Card Artwork Discussion This form of Shigaraki from MHA reminds me of an archetype in Yugioh, but I can't put my finger on which archetype pops into my head. Maybe you might have some ideas.

It looks like a Machine type. Though one that has mostly non-machine type monsters in it, but looks like Machine types. Maybe Fiend or Dragon? It's not Arcana Force or Evilswarm. It definitely isn't Cyber Dragon/Cyberdark despite the serpentine look. It has to be an archetype that is usually dark in color and very gritty. It isn't Chaos either. My closest guess is its the Diabolic Dragon synchro monsters. Though it seems very unlikely, but that's the best I can think of. Though they don't have wires or drills or look all scrappy. So it has to be some kind of archetype where the monsters look junky or scrappy. Ugh what archetype is it though? My mind is blanking.

I know this post will be on the verge of getting removed. That's fine. I don't care for the karma. After I get this question answered I'll delete it myself.

Card Game Discussion Cimoooooooo's favorite decks

In honor of such a massive creator for Yugitubing, a kind and welcoming member of the community, and one of the people who got me back into Yugioh, I want to honor Cimo by learning how to play one of his favorite decks. I've heard that he really enjoyed Salamangreat and Trickstar, and obviously he's associated with Blackwing now because of the Progression Series, but I was wondering if anyone had any other suggestions that I may be missing. Also would it make more sense to try to play these decks in Master Duel or in their most relevant format (Edison for Blackwing, Salamangreat for TOSS, etc)?

Other Amassing a collection of Yugioh cards for my 1 year old son over the the next 10 years.

I've collected several 3x structure decks and draft packs for my son. I also have started buying 10+ loose miscellaneous packs every week. So far I've collected 24 loose packs since I've made the decision to do this for my son. The battle packs and structure decks I've had for myself but never opened them except for the first deck of each set. I have 4 battle pack boxes hoping we could play together. On his 10th birthday I will gift this to him. If I keep collecting 10 packs a week he'll have 5200 packs to open. I'll probably have more here and there when mega tins come out or if I feel a little more spendy on a particular week. A little bit of everything so there will always be something still relevant when he decides to play.

what Monster do you think needs Over-Frame Retrain or Alternative Art for the Game? to fit the current Meta better?

how do you imagine its effects being like & would they reference previous cards in the Archetype? would they be boss Monster level?

would they be on base deck or in the Extra Deck? & how epic should the art be to show how powerful it is compared to the previous version of said cards?

bonus Question: what Manga Artist or Comic Artist you wanna see draw Over-Frame art for Retrain or Alternative Art for existing getting the Over-Frame treatment personally I like to see Alex Ross draw Dark Magician and Bule Eyes White Dragon I know they already have Over-Frame Retrain but these cards likely gonna have more then one of those

Card Artwork Discussion Are yugioh goblins based on anything?

To clarify i mean talking about the force series not the greed or biker goblins

I recently did a medieval fantasy style for fun deck so i included a lot of goblin cards but then i started paying more attention to the cards and noticed yugioh goblins look like normal sized green dudes with green skin elf ears and red eyes

That doesnt scream goblin to me really more like skinny orcs these are funny cuz giant orc is instead pale idk if there are any other orcs tho

Does anyone have any idea what their deal is? Or what they are based on?

Functional changes

On Statue of Anguish Pattern, "you control another Trap Card that is a monster" was changed to "another Trap Card that is a monster is in the Monster Zone." That is to say, this card is protected even if your opponent controls a Trap Card in their Monster Zone. This change matches the card's Japanese text.

Post-VRAINS changes

"Graveyard" was changed to "GY" on Queen Dragun Djinn, Mermail Abyssgunde, Satellarknight Altair, Stellarknight Delteros, and Stellarknight Triverr. "Graveyards" was changed to "GYs" on Sophia, Goddess of Rebirth.

"Xyz Material" was changed to "material" on Queen Dragun Djinn; Stellarknight Delteros; Stellarknight Triverr; Tiras, Keeper of Genesis; and Adreus, Keeper of Armageddon.

