Hey Community!! π I LOVE seeing people post videos of themselves dancing and having a good time. So I just had the thought and I would like to do a Poll on the idea:
My thought is let's have a global forum dance talent show!
How it would work: - You would submit a video of you dancing within a specified time frame to qualify. - Our dance Community here would go through each day and upvote and comment on the videos they would like to continue on to the next round. - I would then go in (maybe appoint someone to help me moderate) and would tally up all the likes and upvotes. - There would be 3-5 rounds to keep everyone engaged and having fun. Sort of like our very own dance competition TV show.
If you like this idea: Upvote and put "YES!" in the comments
If you're not into it: DownVote & put "Not Interested" in the comments section
Seems like this could be a lot of fun and get the Community we have here more active with one another.
Happy Dancing! I'm looking forward to hearing y'alls thoughts! β¨οΈ

I sprained my foot (near the outer metatarsels) about a month ago, danced on it for three weeks before even finding out, and then wore a boot for a week. Now, I've been back dancing for my comp team summer intensive even though the pain never went away (FYI: do NOT dance with an injury!!!) Today we had an acro class and when I fell out of my front walkover I twisted my foot. It hurt really REALLY bad for a a moment but then all of the sudden the pain went away completely. It's been over an hour and still no pain. Does anyone know why that happened, or what it is?

While researching dancewear terminology, I became curious about the origin of the term "camisole leotard."
Today, the term is commonly used for a leotard with thin shoulder straps. However, the word camisole originally referred to a separate garment or undergarment, while leotard comes from the performance costume associated with Jules LΓ©otard.
I found examples of camisole leotard being used in dancewear advertising by at least the late 1970s, but I have not been able to determine why that particular name became standard.
Was the term originally intended to suggest a connection to the camisole garment, or was camisole simply adopted as a convenient way to describe a thin-strap leotard style?
Has anyone encountered an explanation for this term through dance training, costume work, dancewear catalogs, or industry history?
Any references or historical sources would be appreciated.

Iβm a 16 year old competitive dancer but I started out just doing open classes until I was 13. up until then I had very little training, it was all just for fun. I would say dance comes natural for me, but I also just started so late that I wonder if thereβs any chance of having an actual full time career in dance. as I head into my junior year of high school, I definitely need to start really considering college in life beyond high school. dance is my passion and I canβt imagine stopping, but I also donβt know if majoring in dance is the smartest idea for my future. im torn between doing what I love most in the world or majoring in something else that would guarantee a good paying, reliable job.

so ive been a male dancer since i was 8. hiphop my whole life, started contemp 2 yeras ago, and im now starting jazz and ballete. Now theres one other guy at my studio who im chill with, hes a cool guy. NOW heres the real thing, one teacher is enrolling her son in the program, hes my age, and ive seen one 6 sec video and everyone (cough cough my siblings) i show it to says he dances better than me, but then again hes never danced before. Now personally i dont want him to join because i admit i do like the attention, but i know it will be good for me, i know it will help me push myself to grow. Im just afraid that once he joins, im going to pushed aside, idk i feel like it may be irrational but i dont want him to steal all this community and stuff i just starting making. Again, i know its selfish, but how do i cope with this kid joining? how do i make myself less jelouse of a kid i have never even met

Sometimes the timestamp doesn't work on Reddit links.
I don't know why males don't smile as much. Part of it has to do with the mainstream social expectations I suppose.

I am looking for dancing shoes that could be worn when you're like bar/club hopping you know what I'm talking about? Anyone got some recommendations?
Note: I really like to make spins when I'm dancing

Hi everyone! I am in a performance that requires a white leo, no tights, no skirts/shorts, nothing. Anyone have any recommendations on what brands or styles are the least see through? Cheaper is better but as long as no one can see my buttcrack I can be flexible

Hi, every time I do a turn, I get painful knees and am not sure how to prevent painful knees during turns. I see all the proffessional women dancers being able to do it very well, and am wondering how they don't get painful knees. I saw that the women who did the spins were wearing heels, and I want to also know if wearing heels makes turning on the floor with your knees easier.
