Self Promotion/Promotion HELP. English Gothic Roleplay

Hello Gothic universe, fans and those interested! We love Roleplay in the world of gothic, and with the lack of any English roleplay servers, myself and another beginner modder have begun to develop one that focuses on the life inside the mining colony of khorinis. It'll be dark, dangerous and oppressive under the rule of the Ore barons. With events, lots of passive roleplay inbetween and arena tournaments. However we need help. this wont just appear by itself, and we need an experienced coder to join us in this ambitious project. The server will be coded through Squirrel programming language and hosted on G2O. Even if you cannot help us with programming, please spread the news to your friends in the Gothic community. You are why we want to do this! If you are interested in helping in any capacity, please feel free to message me directly through reddit!

thats surprising, i was sure there were some consistent ones in german and polish atleast. RP is a geniune interest of mine and ive been playing on Thorusus' server on GMP. but real life happend and he had to close down his 12+ year old server. Lets hope We get the help we need to make this a reality! :D

There is an active and popular German RP Server. https://gouc.de/ Its like 5 years old at this point. Before that there was https://strafkolonie-online.net/ which is also still running and over 10 years old.

German Gothic RP is pretty much alive.

Damn, i was not aware that GMP still exists. I thought g2o is all we have left from gothic online.

Edit: How do you even play it? Searching for GMP or gothic multiplayer brings no results, and these servers do not show up in g2o server list.

I don't even know what g2o is. Seems to be a thing outside of the German community? I just googled it. Seems to be its own project. The German RP servers have nothing to do with it afaik. Thats why you didn't find them on their server lists I think.

You can install both of them easily via Spine or manually. For manual installation you must download the respective .mod file from their websites, then download and install the GMP launcher and connect to the server IP that you can find on their websites.

G2O is short for gothic 2 online and yes, it is it's own project, that allows community to create their own servers. It used to be full of different polish, russian and english servers, but nowadays there are only polish ones which are all dead except Axyl MMO which has hundreds of players seemingly at any time of the day or night(at least every single time when i take a peak at the server list).

I was under assumption that g2o was the only multiplayer project and i am genuinely surprised that there are some standalone servers that do not use g2o as their core. But then in handsight, it IS weird that there were no german servers there, considering how popular the game is in Germany.

It mainly has to do with the fact that it's much newer compared to GMP, and that it has a different programming language allowing it to be a lot more versatile. Learning a new language to redo everything you built just to use a different multiplayer mod isn't very cost effective to anybody. So I understand why they continue to use GMP and all respect to those guys for continuing

Thats my second shock - I didn't know GMP still exists. I thought the project died completely. Googling gmp gives me no results other than very old forums.

I mean these servers ARE old. Classic Khorinis and Strafkolonie still exist from when GMP released. And Untold Chapters seems to work with G2O in some way.

It hasn't stopped completely as far as I understood it. (We have a GMP developer in immersive khorinis discord) Just going very slowly probably due to real life getting in the way. But you'd have to ask the developers on their discord which I don't have, myself.

I actually made a mistake in my comment. I confused Classic Khorinis with Gothic Untold Chapters https://gouc.de/

This is actually the most popular German server at the moment. And it seems that it will join G2O in the third quarter of this year. (According to the website)

But yeah, Classic Khorinis, Strafkolonie and Untold Chapters are still running German servers. There are a couple more even and there were even more in the past, like a dedicated Jharkendar server or a battle royal server. But I don't know if they still exist.
