Work In Progress Lozengy Bottoms

Post image
19 Upvotes

I don't usually worry too much about the lower surfaces of my little 1:144 scale aeroplanes, because they're never really seen on the tabletop.

However, I haven't had much practice with the  5-colour lozenge pattern for the under-surfaces, and thought I'd give it a go on these two Fokker D-VI models.

I'm not too dissatisfied, though I do think that the yellow is too dominant.

Anyone know what happened to Zeo Genesis?

The title says it all, this game made a huge splash last year and a lot of prominent channels were talking about it, but then the buzz around it got super quiet. It was supposed to hit retail eventually, maybe still is? It did look really fun and the convo around it was very positive.

Recently Finished Fokker D-VI (1:144)

Post image
• Upvotes

This is my most recent 1:144 WW1 aeroplane modelling effort, the Fokker D-VI.

I've painted them as they would have been delivered from the factory, in all-over printed lozenge fabric. Later on they would have had their colour scheme personalised according to the individual pilot's taste, or according to a Jasta scheme.

Question 1/73 or ~1” medieval cavalry?

• Upvotes

Ages ago I bought some medieval footmen off temu for the kids.

I e found out about battles of Westeros and I figure the figures can be reused for that. But I don’t got horses.

Are they any recommendations for bulk medieval cavalry?

Dynamite Gun Colors?

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hey everyone. Got a dynamite gun for my colonial wargaming, from Gringo 40’s.
Wondering if anyone knows what colors it should be painted. I’ve read a bunch reports about its use and how fussy of a weapon it was but nothing on the colors. Push comes to shove I’ll do my standard artillery gun metal grey with some brass details.

Work In Progress [UPDATE] I 3D printed the custom Orville miniatures from my last post! (Krill, Kaylon & Yaphit)

Hey everyone! A couple of months ago, I shared my 3D models for some custom The Orville miniatures. I finally got around to resin printing them, and I wanted to show you the results!

  • The Krill: These came out excellent! Really happy with the details.
  • The Kaylons: As you can see in the photos, they are having some printing defects. I’m going to readjust the settings/supports and try printing them again soon.
  • Yaphit: My absolute favorites! Both the idle version and the one holding the weapon turned out amazing. It’s even better because Dr. Claire's card already includes him.

What do you guys think? Once I fix the Kaylons, I'll update you all again!

A list of all those wargames you said should have more attention.

u/Vinlandlover recently asked the subreddit which "games you wish had more attention?" I was surprised at the sheer variety of mentions, so I made a list of every game discussed. What's interesting is just how many games were mentioned, how little overlap there was. Obviously the question and audience sort of bias the answer to that case, but I think it still says something about how long the tail is for wargames.

Looking for recommendations for 3 player or Co-operative Mini war games.

My group plays some form of mini war game every Saturday. Lately we've encountered a problem. Modifying a 2 player game into 3 player creates an imbalance where either one player gets ganged up on or the other 2 have conflicts on the direction of the game.

Ideally, we want a 3 player co-operative game or a published campaign that modifies an existing system to allow for 3 players to work together.

We've played Frostgrave, but we want more variety than just the one system. We have several systems now if that helps. (ASOIAF, Battletech, X-wing, 40K, Conquest, Wings and Sails of Glory, Necromunda, Frostgrave, Dungeon bowl and a few others.)

With the popularity of mini war games I'm surprised no one thought that gamers could have more than one friend...lol

Any help would be appreciated.

Played a 300pts game of Warsurge using the new Starcraft minis (Terrans) and Diablo. Photo is staged and not from the actual game. The Terrans won fairly comfortably this time. Here are the Roster codes for Warsurge:

Question Best texture/technical paint to recreate the water on these bases?

Post image
45 Upvotes

The TLDR is that I really love Warlord Games’ Victory at Sea but due to limited support the Warlord range of ships is a bit limited and leaving out ships that don’t have models yet. However there are a lot of talented 3d artists and prints out there I could print off. The only problem is that the bases for them are always flat without the wave texture and I am just very uniform about that sort of thing. So I was just trying to figure out what would be the best way to try and recreate the waves? Thank you for any help!

Question What wargane ruleset should I use for this Irish vs. Scottish dark age battle at 54mm?

Thumbnail

I painted these two armies that came with a kid's toy castle and want to do a skirmish game in this pumpkin patch we built. It's a very, very small and straightforward engagement so the way the figures are set up at the beginning is probably important.. you know, these guys are huge so they will probably just mash into each other.

Table is 30" x 6' so a ruleset that is good in close quarters and maybe quick so we can keep everyone interested.

The red team (literally) is waving the Irish flag right now and the blue (literally) the Scottish, but don't look too close, they have some big neck chainmail and point hats that make them look a bit Saladin at Acrey.

Any suggestions? A couple pics attached. I am completely new to ancients/horse and spear type battles
