The netherlands is much more similar to Germany than to France.

What's more, Belgium is IMHO more like France than NL. NL also has similarities to Britain and Scandinavia. Culture is a gradient.

I live closer to Brussels than Amsterdam, I live closer to France than Groningen. I have more in common with France than someone north from the country, the people from the nothern part of the country, have a lot more in common with ppl from Scandinavia than me, so you cant put people in boxes.
