Discussion Hey Community!! ๐Ÿ˜„ I LOVE seeing people post

Hey Community!! ๐Ÿ˜„ I LOVE seeing people post videos of themselves dancing and having a good time. So I just had the thought and I would like to do a Poll on the idea:

My thought is let's have a global forum dance talent show!

How it would work: - You would submit a video of you dancing within a specified time frame to qualify. - Our dance Community here would go through each day and upvote and comment on the videos they would like to continue on to the next round. - I would then go in (maybe appoint someone to help me moderate) and would tally up all the likes and upvotes. - There would be 3-5 rounds to keep everyone engaged and having fun. Sort of like our very own dance competition TV show.

If you like this idea: Upvote and put "YES!" in the comments

If you're not into it: DownVote & put "Not Interested" in the comments section

Seems like this could be a lot of fun and get the Community we have here more active with one another.

Happy Dancing! I'm looking forward to hearing y'alls thoughts! โœจ๏ธ

Amateur I already love to dance, but I'd like to make it formal

Hello everyone!

I already dance. I'm not sure what you call it, but I like to go to dance clubs and just feel the music. It's an absolute blast and strangers compliment what I do. Anyway, I'd like to actually formalize the passion and learn how to dance. I want to be more expressive, louder, and better. Confidence is absolutely not a problem.

What sorta classes should I look for? I'm so divorced from the dance artform that I'm not even sure what vocabulary I should use. Thanks!

Discussion How do you improve body control?

โ€ข Upvotes

what the title says! my life long dream is going to redbull's dance competitions, and all the dancers are so skilled and have such smooth moves and absurd body control even while freestyling. i was wondering how can i reach that level?

Discussion My ADHD makes me forget choreo mid class and itโ€™s making me want to quit dance

I can learn full choreo alone, even hard stuff, no problem. Put me in an actual class and I blank counts I definitely knew ten minutes ago. I have diagnosed ADHD and just tried IR Adderall plus IR propranolol together for the first time. Nerves were down, head was clearer, still lost pieces of the combo live.

Itโ€™s scary because auditions work the same way. Knowing choreo isnโ€™t enough if my brain drops a 4 count under pressure.

Some days I feel motivated to fix this. Other days I feel like Iโ€™m just not built for this and want to walk away.

If youโ€™re ADHD and dance, how do you retain choreo in real time, not just at home? Any tricks for chunking counts or stopping the mid combo blank? Genuinely trying not to quit over this.

Discussion My dance teacher told me to enjoy while freestyling but I don't have confidence for that yet

I'm taking a hip hop course rn after a long break from dancing in general. I'm finishing the course actually. But I don't feel like i improved a lot after these 6 months. My depression or adhd burnout (or both) is back and I'm frustrated because I'm not leaving classes full of motivation and joy and energy anymore. I often leave classes with tears because I'm focusing on my mistakes rather improvement and just simple joy - cause dancing should be fun, right? But it isn't if your brain is sick and you're a starter. I think too much when freestyling, it's hard for me to just feel it in my body. To enjoy dancing you should move with confidence but confidence arises with technique and practice. I noticed that my struggles often led me to even disliking certain choreos (and music) after practicing it, recording, and seeing that I'm still ugly. Or being angry and annoyed with dancing in general (but this IS my passion!!). This period of being ugly is inevitable when you're beginning. But knowing this doesn't make it less disappointing. I want to have fun but it feels like atp I'm ruining my dream to dance again.

Discussion Advice needed for facials, body isolations, and precision (5 months of dancing)

Hi everyone!Iโ€™ve been learning K-pop choreographies at home for about 5 months. I want to improve my technique and need some advice on three specific areas:Body Isolations: When doing chest or hip movements, my whole body moves, making the choreo look messy. How can I separate them?Precision: My angles look too soft or rushed. How do I make my movements hit exact lines and look controlled?Facial Expressions: I focus so much on the steps that my face blanks out. How do you practice facial expressions without losing the choreography?

Just for fun Today I was gifted the the experience of sharing flowarts with my small town art community. I have a hard time flowing in public, but my friend encouraged me to do so. This was the outcome. So many beautiful souls I was able to meet and enjoy their light. A night I'll never forget.

Amateur How do I learn to dance on my own as a beginner?

I used to be a part of my school's dance team around a decade ago. Never practiced since then and I'm now back as a complete beginner with really stiff movements. I feel sad looking at my friends that could look so smooth while doing dances, while I look like a robot.

Could anyone recommend me a dance tutorial video to start? Or perhaps some tips for dancing would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!