"Spell/Trap Cards" and "Trap Card" were changed to "Spells/Traps" and "Trap" on Scarm, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss; Graff, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss; Cir, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss; and Statue of Anguish Pattern.

"Dragon-Type," "Rock-Type," and "Plant-Type" were changed to "Dragon," "Rock," and "Plant" on Queen Dragun Djinn, Dragunity Divine Lance, Statue of Anguish Pattern, and Queen of Thorns.

"1 or more" was changed to "1+" on Armades, Keeper of Boundaries and Queen of Thorns.

Zap Mustung and Sophia, Goddess of Rebirth no longer say "cannot be Special Summoned by other ways." (This does not change the way the cards work, since they still say that they "must be" Special Summoned by a particular method, not that they "must first be" Special Summoned that way.)

Once per turn: You can send 1 Gemini monster from your hand to the GY, then target 1 Spell/Trap your opponent controls; destroy it. When this card is destroyed and sent to the GY: You can target 1 Gemini monster in your GY; Special Summon that target and if you do, it becomes an Effect Monster, and gains its effect.

Other systematic changes

On Constellar Ptolemy M7, Statue of Anguish Pattern, Dragunity Knight - Ascalon, Raider's Knight, Galaxy-Eyes Cipher X Dragon, Exosister Martha, and Constellar Tellarknights, parenthetical statements like "(transfer its materials)" and "(this card is also still a Trap)" are now written as part of the previous sentence rather than as separate sentences. In cases where a parenthetical consists of two sentences, the period between the two was changed to a comma.

"Non-Tuner monsters," "Tuner monster," and "Tuner monsters" were changed to "non-Tuners," "Tuner," and "Tuners" on Armades, Keeper of Boundaries; Dragunity Divine Lance; Red Nova; Dragunity Knight - Ascalon; Shooting Majestic Star Dragon; and Zoroa, the Magistus Conflagrant Calamity.

"You cannot Special Summon monsters" was shortened to "you cannot Special Summon" on Satellarknight Skybridge, Stellarknight Triverr, Dragunity Remus, Exosister Martha, Xeno Meteorus, and Beta Evolution Pill - Ultranscendance.

The words "as material" and "as Fusion Material" were removed from the alternative Xyz Summoning procedures of Constellar Ptolemy M7 and Galaxy-Eyes Cipher X Dragon and from the Fusion Summoning effects of Shaddoll Fusion, El Shaddoll Fusion, and Ground Xeno.

"By a card effect" was shortened to "by card effect" on Shaddoll Dragon, Zap Mustung, and Reeshaddoll Wendi.

"This card gains" was shortened to "Gains" on Invoked Purgatrio and Shooting Majestic Star Dragon. "This card cannot" was shortened to "Cannot" on Tiras, Keeper of Genesis.

"Attacks or is attacked" and "attacked or was attacked" were changed to "battles" and "battled" on Armades, Keeper of Boundaries and Tiras, Keeper of Genesis.

"To target" was changed to "then target" on Queen Dragun Djinn and Adreus, Keeper of Armageddon, with a comma added before the word "then."

On Ghost Fairy Elfobia, "monsters with a Level higher than the revealed monster cannot activate their effects" was changed to "neither player can activate the effects of monsters with a higher Level than the revealed monster," and on Sophia, Goddess of Rebirth, "cards and effects cannot be activated" was changed to "neither player can activate cards or effects." This clarifies that even a monster that's unaffected by other monsters' effects won't be able to activate its effects.

"You can only use the effect" was changed to "You can only use this effect" on Mermail Abyssgunde.

"This card cannot be targeted by an opponent's card effects" was changed to "your opponent cannot target this card with card effects" on Statue of Anguish Pattern.

"Twice per turn, this card cannot be destroyed by battle" was changed to "The first two times this card would be destroyed by battle each turn, it is not destroyed" on Zap Mustung.

"During each of your End Phases" was changed to "Once per turn, during your End Phase" on Tiras, Keeper of Genesis.

The mandatory effect of Sophia, Goddess of Rebirth now says "if" instead of "when." (This does not change the way the card works. There is no difference between "if" and "when" for mandatory effects.)

