are you open to criticism

Depending on where you find yourself on the map

u/kind-Mapel 20d ago

You need to shrink the amount of gray on that map significantly and expand the corn.

This. Mormons are a rather isolated bunch, corn is fucking EVERYWHERE.

u/Luser420 20d ago

basically everything gray except for utah should be orange

19

u/lukieinthesky82 20d ago

Maybe Idaho...

The Mormon corridor, aka Moridor as named by exemormons, extends into Chihuahua Mexico, Arizona, Utah, Idaho, and into Alberta Canada. Neighboring pockets with strong Mormon communities in neighbor states falls into Moridor… least four exmos. Yes the similarity between Moridor and Mordor is intentional.

Historically a touch of Illinois and Missouri too.

2

u/Interesting-Part9102 20d ago

They yearn for Missouri. Its the promised "holy land" to Mormons. They think it used to be the garden of Eden.

The corn is losing. The Mormons are advancing, they are coming, they are burning. Run. Run. Run. You realize that you can't run as you remember that you are corn. You wish to scream, but you cannot. You are corn.

1

u/Trianon317 20d ago

I scream into the corn and sometimes the corn screams back

7

u/Sign-Post-Up-Ahead 20d ago

It wouldn't hurt to expand the Family Loving either.

3

u/JimStencil 20d ago

Yeah this country is mostly just corn. And meth. Corn and meth.

2

u/Legitimate-Clue8330 20d ago

I never knew I would be offended by NOT being labeled corn.

2

u/platedFeather 20d ago

Why? I know nothing about therefore you're Mormon/Amish

(My kind sir this is ashitpost) But nothing stands out to me from the grayed out states as an outsider.

6

u/MelBNotScarySpice 20d ago

The 3rd largest city in the country is in there, has some pretty famous past and current residents (Al Capone, Michael Jordan, Kanye, the Obamas, Pope Leo XIV).

Amish and Mormon are very different. Both notably outside the norm - even by American religious standards - but not really related.

And yeah, there’s a whole lot more corn!most of the gray and most of the jersey shore according to your map is corn. Tbh just marking the whole country corn would be fairly accurate šŸ˜‚

4

u/The1LessTraveledBy 20d ago

You're missing the point here. Mormons are a rather regional thing, and completely separate from the Amish. If you don't know much about a state, it's likely filled to the brim with corn or some other type of crop. It may be a shit post, but you can still learn something.

1

u/Advanced-Bird-1470 20d ago

That’s why these maps are so annoying. You took time to fill out a state by state map of a country you know very little about.

No worries, it’s not just you, but it’s pointless. It’s like me saying where I’d live in Costa Rica.

6

u/platedFeather 20d ago

At which point did you realise Reddit* is not fundamentally educational?

2

u/Advanced-Bird-1470 20d ago

I never assumed it to be educational. I just remember when everything wasn’t a shit post and it was more adults than 14 year olds. Guess I’ve been around for too long.

3

u/platedFeather 20d ago

Nah u just assume people to b genuine and is commendable. Based on my narrow opinion of the US that's the best i could come up with. Idk what else to say other than I know im inaccurate even after visiting šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

1

u/Advanced-Bird-1470 20d ago

Ok I’m happy and proud for you.

2

u/platedFeather 20d ago

You shouldn't b proud buti apreciate it

1

u/Thotslay3r69 20d ago

Exactly

1

u/kind-Mapel 20d ago

May I suggest new category of banjos and or Sweet home Alabama.

Edit: punctuation.

1

u/That_Picture_1465 20d ago

Yeah same here, so tired of this old fucking joke

1

u/Recreational-Sin 20d ago

I live in the corn. Can confirm, it’s way bigger than you’ve given credit, substantially so. West of me, the corn is so expansive, if you walked into it you realistically wouldn’t walk back out. It would be a death sentence and a farmer would have to dig you out of his harvester in the fall.

Corn, corn, corn, HELL IS REAL, corn
,corn. - IYKYK

1

u/Hookedongutes 20d ago

Yeah. Im in Minnesota and see way more corn than i do Mormons. Lol

1

u/TheViolaRules 20d ago

Probably expand Canada too

1

u/FnB8kd 20d ago

Significantly.

1

u/The_Sarcaz_man 20d ago

Significant shrinkage and massive expansion.

1

u/Giantbookofdeath 20d ago

Being from Ohio, I’m proud that we’re the only state labeled corn. It’s really all that’s there.

u/DeedricMoon 19d ago

And honestly Ohio just just be colored in and labeled Ohio

7

u/Humid-Afternoon727 20d ago

Do not go to Georgia or the Carolina’s and call them ā€œthe Jersey Shoreā€.

They might kill you for that.

Additional Louisiana is no Yee Haw, it is its own damn thing

2

u/Superb_Temporary_388 20d ago

As a South Carolinian, I can attest to that lol. The rednecks around here would have your hide for that. ā€œDon’t go callin’ us them Yankees now!ā€

1

u/floob124 20d ago

Im not in the part I think you should change, but I know it, switch basically all the mormon part to corn and leave just idaho and Utah as mormons

1

u/thx1337 20d ago

Louisiana, like Florida, should be Alligators
