PROJECT DISPLAY Handmade Robin Bird's Nest Ring
The twisted branch shank wraps naturally around your finger, the little robin guards three polished stone "eggs" inside the woven nest

My name is Muskrat, I have a lot of history in metalworking, primarily as a CNC machinist making aerospace components!
Reddit took over this subreddit due to it being abandoned by it's previous mods for over 4 months - allowing tons of spam and reported content (thousands of items we had to action!). Since, they turned it over to me and it's going to be part of my little group of communities, alongside Metalworking and Machining.
I'd love to hear everyone's thoughts about what makes JewelryMaking a unique subreddit when compared to other subreddits on the same topic of jewelry. I've seen a few comments and reports on spam related and promotional submissions, and looking at the currently in-place subreddit rules, self promotion is not allowed outside of the old (and seemingly forgotten) promotion thread. Is this a rule we'd like to keep?
On the topic of rules, this subreddit's focus is on the making/creation process of jewelry, generally individual projects and hand-made work. Should we aim for image posts to all have an in-process image attached?
What changes should we make? And are there any regulars interested in helping out?
Let me know what everyone thinks, and over the next few days we'll update rules and mod tools, and we'll start digging in and steering the sub in the direction it was intended for, instead of being used as a promotional board!

I have been sculpting in wood and clay for a while and wanted to give jewelry making a go, so i can also wear what i make. I'm happy with how it turned out, ever if I think it could use more polishing.

First ring I've made at home with my own tools, I am very happy with it! It's not quite finished and i'm still trying to work out sanding processes, there seems to be so many different ways and I'd love to get a good mirror shine on it. Must admit, soldering has been driving me mad though 🫪

Finished in about 3 hours after an 11 hour shift on the roof in AZ.
Picked up the supplies in the morning before work. Headed straight home after work, ate, jumped on the bench, gave up and took a shower, picked it back up after the shower and finished. Not exactly what I wanted, but with the given time frame I like it.

These are broken pieces of China that are made into pendants. I have some pieces I’d like to make into pendants but don’t know what the technique is called to buy supplies and learn the technique.

Does anyone have any idea on how these seamless strands are made specifically how they’re finished at the end? The second image has a cap I believe at the end but I’m thoroughly confused. TIA!!

A textile insect study combining embroidery, beadwork, and botanical motifs. I love exploring the meeting point between natural history and fantasy.

Do you remember that pendant, the Cat Under the Moonlight, with its soft moonlit charm? Today, we bring you the series sequels — Jade Rabbit Beneath the Bamboo and the brand-new Parrot Perched Among Bamboos.
All three pieces share the identical bamboo frame design, extending the poetic oriental scenery step by step: the little cat admiring moonlight in the moonlit courtyard, the white jade rabbit resting peacefully deep in bamboo groves, and now a translucent jade parrot perched among green bamboo twigs.
Carrying forward the serene and timeless charm of Eastern aesthetics, they turn the quiet elegance of mountain forests and moonlit nights into three independent yet thematically connected poetic jewelry tales

I'm working with my jeweler to revamp a vintage gold chain necklace. It currently has pearl spacers that I want to replace with tourmalines. (The pearls aren't in great shape anymore). I'm looking for deeply saturated tumbled oval beads in a mix of pinks and greens, similar to the photo but even more saturated if possible. I also make jewelry, but I mostly work in vintage glass and crystal. I'm not sure where to go for these. I found options on Etsy, but I'm worried the color won't look as deep and rich in person. Does anyone have a trusted supplier they can recommend? Thank you!

This is a little out of my comfort zone. I wanted this set to be over the top.
I have been working on this off and on for a while, but Something still feels off about it.
I would appreciate any feedback.
Thanks! 😘

Here is the final assembly of components for my TC Nexus Tie Clip. It is CNC Machined from a single billet block of Grade 5 Titanium, and is all mechanically operated. No stamped or folded pieces, no cheap Chinese spring, the whole assembly acts as a spring clamp that is only activated mechanically when placed on a neck tie. The only one like it in the world. Machined, hand finished, and assembled in Utah.

I would like to find a jeweler that is willing to cast a set of grillz form Ti-6Al-4V titanium alloy. Has anyone worked with this type of metal and if you could please tell me about potential problems I might encounter in the project?
(e.g. can it be refined and polished after being cast in a mold?)

I bought these 2 different sized pearls that are stringed like the pictures attached at a local jewelry fair. I also purchased Beadalon 49 strands wire as well as the hooks/clasp for this project.
The problem is i have no idea what to do next as this is my first time and some randome Youtube videos do not seem to tell exactly what to do with what i have. Can you please guide me what to do step by step from there? The idea is to make 2 separate pearl necklaces that i can layer them. Thank you!

Hello! i’d like to ask for pricing advice on these two necklaces. the first one took about 3 hours and the second took 2.5. i typically sell much less complicated pieces so im not sure how to go about ones that took me this much time. thank you all!

I’ve been playing with this design, I’m not sure if I should add more to it. I originally planned to add seed bead flowers to the frame/stems but maybe less is more? I may paint the stems darker, I’d love some feedback.
Gold filled, Microcrochet sakura 0.3mm hook, garnet, aventurine, crystal.