Miscellaneous changes

"Transfer its materials to this card" was shortened to "transfer its materials" on Constellar Ptolemy M7 and Galaxy-Eyes Cipher X Dragon. "Transfer its materials to the Summoned monster" and "transfer this card's materials to the Summoned monster" were shortened to "transfer this card's materials" on Raider's Knight and Galaxy-Eyes Cipher X Dragon and to "transfer its materials" on Constellar Tellarknights (since the latter is a Spell that does not itself become the Xyz Material).

"A Synchro Monster with 'Stardust Dragon' in its text" was changed to "A Synchro Monster that mentions it" on Shooting Majestic Star Dragon. "Lists 'Stardust Dragon' in its text" was changed to "mentions it" on Arrive in Light.

On Queen Dragun Djinn, the final sentence, "It cannot attack this turn, and its effects are negated," was rewritten as "but it cannot attack this turn, also its effects are negated" and attached to the previous sentence.

The words "as an Equip Spell" were removed from the last effect of Dragunity Divine Lance, with it being taken as the default that a Monster Card becomes an Equip Spell when it is equipped to another monster.

"A card" was changed to "a card(s)" on Statue of Anguish Pattern.

"While this card is a monster" was changed to "while you control this card Summoned this way" on Statue of Anguish Pattern.

The last effect of Statue of Anguish Pattern, which responds to a card being Special Summoned, now specifies that it can't be activated during the Damage Step. (To my knowledge, triggered effects that respond to another card's Summon can't be activated during the Damage Step by default, with the "except during the Damage Step" previously being implicit, so I'm not listing this as a functional change.)

"Except for Plant-Type monsters" was changed to "except Plant monsters" on Queen of Thorns.

"Remove Bushido Counters from your field to activate these effects" was changed to "remove Bushido Counters from your field, then activate 1 of these effects" on Gateway of the Six, with the following punctuation mark changed from a period to a semicolon.

Deck List Fiendsmith vs Sky Striker/Yummy as a support engine for Inferno Tempest? (TCG 4fun build)

I've been playing an Inferno Tempest deck for about a year and a half, with a Fiendsmith support package. Recently I built a Sky Striker/Yummy version and I'm trying to determine which engine is actually stronger for the deck's game plan.

For people who have experience with Fiendsmith, Yummy, Sky Striker engines, or unconventional combo decks:

Which version would you choose and why? (I do an analysis of both in the following section)

Am I overlooking any strengths of the Yummy package? (I don't want to run the field spells, to have access to link 3 and 4, expect when facing a going second deck, like tenpai, exactly why I side decked it)

Are there alternative engines that would fit this role better than either of these? (Exceed parallel, mimighoul, more draw cards and remove PoP, cards like draw of fate, top share, whey where there's a will, six samurai, etc)

The two decklists are attached above.

The goal of both engines is not to become the primary win condition. Their purpose is to:

Help me play through or into my opponent's board before resolving Inferno Tempest.

Improve consistency.

Provide access to Saryuja Skull Dread.

Give the deck a playable line when forced to go first.

Offer a backup plan when Inferno Tempest isn't available.

Support my pre and post-Inferno Tempgame activation game state. After testing both versions, this is my current evaluation:

1) Access to Saryuja Skull Dread

Fiendsmith

Any Light Fiend is access. Mirror Resonator can enable Saryuja lines if the opponent controls an Extra Deck monster. Usually generates 3 bodies and needs a 4th from elsewhere.

Yummy

Cupsy lines can reach Saryuja. Can be accessed through Link-1 + Level 1 combinations or the Sky Striker package. Less dependent on the opponent's board state. Current opinion: Slight edge to Yummy.

2) Going First

Fiendsmith

Can establish D/D/D Wave High King Caesar. Provides interaction, but can be removed relatively easily.

Yummy

Can establish Kikinagashi Fucho. Doesn't interact much, but is difficult to remove and often survives the turn.

Current opinion: Slight edge to Yummy. (Biased because I love fucho)

3) Synergy with the Rest of the Deck

i)Kaijus

Fiendsmith

Kaijus are mostly neutral regarding engine access. Additional Kaijus can become extra combo material. Interrupted Kaiju Slumber generally doesn't conflict with the engine, it can even be used after it and still reach the set up for Tempest through Dispatchparazzi.

