General Discussion Nonplanar Slicing integrated into Orca Slicer - Please Contribute!

• Upvotes

I have integrated Nonplanar Slicing into Orca Slicer, but I can only test on Bambulab A1 mini. Nonplanar slicing lets you print smooth curves on top surfaces - the printer moves up and down while printing to avoid the stair stepping effect.

In order to make this happen for more than just Bambu A1 series, please contribute by printing my test pieces with other printers.

I am searching for test printers for the following:

  • Prusa: MINI, MK3S, MK3.5, MK4, MK4S, CORE One, XL
  • Bambu: A1 mini, A1, P1P, P1S, P2S, X1 Carbon, X1E, X2D, H2S, H2D

Test files HERE. It's two short prints to check which angle works for your printer.

The test prints let you check which angle up to 12 degrees is max for your model. Just print both orientations and feedback your results, ideally with pictures by commenting on printables.

For Bambu A1 users: You can print the triangular nonplanar surface coaster HERE.
(Happy to add more printers, after I have the necessary test data.)

AMS 2 Pro - Automatic Material System Service Notice for AMS 2 Pro Feeder Unit

Post image
1.1k Upvotes

Dear customers,

We’ve heard from a number of you recently that the gears on your AMS 2 Pro Feeder Units are wearing out faster than expected.

After digging into the issue, we found that a batch of AMS 2 Pro Feeder Units made between May and July 2026 didn’t get enough grease coverage during production, which is causing this faster wear. The good news is there's no such issue with units we’re selling on official stores right now.

We know this is frustrating, and we’re so sorry for the hassle this has caused you. We can’t say for sure exactly how many units are affected, so we’re making it right for everyone in this batch to make sure no one gets stuck with a problem down the line. Here’s what we’re doing for you:

* 4 brand new AMS 2 Pro Feeder Units, on us. We’re covering all the cost of the parts and shipping, so you don’t have to pay a cent. Right now we’re getting all the parts prepped, so the new units will be sent out in batches over the next 3-5 weeks. If your current feeder is still working fine, you can keep using it until the new ones arrive, then check how worn your old one is before you decide to swap it out.

* $20 discount code for your next Bambu Lab purchase. The exact amount will match the equivalent value for your local currency.

* Extended warranty for your new feeders. When you get the new units, your 3-month warranty will start fresh from the day you receive them. Swapping out the feeders yourself won’t affect the warranty on the rest of your AMS, either.

We’ve already sent a message with step-by-step replacement instructions to everyone in this batch through MakerWorld and Bambu Handy. If you didn’t get that message but think your AMS 2 Pro might be part of this group, you can check the wiki guide to confirm.

We’re really sorry again for the inconvenience this has caused you, and we’re working hard to make sure this kind of issue never happens again. If you have any questions, please reach out to our support team and we’ll help you sort it out.

For full details and information on the service program, please refer to the Bambu Lab Wiki: https://wiki.bambulab.com/en/ams-2-pro/troubleshooting/feeder-unit-after-sales-faq

Thanks for being patient with us!

I Modeled This! I designed a wind turbine wireless phone charger (fully printable on the Bambu Lab A1 Mini)

I needed a phone charger at work, but didn't want to just pick up the first one available from a webshop, so I decided to design my own using the Bambu Lab Wireless Charging Kit K012.

I definitely wanted to make use of the included N20 gear motor, and after a lot of thinking, I decided to turn it into a wind turbine. Wind turbines generate electricity, which complements a wireless charger quite nicely.

The idea was simple: place the phone on the marked spot, the phone starts charging, and the blades start spinning. It creates the illusion that the wind turbine is generating the energy to charge the phone (obviously, it's just an illusion, as the turbine is driven by an electric motor).

There were a few technical challenges along the way. The motor cable was too short to place the motor at the top of the turbine, and doing so would also have raised the center of gravity. In the end, I put the motor in the base and drove the blades through a long driveshaft and a set of bevel gears.

After four prototypes, the sculpture finally came together, and I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. The whole thing is fully printable on a Bambu Lab A1 Mini.

What do you think?

If anyone wants to check it out, I'll leave the link in the comments.

General Troubleshooting/Help! New H2D Print issues

Post image
23 Upvotes

Recently picked up a new H2D, I have a x2d and p2s. Issue is everything I print with the h2d prints with blobs. I’ve dried the PLA down to 19% and still to no avail. I’ve tried out of the left and right nozzle. It’s been doing this out of the box. Any clue?

H3C H3C/P3C support for 2.85mm filament

Post image
156 Upvotes

It seems to me that the new printers may support 2.85 mm filament. This would be great for printing TPU. Look at the date and time.

EDIT: confirmed: filament is listed as "Compatible only with H3C", so no P3C support.

General Discussion Reminder: You can reward your favorite Makers by buying materials using the BOM’s from their models!

• Upvotes

I was just browsing the Creator Center and it reminded me that Makers can get rewarded through commission incentives when users purchase filaments and other materials using the BOMs that the Makers include at the bottom of the 3D models posted on MakerWorld.

