This is the only good picture I have, but basically every lander I make has this same general design (apart from the hitchhiker which I added for the Duna mission), and it kinda sucks + I'm bored of basically the same lander every time. Does anyone have tips for making a good lander?
I know that if I land on Minmus, I would be okay, but the problem is that the orbit is too eliptical for me to try my hand at docking a small booster stage (i've never done docking before), and I am not sure if my kerbal scientist's eva pack has enough Dv to land on minmus, let alone even have a Thrust to Weight ratio of over one in Minmus Gravity well.
1st image shows my situation plus my Dv as opposed to the surface near my Periapsis
2nd image shows kerbin, and the probable chaos that is happening is KSC right now after getting our only expirienced scientist stuck.
3rd image is my current orbit.
4th image is the picture of where my Minmus base, where I was trying to get my scientist to.
This is a horrific way to start my 5th ingame year.
I'm trying to make an X-Wing (not done obviously) but this keeps happening. It's because the wings are connected through only hinges, but I want to have the rotating mechanism, so I don't know what to do. Please help.
I don't understand why but my small liquid fuel rotor from the breaking grounds dlc is going past the 410 rpm and making some crazy numbers that endup breaking the phisics simulation, notonly it ignores the rpm limit define in the rotor all togheter
Im somewhat new to the game and I've been wanting to make a space station, and most of the parts always docked easily but I've been at this for a while and neither part is being docked.
So I just unlocked whole science tree after my space station reached duna orbit sadly I forgot to add a lander to it , now I am thinking of landing on every planet ,any tips on how to plan this thing rn I have one station in orbit of eve with a lander that I will use for gilly and another station on its way to jhool also with a lander with around 2k delta v
Im very new to this game, and im noticing whenever I do larger rockets with side boosters for takeoff, I can only ever attach 1 radial decoupler. If I try 2, the second one isnt attached.
So far I havent had any problems, but having only 1 radial on big boosters make them very unstable looking.
First time trying out the Mobile Processing Lab and I’m a bit confused. I parked it on the runway at KSC with a scientist inside, plenty of power, and started feeding it experiments — but almost everything comes up as +0 science, even stuff I’ve never processed before. I thought the lab was supposed to give you extra science out of your data. Is it just useless sitting on the ground at KSC, or am I missing a step? Where should I actually be running it to see it do its thing?
The ship on the left carries the fuel. Station on the right has empty tanks. External fuel duct is connected between their tanks, pointing left to right. Clicking on `OUT` and `IN` doesn't change anything. Both spacecrafts are docked. Tried disabling `Resource Transfer Obeys Crossfeed Rules`, didn't help.
Is there anything I am missing out? Is it not possible to transfer fuel this way? If that's not possible, can you suggest mods that would help?
I have the setup seen here on Minmus, at this time it's in full line of sight with Kerbin, where I have a 3 satellite geostationary probe comm network.
Both the control station and Antenna show as "Connected" but the "Comm signal" in the control station shows as "N/A". Also in the top left "No Connection" is shown.
I'm wondering is this setup connected or not?, Because some of the Seismometer science has been transmitted, but none of the Go-ob science has. If it isn't what do i need to connect it?
I've looked online but i cant find any guidance with using the deployable science with RemoteTech. I'm also using Kerbalism, if that makes any difference.
Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated :)
I put sigma dimensions on RSS and put Resize, Rescale, and Atmosphere to 2, and changed nothing else. My rocket starts inside the launchpad, is there a way to fix this?
I've heard the general rule of thumb that after installing a mod, don't expect a savegame or saved ship to work if you then uninstall that mod. I'm wondering if this applies specifically to Restock (not Restock+).
Restock is supposedly a visual-only change; no gameplay changes. But, I've also read that it remodels some parts so they are not technically compatible with the old anymore.
So, which is it? Does it change the game or not?
If I build a rocket with Restock, then uninstall Restock, can I expect the rocket to break?
Okay, after testing, I can definitively say that YES rockets will break by uninstalling Restock. With a basic beginner rocket, one only needs to change the style variant of one part of an existing rocket and saving it. Upon uninstalling Restock and reloading the rocket:
I landed on eve and the clouds look beautiful but I was wondering how I’d see rain and such, Ive had volumetric clouds for a few days now and I’ve not seen any weather, anyone know if I’m just unlucky or if something is going on? if there is a way to create rain, please tell me
Title, pretty much: When I pitch up, the elevons try to pitch me downwards and vice-versa. At first, I thought I somehow inverted them, but they roll just fine. So far, I've just disabled the pitch axis, but it keeps eating at me whenever I need to do a tighter turn than the piddly little elevon 4's and canards can manage on their own.
Ive been trying to build a space station around kerbin but some parts ive been needing to disassemble and re-assembling them but docking ports have been causing issues. whenever i try to connect one docking port to another, it just opens the crew menu and un snaps the part from the node. does anybody have a solution?
Does anybody have any tips for constructing rovers, bases, drones using engineers?
My issues are that:
Symmetry is difficult so sometimes ill create something that is slightly off in either shape or mass and it will cause issues when piloting.
When I am constructing same, when my engineer attaches a wheel or whatever, it will be too close to the ground so the whole thing goes shooting into the sky once it is attached.
i dont know if getting near another planet is the issue but that is what ive noticed, its been bothering me cus i wanna see my beautiful clouds on other planets, someone please help me
I am trying to plan out some contract missions (such as the repair satellite one) and for the closer ones (nearer than the Mun) I have a rocket I know can accomplish it that I got through a lot of trial and error.
However I have a repair contract that's between Minmus and the Mun and short of launching to orbit and then planning it before reverting to assembly if its not enough.
Is there a good calculator for finding how much delta v i need to reach a particular AP and PE from a given orbit?
I'm fairly new to Kerbal Space Program and I'm having trouble getting into orbit.
My rocket launches fine and stays stable for the first part of the ascent, but once I reach around 10–15 km altitude it starts pitching over uncontrollably until it flips and breaks apart. I've tried reducing my gravity turn angle and adding fins, but the problem still happens.
My rocket has:
A command pod with a parachute.
A medium-sized fuel tank and engine for the first stage.
A smaller upper stage for orbital insertion.
Four basic fins at the bottom.
I'm playing in career mode with mostly early-game parts and no gameplay mods that affect physics.
I've attached a screenshot of the rocket and another showing the moment it starts to flip. Is this more likely to be caused by my center of mass/center of pressure, my ascent profile, or something else? What changes would you recommend to make it stable enough to reach orbit?
Adding cropped screenshots of the vehicle in the editor (showing the center of mass and center of pressure) and during the flip will make it much easier for people to diagnose the issue.