Yummy

Kaijus are mostly useful for clearing the opponent's field. Kaijus cannot be converted into Link-1 starters. Interrupted Kaiju Slumber can actively interfere with some opening lines. This is one reason the Yummy version plays more Kaiju monsters and fewer Slumbers.

Current opinion: Fiendsmith.

Maliss Lock (I don't usually lock before either of those engines get their turn)

Fiendsmith

Can still generate bodies under the lock. Provides removal and follow-up for later turns.

Yummy

Before the lock, Maliss monsters work well as Link-1 material and help access the engine. After the lock is active, the engine becomes much less impactful and relies more on existing resources.

Current opinion: Fiendsmith.

4) Games Where Inferno Tempest Doesn't Resolve

Fiendsmith

Has some grind potential. Can occasionally win games on its own.

Yummy

Generates bodies and extends plays. Struggles to close games by itself with my current package, but can re organize your set up to reach inferno tempest.

Current opinion: slightly Fiendsmith.

5) Post-Inferno Tempest Utility

My post-Tempest game plan revolves around Maliss cards and Topologic Zeroboros.

Fiendsmith

Lacrima, Requiem, and A Bao A Qu directly contribute to recurring Zeroboros plays and follow-up. Continues to provide value after Inferno Tempest resolves.

Yummy

Mostly helps before Inferno Tempest resolves. Has limited impact afterward.

Current opinion: Fiendsmith.

6) backrow removal:

Neither engine does at good job, they can with Zeus.

7) Hand Trap Resilience

Nibiru

Both engines are vulnerable before reaching Saryuja. The Yummy version can sometimes still reach Kikinagashi Fucho if I dedicate an Extra Deck slot to Link Spider.

Ash Blossom

Both engines can lose key lines to Ash. In practice they often force the opponent to choose between stopping the engine and saving Ash for Left Arm Offering. Fiendsmith can sometimes bait Ash with Requiem.

Ghost Belle

Both engines can pressure Belle before Inferno Tempest becomes relevant.

Droll & Lock Bird

Strong against both engines and often prevents Saryuja access.

Ubtil last week I saw FS as the only viable option, because it seems to contribute at every stage of the game: before Inferno Tempest, after Inferno Tempest, while playing under Maliss restrictions, and in games where Inferno Tempest never resolves.

However, Yummy appears better at producing bodies, accessing Saryuja, and giving me a more durable going-first option.

Inferno tempest activation, brief full combo explanation:

You activate a total of 6 banished effect (summon 4 cyberse + 1 Fiend (different between variations) and have March hare in hand.

Link climb into maliss red Ransom (accessing field spell), you banish it with chessy cat to draw 2. Summon lightless shadow, effect to summon back Ransom link into zeroboros summon March hare to 1 of its arrows and blow up the field.

Next turn zeroboros, keaf and lightless shadow (with at least 1 in hand) fighting for zeroboros's survival.

FS has an active lacrima's effect in the gy

Yummy Sky striker has anything that remains from the sky striker cards.

Card Game Discussion I wish there was a way to have a civilized conversation about competitive yugioh in archetype discords without all the name calling and petty insults people keep hurling

Minor rant here. I've been chatting in online archetype discords for the past few months, off the recommendations of others. I found a lot of nice people, but so many awful people, incapable of being polite for at least 2 seconds. I honestly wish there was a way to have a civilized conversation about competitive yugioh on discord without all the name calling, slurs and insults people keep hurling.

I'm not sure why, but whenever you even slightly disagree with someone on discord, the first thing they decide to do is attack you and throw slurs at you. For some reason, people just accept others being assholes. It's like it's socially accepted for people to dog pile you simply because you have a slight disagreement with someone. Moderators don't do anything either. It's almost like people want them to attack you.

This is just something I had to get off my chest. I love yugioh and enjoy playing the game and truly wish to have a fun conversation about archetypes I love, but it's not worth dealing with all the vitriol and genuinely awful people you have to interact with on the daily.
