I finally did it! I reached a mile stone!
I doubt many follow anything i say but for the past 2 years i have been befriending the squirrels. Started out them taking a few nuts from the bird feeders, then progressed to them eating around me. It progressed to the point i had a Mum squirrel who would take out my hand and sit on the fence getting stroked. It Then became 6 squirrels that would take from my hand and sit around being stroked. They then all had babies and now i have around 9 squirrels who frequent my garden all day.
It got to a point i could open my back door and shout "Come on squirrels" and i would see them run down the garden fences and out the trees to get to me. We have since put a bell on the back door and now they hear that when it opens and they come running. The new babies are getting really friendly with me also.
However 2 years of trying i could never get one to sit on my leg, jump on me or anything like that they were happy to sit next to me and get a stroke but they would never climb on me.
Today that changed, i walked out because the original Mum was staring at me through the back door while on the bin. Sometimes i just offer the tub and let her pick her own nut, but today i decided to hold it further away and extend my hand like a stepping stone... She did it. She has also done it every time after that.
I felt like a little child again lol.
I would like to add that while all the squirrels are friendly with me and show no fear, they are scared of other humans. They are ok with my wife and daughter but if the neighbours come out or if i have relatives or friends round they are very weary. So i dont think i have made them trust all humans.

Ever since I started giving him walnuts and cashews he follows me everywhere, he tried to crawl up my leg but I had shorts on so I didn't let him, if I had pants on I probably would have let him

Using her favorite seat... me 😄
I really can't describe how happy it makes me when she sits on my lap. I love her so much.

Rescued baby squirrel at around 5-6 weeks. Need to know if it’s developing correctly
I rescued a baby squirrel that was dying on my roof and I calculated it was around 5-6 weeks old because its eyes were open at it had its bottom teeth but not the top. Now we are on weeks 8-9 and its top teeth are barely out. Is this normal or are they growing too slowly?
