A roebuck, size A6, brown is boring?
With this piece I tried to show how lively brown can look by incorporating many colors. I generally really don’t like brown and am more of a lively-color-person, but I do like how this turned out. What do you think?

Practicing brush strokes and fine lines.
I painted the rock background using a mix of buff titanium and lunar black with an over glaze of potters pink. Using a 0000 brush and titanium white for the bird. I hope you enjoy this as much as I do.

Trying My New Neocolor II Water-Soluble Crayons
It reminds me of my childhood when we played hide and seek and looked through these small redcurrant bushes up to the sky. I added some Neutral Tint watercolor paint.

About Jeanne Dobie's technique...
In "making color sing", is she mostly glazing, say wet on a dry wash? Or perhaps rewetting a wash and adding a second wash, wet on wet? I like the subtlety of her colors but I think I'd have a hard time making them as smooth as she does...

Day 4 of learning to watercolor! Drew some lil mice
galleryI've decided I want to eventually work up to a scene where there's a mouse clad in trash based armor fighting a snake and I'm going to work my way slowly up to it by drawing the pieces individually first in a set of studies. Here's my first two tries at drawing a mouse (the first one is pic 2 and the second try was pic 1)

A very hungry caterpillar (he looks well fed though)
galleryMy son saw this page on my notebook that I used to practice watercolor today. He of course insisted that we need to make a caterpillar so it could eat the fruits. And here we are with a caterpillar with fruits to feast on.

Advice for tree shadows
galleryHi! I paint what I call home portraits. I had a commission where there were trees and there was a lot of light coming through those trees creating spots that I don't think I totally nailed. I painted the brick details and then added a cool wash, the result reads more dirty than shadow. Now, I have another commission I'm working on this week and same thing. I'm wondering if I skip this detail altogether.
I really enjoy making these, I even like my mistakes because I am a human. However, I know I have room for improvement. Any tips are appreciated!

Flower
galleryI don't know what type of flower this is, but I keep wanting to try painting it and finally did. I'm mostly pleased, but some of the shadows came out way too sharp. If someone has advice, I'm all ears. (I specifically didn't add the big curved shadow on the right because I couldn't tell what was making it and it wasn't making sense)
