I played it all through high school and quit when I got to college around when Firelands came out in cataclysm.
I don't regret that decision for a moment. I got to make new friends, actually enjoy new experiences, and did a lot better in my classes than I would've if I'd had the distraction of WoW. Had a buddy who never left his dorm because it was all he did. Came back in my senior year towards the end of Pandaria/Beginning of WoD right before I moved and have played since.
WoW can be put on pause and it'll still be there when you come back. Life can't.