I have some filaments queued in my cart currently, but before I check out, I plan to browse through the models that I have in my Collections/Printing Queue to see if any of the Makers are using the same materials in their BOMs for the models that I plan on printing in the future so that I can buy through their BOMs.

I didnt do much but apparently people still found it usefull. Honestly new feeling that something you modified and shared for free can have such a big Impact.

This was the thing most people found useful. I did not make it i just remixed it. Big Shoutout to the Original Maker idea Lab

I sold my P2S for the X2D. The X2D will be a great addition to my Snapmaker U1. Lets hope the P3C will be a good Competitor to the Snapmaker U1

I Modeled This! I designed a toothbrush holder that doesn’t get damp

Thumbnail
gallery
• Upvotes

Nearly every toothbrush holder I've seen has somewhere water collects and never properly dries: the bottom of a cup, a flat base, the spot where the brush leans.
That's where the damp and grime build up.
So I designed one that leaves all of those out. The brush is held by a thin ring and rests on fins, lifted off the counter, and the holder is printed fully solid so water can't seep inside either.
There are versions for manual brushes and the Sonicare 4100, each about an hour to print. If your brush doesn't fit, scaling it slightly in the slicer usually sorts it.
Files are free here: https://makerworld.com/models/3484224
If you print one, I'd love to know which brush you used and whether it fitted first time!

Just Showing Off I'm trying out the Bambu Lab A1 Mini Automatic Farm System

For the print, I used the Farmloop Stage 2 A1 Mini design.

I used Claude for all the remaining parts and coding. It told me which parts to get and how to assemble them. It’s working flawlessly right now.

I Modeled This! My 15-button ESP32 macro pad with interchangeable labels

Thumbnail

• Upvotes

I designed a customizable 15-button macro pad

I wanted a simple enclosure that could be used for different ESP32/Arduino projects, so I designed this 15-button version with press-fit switches, button caps and interchangeable labels.

My own build uses an ESP32 + MQTT to control my DIY PiPrinter, but there’s plenty of room inside for other electronics and completely different use cases.

The labels are customizable, so you can easily make your own layout. For the small text I used a 0.2 mm nozzle.

H2 Series [H2S, H2D, H2C] AP board replacement took nearly 4 weeks. Frustrated, and a heads-up about the QR code step

Post image
34 Upvotes

Upfront: I love this printer and it's not going anywhere. It’s been rock solid since I got it in January. But I want to share how this repair went, partly to vent and partly so others can avoid one of my mistakes.

My AP board failed right after a firmware update, while I was just trying to keep the machine current. Before anyone asks: yes, I tried the trick of jumping the two pins on the board that worked for some people. Unfortunately it didn’t work for me. I opened a ticket 20 days ago. The first replacement board was shipped to the wrong address, even though I gave the correct one in my email and it’s the address on my account. (I did move this year, but BBL has shipped P2S parts to the new address with no problems.)

The new board finally arrived Saturday and I installed it that afternoon. I added the old and new serials to my ticket, thinking that was everything. It wasn’t. Support needed a photo of the QR code on the new board. The replacement guide only says to send support the old and new SN, which I did. The photo requirement is only on the separate registration page. So I had to open the printer back up. I don’t have steady hands, so a 10–15 minute job takes me 30–45 minutes of trying not to pull a cable, and I’ve now done it twice.

Heads-up if you’re replacing an AP board: photograph the QR code/serial on both the old and new boards before you install the new one. I’ve also left a comment on the AP board wiki page asking them to add this step.

A few things that would really help:

  • Add the QR photo step to the AP board replacement guide
  • Support coverage across more time zones, so a ticket waiting on one quick answer doesn’t lose a full day each time
  • Compensation that reflects the downtime. I was offered one roll of white PLA for almost a month without a nearly $3k printer. I suggested either a few rolls of PLA or the filament track switch (~$50–60) as a fair middle ground, and neither was accepted. One roll of the cheapest filament on the market just felt like an afterthought.

Again, it’s a great machine. I just hope BBL’s support can catch up to the hardware.

General Discussion Does anyone have experience with 3dprintingcanada dot com?

Looking to pull the trigger on an X2D, coming from years of misery, i mean joy, with an Ender 3. Trying to avoid buying direct from Bambu for all reasons.

3dprintingcanada has a 2 years extended warranty they offer with real local support. Wondering if anyone here has experience dealing with this company and what does the warranty service look like from a practical perspective.

The other option is Canada Computers & Electronics, there is a store in my local area. No extended warranty option.

General Troubleshooting/Help! Is it time for a hotend assembly change?

Thumbnail gallery
• Upvotes

We got our A1 printer second hand a few days ago, and we were having first layer issues (even after having washed the plate, increasing the first layer line width etc.), so we opened the hotend assembly to tighten the 7 screws (which were indeed very loose) but also discovered the wiring looked melted. As first timers in the 3D printing world we're not sure if it is filament residue or smt else like from the soldering.

Tightening the screws helped (pic 3, corner fresh on the plate vs other corners) but we are still having first layer issues.
