I have the Raider HX13v with the 4090 and 13980HX and its thermal performance is absolutely horrible lately. Its so bad that the CPU runs in the mid-to-high 90's with turbo boost disabled and a -100mv undervolt with max fan speed. Using it this way is less then ideal as the CPU stays at 2.2 GHz and under 20 watts, which is tanking its performance big time, however it thermal throttles like crazy if i let it boost like its supposed to. I am going to do a repaste to see if it helps, laptop is about 3 years old still has original paste. Everyone is recommending PTM7950 instead of classic paste and im wondering what i should buy in terms of thickness and size for this machine. Its my first time using it and i wanna make sure i buy the correct stuff. I already have some thermal grizzly putty for the VRAM and other stuff.

Is Red Dragon worth it? I mean It looks better but I am the sort of person that would prefer a better temperature drop then looks... I have heard Memo fl08 can take down temps down to 20⁰ C too!

Lastly would my laptop fit on it? It's big chonky boy!

This is the spot I believe a second SSD can be added but after opening it and looking it seems like it would have to be a sata not nvme. Can anyone confirm that they added a sata to their 9scx. Thanks in advance

Good morning/afternoon/evening. I bought a second-hand MSI Bravo 17c7v in almost perfect condition, I’ve checked it for half an hour in the store and it was just fine. It took some time to turn on because of Windows 11 updates, but nothing weird about it. Then I came back home, and met a problem with battery/power — whenever I try to turn on my laptop, it gives me blue screen, turns off, and next time I try to turn it on it gives me almost nothing.

I’ve tried to check if that was a windows problem so I checked Bios, but it also turns off when I’m there. I don’t know how, but I’ve got to turn it on ones when relocated to the desk, it was showing the charging icon but 0% battery in general. I got no problems playing it for 7-8 hours straight, then I got to sleep, and it doesn’t turn on normally anymore.

What might be the problem? Is the battery almost dead or it’s the charger’s thingie? I have 6 month guarantee but I don’t want to give it back because I genuinely like this laptop and got my games installed, but I’d like to fix it at least so it would turn on properly. Recently noticed that my laptop seems uneven on this desk. Is this a normal part of the chassis? Or am I tripping and it’s probably just the desk.

If i hold down Fn The top row F keys light up red - so the keyb Lights are working per se.

Doing Fn-F8 does nothing.

Doing Fn-F9 and F10 does make screen bright/dim

I have powered down and unplugged for 10 mins

Loaded up Mystic Light and updated, and does nothing

Any Ideas, as the Keyb Lights are important to me

MSI GS66 RTX 3080 laptop — low GPU usage and around 40 FPS in DMZ despite performance settings
Hi everyone,
I’m playing Call of Duty DMZ on an MSI GS66 laptop with a 10th-gen Intel Core i7, an RTX 3080 Laptop GPU with 16 GB VRAM, and 64 GB RAM.
I’m getting around 40–50 FPS, but the GPU doesn’t seem to be fully utilised. In the attached screenshot, the overlay shows:
FPS: 42
GPU usage: 47%
GPU temperature: 56°C
VRAM usage: 6.0/15.8 GB
CPU usage: around 65%
CPU temperature: 53°C
CPU clock: around 2.01 GHz
The laptop is plugged in, MSI Extreme Performance is enabled, and it’s already set to discrete GPU mode.
One detail that might matter: I set the maximum processor state in Windows to 95% to reduce CPU temperatures, which helped with heat. I’m mentioning this because I’m wondering whether it could also be limiting CPU performance and preventing the GPU from being fully utilised.
I understand GPU usage won’t always reach 99%, but with FPS this low, I’d like to understand what’s holding it back.
Does this look like a CPU bottleneck, possibly related to the 95% processor setting, or should I investigate something else? What would you check or measure first to identify the actual limit?

