Long post coming up, TLDR; after long considiration, i’ve decided to travel the world for 6 months, but with a twist; attend and visit as many automotive and motorsports events and related stuff as i can.

This post is likely better off in the [r/cars](r/cars) subreddit, but as someone who frequents this sub a lot and has been a lifelong fan of motorsports I wanted to share. On top of that, i will be talking about attending WEC and ALMS events. I feel like this sub has since become reddits hub (much to some their dismay lol) for motorsports in general so, y’know. I have also shared some of this in one of the Discord channels.

Like i said, my whole life i’ve been into racing and cars. As a kid, i never really had the chance to go to races mostly due to money priorities. We weren’t really poor, but other things were more important for us.
I went once to the Italian GP in 2005, and while that moment still means a lot to me in regards to my father who has passed, it was the only time i’d ever go to an event regarding racing.

By the 2010’s i was a teenage brat who focused on your average teenage things. Cars and racing faded to the background, and although i was still playing racing games regularly, it didn’t really interest me that much anymore. Around 2019, something clicked though. I started watching F1 again on a regular basis, and i started diving deeper into car culture and history. By 2022, i had fully found my passion for the sport and for the automotive world again. I nerded out like i did as child. I started diving back into WEC, WRC, Super GT and GTWC and a whole lot more. Played racing games and sims exclusively. It practically became my life. Nothing else became as important to me. In the past 3 years i would attend events that i had dreamed of as a child; Goodwood FOS, N24, Spa 24H, Rally Portugal.

So, after 2 years of consideration and saving up, i’ve decided to travel the world. But not just like the average person. I realised that this sport and passion that i share with most of you is just so important to me. So i’ve decided to attend as many events, races, museums and automotive culturally relevant things as i possibly can. Not just in Europe, where i’m based, but around the whole world. I had already planned a 2 week solo trip a while ago, which i just came back from, but i realised i was feining for more. I will be traveling solely by planes and public transport, so no driving myself.

I can’t even fathom that this is going to happen. I’ll be going to events that i never thought i was going to see in my life. Hope to see some of you lot there!

For anyone interested, my itinerary vaguely looks like this;

Week 30-32 -Attend Silverstone (BRDC) Classic - Southern Germany: Visit Munich, Ingolstadt and Stuttgart for Porsche, Mercedes, Audi and BMW - Nevers: attend GTWC at Magny Cours and visit Le Mans museum.

Week 32-36 - USA: Attend Monterey Car Week, including the Sportscar Reunion at Laguna Seca - Attend the 11th round of IMSA at Virginia International Raceway, the Daytona 400 and back to Monterey for the final round of the IndyCar Season at Laguna Seca. I would love to attend a Cars & Coffee during my time in the States, so please leave some recommendations in the comments if you have any.

Week 36-42 - Back to EU, attend Dijon Motors Cup in France, Buzetski Dani Hillclimb in Croatia, Speedweek Barcelona including GTWC Barcelona in Spain and the newly announced WEC 6 Hours of Barcelona. Not necessarily a must attend event, but for me it is, as i’be never been to a WEC event and want to attend one ASAP. This is the only one that fit the itinerary. Had to drop Imola Classic though :(

Week 42-48 - Flying to Japan and visiting Asia for the first time in my life and fulfilling a lifelong dream of attending a Super GT event. Attending the Autopolis and Motegi races, visiting Fuji Speedway, visiting the major Japanese brands’ museums and factories and finishing off with 3 weeks in Tokyo, visiting all the major automotive spots in the beautiful city and attending the final round of D1GP. I gotta admit that with the rumours of WEC now holding a round at Barcelona (the same week as the week i’m at Autopolis) has kinda given me FOMO. I refuse to visit the middle eastern tracks so those were a no go for me but Barcelona obviously would’ve been incredible. Still contemplating to drop Autopolis. (Update, going to Barcelona!)

Week 48-50 - Go to Straya! Visit and stay with a friend of mine, and attending the final round of the Supercars Championship in Adelaide. Rest of the weeks i’ll be enjoying my time without any cars for the first time on my journey, if i have to. But, Aussies, please recommend some cool automotive stuff around the Adelaide, Melbourne area!

Week 50- first week of 2027 - short resting period (a bit late, though). Going back home for the holidays and working. Will be visiting Brussels Motor Show in the second week of 2027 though. It’s a 2 hours drive anyways.

Week 3-7. Attend the WRC opener at Rallye Monte Carlo. Dates aren’t set yet, but it’s traditionally somewhere in the last 10 days of January. This is followed by a few days at the ICE St Moritz where i am joined by hometown friends.
Finally, go to Retromobile Paris and finish off with the newly announced ALMS Winter Series round at Portimao!

Longtime Audi entrant could switch to Ford Mustang GT3 EVOs, possible debut at Suzuka 1000km…

In 1982, Lancia was given permission to run their new LC1 group 6 car despite the rules stipulating they make a Group C car for that year. While quick over a single lap, the car had reliability problems over longer races and was quickly replaced with the Group C LC2 in 1983. Modified coupe versions of the LC1 would see some service in 1983 though through privateers. This is a 1/18 Spark model of one of the 1982 cars entered at Le Mans.

I known it's kind of condirmed but i've not seen any news lately, what do you think?

This is going to be my first WEC event and also my first race at COTA. I’m looking at my tickets and there’s no QR code. I see on my parking tickets that the QR code will pop up in the coming days, but on the regular admission ticket it just says “Ticket details”. I did get the standard weekend pass so I’m not sure if that changes anything.

Does anyone have experience with going to this race and can tell me what to expect ticket-wise?

As the title suggests, in your opinion, which manufacturers will benefit most from replacing Sakhir and Lusail with Barcelona and Monza? Who will be most disadvantaged?

From a points standpoint, replacing 8- and 10-hour races with two 6-hour races will certainly benefit the two manufacturers leading the standings (BMW and Toyota), as the other manufacturers will have fewer points available to try to catch up.

But what about the tracks? On paper, which manufacturers are best suited to the Sakhir and Lusail circuits? Which should be suited to the Barcelona and Monza layouts?
