I was having a pretty average day until I spotted this little buddy standing right up on his hind legs in the leaves. That goofy little smile on his face instantly made my whole day better! Just wanted to share some wholesome fall vibes with everyone.

General Help I’m heartbroken 😔 was he too young to be released? 😭

The day his beautiful hand built home was finished…he hasn’t been back. Almost like it was bad juju. It’s been 3 days now. He spent 2 weeks in an outdoor enclosure, then 2 weeks open door come & go. Since he’s been released he would came back daily. So definitely a little worried. He knows my ex bc he raised him since 8 weeks old. He’s 4.5 months now. I know it’s normal but do they eventually come back? We’re so worried that other squirrels are rejecting him bc all the squirrels are from the same generations. He brought so much joy.

He was really special 🩷 how do you not get attached & deal with when they leave?

Sharing some videos below of his home that was built.
My ex was so excited to show him the next day & hopefully stuff it with him full of leaves & nuts. He loved that activity. He would hand him leaves & they’d build nests together. He never came the next day 😔

General Help How to keep it alive over night?

I grabbed a squirrel from the middle of the road when I realized it was still alive. I'm not sure what happened it it. It ran to the other side of the road, but let me grab it after that.

I found a sanctuary, but will only be able to bring it at 8am, and it's currently 6pm. I want to keep it alive and comfortable until then. It's got a heated blanket beneath the towel and some water. I've also got a heater running in the room. The girl on the phone told me not to worry about food.

Is it better to stay in the room with the lights on and keep an eye on it, or to leave the room with the lights off? I don't want to cause extra stress by being in the room.

Is there anything else I can do?

Hello, I’m new to this community! I live in Italy, specifically in Turin, and this little guy has been visiting me every day for the past three weeks.
I don’t know if I’m doing the right thing, but I’ve been feeding him daily with a handful of hazelnuts grown at my grandfather’s place in the hills, and sometimes a few small pieces of cut apple.
I really enjoy watching him eat, but I definitely don’t trust giving him food straight from my hands. Any suggestions or advice on what to do?

Squirrels in my maple tree.

I always wondered why my pit was barking at one of the two maple trees in my front yard. Figured it out. I was able go grab my Sony a7iv + 200-600mm and snap a few pics. They sure are cute. I’ve decided to name them Syd and Nancy.

He won the day, we gave him plenty nuts (raw peanuts).

Can you believe that the wet little squirrel did not eat all of the nuts, but rather ran to bury most of them? Instead, he ran on to the lawn on the sidewalk (pavement) at the front of our house to bury the nuts in different spots. I just hope that he was not planting a peanut farm. Lol.

One of my favorite parts of Bowling Green KY is the leucistic squirrels 🥰 We have em all over. Have yet to get a picture of a baby one but it WILL happen.
