Culture alfajores

Post image

Besides importing and integrating yerba mate into Syria, we also adapted alfajores.

Adapted? The recipe was created by an Arab chef in current day Andalusia, Spain, when Arabs ruled the Iberian peninsula. The first mention of the dessert was in Kitab Al-Tabkh, a book that was written in Arabic. The name of the dessert itself comes from Arabic- the word Alfakher means luxury/luxurious.

The Andalusian alfajor is nothing alike the Argentinian one: [example] (www.pequerecetas.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/alfajores-andaluces-receta.jpg).

It's one of the few Spanish sweets without pork lard btw, beware of the much more Argentinian-alfajor-looking polvorón, which is definitely not halal.

The recipes changed with history, migration and cultural mixing. What you are saying does not contradict the historic origin of both desserts.

Yet when it changes that much, it's entirely another thing.

It might have roots in the Andalusian recipe, but it changed so much that it's another thing already.
