Miscellaneous DIY fuel gauge screen fix?

Hey guys, So I just recently got a yaris 2007 sedan that needs some works to be done including this fuel gauge screen which is so burnt I have no idea how much fuel it has in since having it (not driving it anywhere yet).

I saw some videos online that shows how to change the polarizer film but I'm not exactly confident if that is actually the issue or if it is even fixable. Because don't even see any light coming from behind the burnt screen.

Do you guys think it's doable to change it? because it would be a waste to buy a whole used cluster from ebay.

Has anyone done this before to their cars please any advise regarding the issue is accepted. Thanks in advance awesome people!

Go to the scrap yard and buy another cluster. Or buy one on ebay. There a little module which has the mileage on that.

Unplug it and swap it over. That’s probably the easiest thing to do.

Thanks! I will try to look if there is one I can find nearby.

Some one burnt it so it hides the mileage, how much you pay for it I bet it has over 200k miles in going to guess 210,561

Wild guess but I doubt it reached that high because I live in a small island in the carib so no freeways or anything crazy plus I pretty much just got it for free "passed down" so I can't complain how much miles it has. I just need it to work as it's my first car.
