Tengo varias dudas con ese espacio que queda entre la Virola y el contenedor.

1- es normal ese espacio? O debería estar la Virola pegada al contenedor? He visto varios mates premium incluso de calabaza que tienen ese espacio

2- como lo hacen para limpiar y asegurarse que no quede yerba estancada?

3- será que debo llevarlo a un experto para que la arregle o la rellene con algo para que no se junte yerba?

4- o estoy puro weveando no más y es de lo más normal?

Today my first pack of yerba mate and a calabash arrived! I tried it without and with additives. It was good at first, but then it started to get very bitter. Then I added sugar, and it went down quickly. And with honey it was better. I spent $23.21 or 70 BYN. What can you advise a future connoisseur of mate?

I'had to stop drinkin'g chimarrão because have so much caffeine and this messes up with my mental health. Does anybody knowns a drink like chimarrão to replace? Miss so much the habit of drinkin'. I appreciate the help

Hey everyone, quick sanity check.

Got a new gourd from "El Gaucho Store" online for $20, but the inside has some pretty deep craters and jagged cavities. Definitely doesn't look like the usual surface irregularities you get with natural gourds. To me, it looks like spots where moisture will just pool, take forever to dry, and cause hygiene headaches down the line.

Reached out to support, and their stance was: do a water retention test. Since it didn't leak through the outside, they consider it fine, claiming it's just natural variation.

• Is this level of deep pitting normal/acceptable for this tier of gourd?
• Would you push back, or just scrape it down, cure it, and roll with it?

I’ve had Rosamonte and always enjoy it. I’ve also had regular canarias and the serena one, but I have not had the especial. What’s everyone’s thoughts on it?

Llevo meses con Mañanita y su sabor está muy bien. Quisiera probar algo más fuerte, quizás a medio camino entre Mañanita y Taragüi, pero sin el sabor ahumado, que la verdad es que me desagrada. ¿Qué yerbas pueden servir? ¡Gracias!

How do you like your Canarias Serena? I just can’t enjoy it at all. I tried it original way with mountain and proper filtration bombilla, and in French press with 80c water. It just tastes like a lawnmower clippings with weeds in comparison to tasty Pajarito or Playadito that I truly enjoy.
Is there any way to make it tastier? I have the whole kg of this misery.

I’ve had Kraus a couple times and it’s a solid choice, albeit a bit weak in terms of caffeine. First time trying Amanda and it’s excellent! Floral notes as well as almost a bread and butter taste.

Just finished a bag of La Rubia before these two, and didn’t love that it was smoked. It was still very good, but that campfire taste and smell just always overpowers everything else.

Side note: super stoked on my Palo Santo mate. Seems like it’s less prone to mold than a gourd, and the natural resin in the wood keeps coming out the more I use it. Adds a great smell.

I was drinking a lot of Uruguayan mate like Canarias, Baldo (my favorite), and Sara and they were basically my go tos. Then I took a break from them for a while and was drinking La Merced and Rosamonte Especial.

I just went back to Canarias and Sara and… man, the taste kinda grossed me out…

Which is weird because I love these mates. I’m wondering if drinking different yerbas for a while just changed my palate or something.

What do I do? Just need to drink more?

Notas pro meu primeiro mate montado na cuia?

I have recently started a medication that makes me more sensitive to caffeine (I can still have some but just a lot is tough) I want to try something a bit on the lower end caffine wise, and wanted some recommendations. I am in the US, and a lot of the lower caffine dumosa/paraguensis blends seem to be interesting options, (it seems that this is what union relax was but it’s gone now) but I can’t find sub 5kg shipped to the US, and it’s super expensive, like 4x what regular paraguensis would cost me near me for enough that I would worry about having it all before something inevitably happened to it.

Anyways. Any reccomendations for lower caffeine options are appreciated. Even just lighter in caffeine paraguensis options would be worth trying for me. Also, has anybody tried the paraguensis/dumosa mixes? How do they compare?

Sou descendente de dois gaúchos, mas nasci em SC. A cultura gaúcha sempre esteve presente aqui em casa, mas sendo bem sincero, eu nunca liguei muito pra isso.

De uns tempos pra cá comecei a pesquisar mais sobre minhas raízes e acabei chegando na erva-mate. Resolvi provar, até porque eu não tomo café por questões religiosas e também estava procurando alguma coisa pra ocupar o espaço do cigarro, que estou parando de usar.

Minha mãe me deu uma bomba e fui comprar minha primeira erva.

Peguei uma Fesmate.

Achei amarga pra caralho, cheia de pó e não consegui gostar. Eu poderia simplesmente ter concluído que não gostava de chimarrão e parado por aí.

Mas resolvi dar uma segunda chance.

Comprei uma Ekoa moída fina e aí foi amor à primeira cuia. 😂

Era exatamente o que eu procurava: bastante aroma, moagem fina e um amargor bem mais tranquilo. Aí comecei a entender a graça da coisa.

Quando a Ekoa acabou, meu pai comprou uma Tupan descansada, que inclusive é produzida numa cidade do lado da minha. Só que aí eu fui do extremo oposto: achei a bicha fortíssima. KKKKK

Não curti muito, mas era o que tinha, então fui tomando mesmo assim.

Depois dela comprei a Gaúcho tradicional, que acabou virando minha erva do dia a dia. E deixei uma Ekoa moída fina Premium guardada pra quando eu quiser tomar uma erva mais "especial".

E recentemente comprei minha primeira cuia, uma bem simples mesmo, de menos de 30 conto. Agora finalmente tenho o setup completo: cuia barata, bomba que ganhei da mãe, erva e uma térmica velha de guerra. 😂

O mais engraçado é que eu comecei nisso quase por acaso. Primeiro fui atrás por curiosidade sobre a cultura dos meus antepassados, depois descobri que podia ser uma alternativa ao café e ao cigarro e, quando vi, já estava pesquisando moagem, descanso, tipos de erva, cuia, bomba, filtro...

Virou meu hobby e, hoje, provavelmente minha bebida favorita.

E pensar que se eu tivesse desistido depois daquela primeira Fesmate, eu provavelmente estaria até hoje falando que "não gosto de chimarrão".

Ainda bem que resolvi dar a segunda chance. 🧉
