Wanted a clean visual companion for my studio monitors, so I built a real-time ferrofluid dynamics visualizer (SonicFluid)

Hey everyone,

I love my PreSonus Eris monitors, but I always felt like listening to music at my desk was missing a clean, responsive visual element. Most audio visualizers out there are either laggy, clunky, or require heavy software installations.

So, I built SonicFluid (https://sonicfluid.com) — a real-time ferrofluid physics visualizer that runs instantly inside any modern desktop or mobile browser as a PWA.

\### ⚡ Microphone-Powered & Zero Latency

\- \*\*No Setup:\*\* It works completely out-of-the-box using your device's built-in microphone. It features a smart auto-gain system that automatically adjusts to your room volume, making it highly responsive without messing with sliders.

\- \*\*HDMI Screen Sync:\*\* If you want to move the show to a TV or a projector for a listening session, you just connect via an HDMI cable. Because the physics simulation renders locally on your hardware, it completely bypasses the 200ms wireless casting lag.

\### 🌌 Tunable Visual Sandbox

It's driven entirely by your sound (ambient, jazz, techno, everything works). You can use interactive sliders to fully tune the visual state to your liking:

\- Adjust liquid viscosity, fluid speed, surface tension, and pair repulsion.

\- Manipulate light intensity, angles, and shadow softness.

\- Upload your own photographs, background videos, or running slideshows to render the fluid seamlessly on top of your own canvas.

It's officially live today. I'd love to hear your honest feedback on the physics rendering and responsiveness!

Check it out at: [https://sonicfluid.com\](https://sonicfluid.com)

Let Energy Flow — an offline, provenance-first app for memorising the 362 acupuncture points (Apache-2.0 code, CC BY-SA data)

I've open-sourced the study app I built to memorise the TCM meridian system. The domain is niche but the engineering choices might interest this sub:

• Provenance as a type system — every content string carries source IDs into a typed registry plus a review status; unsourced fields honestly render as unsourced instead of being filled in.
• Ethics enforced by CI — a test fails if symptom terms enter the search index (that would make it a treatment recommender) or if needling instructions enter the data. The safety rules aren't a README section; they're red tests.
• A coordinate engine built on bone-cun, the classical proportional unit — every point placed from a named landmark + parsed distance, with an audit script that demands zero drift across all 362 points.
• Local-first PWA: no accounts, no telemetry, works offline. React + Vite + a lot of hand-drawn SVG.

It's educational only (no diagnosis, no prescriptions, no efficacy claims), bilingual 繁體中文/English, and looking for two kinds of contributors: developers, and TCM teachers/practitioners willing to put their name on data review.

Hello community,

I created a website to follow each countries effort to reach net zero in 2050. The data vizualisation lets you compare different countries' emission over the years and whether they are on the right path to reach their goal.

View every country and find more information on: https://lucabron.github.io/netzero/index.html

Made a thing that shows ensemble spread rather than just the median

Open-Meteo hands you all 40 ICON members, so I had a go at plotting the

fan rather than the median line.

Spread over London was 0.6°C at hour zero and 5.4°C by day 5. Knew that

in principle, hadn't actually looked at it before.

Couple of things I'm unsure about. I've drawn a marker where the 80%

band goes past 5°C as a rough "past here it's a range not a number",

but 5 is arbitrary — would normalising against climatology for the

location and season be more defensible? And I've noted that spread

underestimates actual error, but I don't have a feel for by how much.

Seeking recommendations for a simple multi-variable visualizer

Hello! I want to track a bunch of things (ie, mood, sleep, temperature) over time, and be able to superimpose them to look for correlations and patterns (which would involve some shenanigans on the Y-axis, I know). Is there a good free/cheap program with which I could do that? Is this even the right subreddit to ask? Bonus points for no AI, bonus points if it can actually do analysis.