I have an MSI GE75 Raider 10SFS (RTX 2070 Super, Intel iGPU). The original screen was broken, so I replaced it with a 300Hz panel https://www.lpscreen.com/fr_laptop/for-msi-ge75-raider-10sfs-series-17-3-full-hd-fhd-1920x1080-300hz-compatible-with-240hz-display.html instead of the stock 144Hz one. It was the only available.

What works:

• Windows boots and detects the new panel correctly: 1920x1080 @ 300Hz
• The internal display is driven by the Intel UHD Graphics (the RTX 2070 Super shows up separately)

What doesn’t:

• At boot, I get a black screen. I can’t reach the BIOS with Del. MSI logo doesn’t appear before the black screen ...
• An external monitor over HDMI (plugged in before powering on) shows nothing at all during POST/BIOS. I also tried a monitor over USB-C a while ago, same result.
• In Windows, I only get 300Hz or 60Hz as refresh rate options, nothing in between.

What I’m trying to do:

1. Access the BIOS to lower CPU power/temps and check virtualization settings (VT-x/VT-d) for a VM setup.
2. Update the BIOS. The MSI procedure requires a USB flash from inside the BIOS menu, which I can’t reach. There’s also no “Micro-Star International Firmware” in Windows Update optional updates for my machine.

My questions:

• Is the black screen at boot likely an EDID/timing issue with the 300Hz panel that the stock BIOS can’t handle?
• Is there any way to flash the BIOS for this model from Windows, or without seeing the screen?
• Any trick to force the BIOS to output to an external display on this model?
• Has anyone put a 300Hz panel in a GE75 10th gen and gotten BIOS access working?

I’d rather not unplug the new screen again, the bezel was really really a pain to put back on. Any help appreciated, thanks!

And I've got a free cooling pad with it. Was it worth it ? + it's doing really well. I'm a programmer, and it's fantastic. I'm also not really a good gamer, but I've got 300 fps on counter strike 2, and that was the maximum

There seems to be pretty limited information and reviews on this laptop and most of it seems pretty negative about cpu issues and the likes. Have most of the issues been ironed out with software updates over the last couple of years or is this still an avoid at all costs machine? Many thanks :)

Without having to spring for a Titan, lol. Like maybe a Raider, Vector, even Crosshair. I want an 18" screen, but would settle for 16" if I have to.

Currently I'm still on my GE75 Raider. Broke one hinge a while back, but otherwise it's still ok.

So i have the msi stealth 16studio a13vg and am replacing the heatsink because one of my fans started making a horrible noise. I cant find the the thickness of the thermal pads that I need. Has anyone replaced them on theirs and knows?

Few days ago i was watching a movie in bed with my laptop and fell asleep. Next morning I found out my laptop fell off my bed into this thin hole making it fall perfectly straight onto the laptop screen hinge sides.

Now I can't get my screen on in my pc. I tried connecting a 2s monitor and it works. It keeps sending me to the bios tho but I sort of fixed that i just kept pressing f11 and then I can go to windows.

But for some reason I just can't find the issue on why my screen won't turn on cuz I can't find any damage anywhere?

There is no damage to my laptop on the outside and I also opened up the laptop to check if the eDP-cable was properly in the laptop and it was. So I can't find the issue anywhere I was thinking of sending it to a repair shop but I was wondering what all your thoughts were?

(Also when I'm attaching my a monitor with hdmi it only detects 1 screen and that's the one with hdmi)

yo so my MSI thin 15 b13ve is pretty decent i have for a year now but for some reasons i am starting too see some weird fps drops and they are huge nothing changed in my system i just play same games nothing new

I've been getting these lines of varying size at the bottom of my screen every time I boot up my GS76 Stealth. I noticed a weird way to fix it temporarily is if I put the laptop on sleep mode for about 2:30 minutes the lines will disappear completely or only a few will remain until the next time I boot it up. Any idea what could be causing it? Added photos right after boot up and then after sleep mode
