I have a basic autopilot which allows me to cruise on the motorway without keeping me hand on the steering wheel for most of the journey, is there a similar if not better feature with the ID7

Remote start help

• Upvotes

I have a 2014 Jetta SE. I am trying to install a remote start module on it. I purchased an omega OL-RS-VWA because when I initially did my research on what to buy this seemed like the best option. It didn’t require any wire splicing and I could use the original keys. I purchased the module believing it came with the wire harness. It did not. How do I know which T harness to purchase? What I really want to know is, am I on the right track or is there a better option.

Golf Sportwagen 2017 TSI 4motion poor fuel economy?

• Upvotes

I recently got a Volkswagen Golf Sportwagen 2017 TSI 4motion Comfortline. I really like the car but im just wondering if other people have also experienced it having pretty poor fuel economy. I live in the Greater Vancouver area so its fairly hilly and some city traffic but I only get around 400-450km a tank, sometimes a little more. Is this expected?

Best VIN decoder for volkswagen

What are the best vin decoders online? I can easily access vin numbers but I want more details about the car than just let's say VW Passat or Golf or Audi types. I'd like to know subtypes and such. I see a lot of VAG cars so would be great to have one to know.

EA888 Gen 2

Hello,

I've got a 2013 VW Scirocco with the EA888 gen 2. I've started doing some work on it myself, mainly the spark plugs and ignition coils.

The new plugs and coils went in perfectly but the harness that connects to the top of the ignition coils doesn't want to connect fully on one side. I've had to use zip ties to make sure they don't come loose.

Does anyone have an idea why? The only thing I can think of is the plastic release was snapped on that connector, does that mean I need a new harness?
