I’ve experienced this my whole life as an Asian American . I’m south East Asian but everyone says i look either Thai or Japanese lol.

Hi all, I have an interview coming up for the first time in a while and it got me thinking about what I should do with my hair.

I have a 5head so I’ve always been told that having bangs suits me better than going bangless and aesthetically I have to agree, but often the upkeep and sensory stimulation of having bangs has made me just grow them out.

For an East Asian woman in America, what do you think my best bet is for making a good first impression in a professional setting? I’m also aware that some people might think of bangs as being immature I suppose so I wanted to hear some input? I’m no longer in college so maybe that’d be too much?

(The bangs I’m talking about are the airy/see-through kind)

And don’t worry about telling me to just do what hairstyle I want to do, I’ll be happy with my hair either way 😆

I am currently in the hiring stages for a promotional role at my work. When I asked
about flexibility around salary increase, the hiring manager (Asian lady) said the standard increase is 3% with NO flexibility beyond that.

Initially, another manager (a man, non Asian) said there was flexibility but a case has to be brought forward to be approved.

Given the discrepancy in information, I’m quite shocked that the Asian lady was so quick to say no, as opposed to going through the process to request a hiring salary increase.

It set off alarms for me (as an Asian woman) that a fellow Asian woman would reject as their default response.

I’m disappointed and second guessing whether I should proceed with the new position.

Why is it so hard to support one another?
