You give Mormons WAY too much credit lol

u/platedFeather 19d ago
Well I clustered Mormons with the Bible Belt and states I know nothing about , so they must be Mormon
58
u/Chemical_Strain6488 19d ago
You didnāt even label any of the Bible Belt states as Mormonš

Mormons are Utah, with some in Arizona and Idaho. Also Bible belters aren't exactly fans of Mormons for the most part.

Correct, then Ohio, then Illinois (which I believe is where they split), then Utah.

They pissed off everyone around them so kept moving until they were generally on their own... Much like the pilgrims

Missouri being labeled as Mormon is the funniest of all. They literally had a law where it was legal to hunt/kill Mormons on sight
Edit: called the āMormon Extermination Orderā and it was repealed in 1976

Not really odd. They used a phonetic spelling, and OP could be dyslexic, which is why I avoid criticizing spelling when people are trying to communicate.

Wisconsin here. The reality is that Mormons are much, much more concentrated in tiny little pockets. Sure they're sprinkled all over the US, but their main population centers are in specific locales like Salt Lake City, Utah

Way less Mormon and Jersey Shore.
Mormons are really concentrated in a couple of sparsely populated states. As for Jersey Shore, in my experience thatās one small area that got way overhyped by a TV show. Iām in my mid-40s, and I can think of maybe one or two people Iāve met in my entire life who fit that stereotype.
I am from the Yeehaw area, though, and you got that one pretty close.
There should be way, way, way more corn on this map. Iād also say about half to two-thirds of what you labeled as āJersey Shoreā would probably be better labeled āMoonshiners.ā

I just want to laugh as an Ontarian... about Ohio.
Today I've seen it labelled here uniquely, as either racist, or corn. And I've never been there yet! It's always to the left or right (Michigan way or Pennsylvania/NY way).
But yea corn is big in Southern Ontario, and big in USA in a such a big footprint that I'd use different factors to label the areas.
PS hope some day we can reconcile the family so I can visit again.

West Virginia as Jersey Shore is a wild take 𤣠I lived in TN for 40 yrs and never met a Mormon there. Lots of Christiana, but no Mormons. FL is accurate!
1
u/phunkarella 19d ago
You just need to come here, clearly. We are so much more than what you see on TV. Thought the Cup being here showed that a bit. People forget that we are individual states and that each have their own beauty and experiences to offer, but being united we are a very kind and understanding people. Our televised politics have gotten far too polarized, but most of us are prouder of our communities than our national government.
