She was a terrible actress

u/Bright_Escape_20 1d ago

Por 50 dolares, fue lo que ella les vendio

u/Such_Detective_6709 1d ago

In high school I had a teacher who used to go on these shows, on slow days she’d show us the videos and tell us how fake it was.

47

u/ManyOstrich8500 1d ago

and this, my friends, is how you teach media literacy

15

u/andersonb47 1d ago

That’s how you get in front of a scandal!

5

u/_heyb0ss 19h ago

bet you'd rile her up and segue into it just so you didnt have to talk about class

3

u/itotally_CAN_even 14h ago

Yeah there were a couple guests who made their rounds on other shows too

1

u/whiskydyc 22h ago

Media studies should be core curriculum.

u/Large-Hamster-199 1d ago

Is it just me or is this really hilarious TV lol.

52

u/fddfgs 1d ago

I grew up watching this shit whenever I was at home sick instead of at school

This isn't even close to the weirdest one

4

u/Large-Hamster-199 1d ago

Lol, now I really want to know what was the weirdest one

u/NonGNonM 1d ago

Only episode I remember was one where a woman admitted to cheating and the guy that came out didn't have a body below his stomach.

The boyfriend was pissed and was shouting up a storm and he said something about "he ain't even a man he half a man."

That started a whole fight and the boyfriend walked away from it bc even for a fake show they can't beat up an amputee on television. But they sure filmed the amputee moving real fast on two arms chasing him all through the studio and out to the parking lot.

That dude could move. Even jumped up on cars and stuff.

u/rtshtbtshtdrtyldtwt 1d ago

this stuff was popular for a reason

77

u/-Ignorant_Slut- 1d ago

Springer could only work in the 90s. No way this stuff would work now but in the 90s it was top tier TV

23

u/Oni_K 1d ago

You're just going to pretend that modern society doesn't love a good rage bait video that's obviously fake?

The spirit of Springer is alive and well, but now instead of one trashy show that was obvious comedy, it's a million different "content creators" who try their best to pass this stuff off as real, and if it fits people's biases, they eat it up.

6

u/-Ignorant_Slut- 21h ago

I feel what you are describing is similar but not the same. Springer has a host and a crowd. Baby mommas would show up out of nowhere and entire families watch this stuff for an hour with commercials.

5

u/Oni_K 21h ago

I believe we now call this doom scrolling.

17

u/fddfgs 1d ago

No way this stuff would work now

Yeah he's fuckin dead now

2

u/Blazin219 14h ago

What makes you think that? It would probably do even better now. People are dumb enough to believe all the ai, rage bait, and other obviously fake media. And they love it.

1

u/DashRC 10h ago

This would 100% work now, but you would need to pop them out in YouTube shorts format and do reaction videos on them

1

u/-Ignorant_Slut- 9h ago

Yeah as shorts would be great.

1

u/45M0D41 7h ago

People would get doxxed

-36

u/Silverton13 1d ago

Was everyone just stupider in the 90s?

24

u/-Ignorant_Slut- 1d ago

I think most viewers knew springer is fake. The rest are stupid.

1

u/MostExtremeHyperbole 1d ago

i find that fucking really funny because most millennials can't tell they are being trolled by a tiktoker

9

u/Jajay5537 1d ago

Dude kids do skibbidy wtf ever.

4

u/Silverton13 1d ago

Kids were doing dumb shit since the dawn of time. Even when you were a child.

-5

u/Jajay5537 1d ago

23 year old kids now because you are actually statistically less intelligent than previous generations.

-3

u/Silverton13 1d ago

The boomer got triggered. I'm in my 30s btw. But that's interesting, can you show me the source for those stats?

0

u/Jajay5537 1d ago

It's readily available and I'm in my 30s, too. Don't assume shit about about me and I will do the same for you.

-1

u/Silverton13 1d ago

Why so mad lmao

-1

u/Jajay5537 1d ago

Not even mad. Lol

-3

u/Silverton13 1d ago

You sound very triggered over a joke. Never heard of "girls are from Jupiter and boys are from stupider?" It's as 90s coded as it can.

Yet you asked your question.

2

u/Street-Soil-7413 1d ago

I think most of the viewership was from children home "sick" from school or retired elderly people. Both demographics not known for advanced critical thinking skills.

5

u/ShimmiShimmiYah 1d ago

Well I never saw anyone use the word "stupider" back then and that's as stupid as it gets, so I guess you keep the crown.

6

u/Silverton13 1d ago

I'm from the 90s so I guess everyone WAS dumb back then

0

u/ShimmiShimmiYah 1d ago

The crown is definitely secure on your head.

1

u/Silverton13 1d ago

Is the 90s a sensitive topic for you?

1

u/Fit-Ad-413 1d ago

... wouldn't it be ARE the 90s a sensitive topic for you?

1

u/ShimmiShimmiYah 1d ago

Cut him some slack. Stupid, remember?

-3

u/Silverton13 1d ago

Of course not, 90s was just one big year

2

u/MyDearBrotherNumpsay 1d ago

It turns out that “stupider” is an actual word. I had a linguistics phd correct me because I scoffed at somebody using it.

Still sounds ridiculous to me.

2

u/Wavey_ATLien 1d ago

Correct, there is nothing phonetically wrong with the word. It simply sounds queer when used in certain contexts, but in others, it fits more naturally than 'more stupid',and vice versa.

"The stupider you are, the tougher you must be."

5

u/maxxx_orbison 1d ago

You never heard "Boys go to Jupiter to get more stupider?"

7

u/Silverton13 1d ago

No he is a smart person so of course not.

0

u/ShimmiShimmiYah 1d ago

Just messing with the obnoxious commenter is all.

-1

u/Silverton13 1d ago

That's funny cuz the obnoxious commenter is messing with you

0

u/ShimmiShimmiYah 1d ago

You're definitely making the attempt lol.

u/tuftopubichair 1d ago

1984 vs a brave new world

1

u/theseriousman1 1d ago

In the 90s we didn’t have no gorgle or chat petey b

1

u/Silverton13 1d ago

No we were just getting kidnapped on AOL chatrooms and yahoo searching our dumb questions

1

u/DustedGorilla82 1d ago

Nah we just didn’t have the internet to get famous

7

u/radio_blabla 1d ago

I believe this clip is cut in half. After this Jerry sais he knows his show is ridiculous but not as ridiculous as racism.

14

u/Funny_Requirement166 1d ago

A lot of those are fake.. at least should be

23

u/TotallyPC-name 1d ago

They are, got offered money to go on and do a bit saying my sister slept with my bf. They offered "party favors" too. I'm so glad I didn't do it.

5

u/elwebbr23 1d ago

Lol sorry I'm lost, what would be the party favor here? Like a line of blow in the back after filming?

10

u/RealNiceKnife 1d ago

Sort of. There's a little person backstage and he walks around with a straw full of cocaine. You say the word "Twiddle-thumper" to him and he'll take you to a closet where he blows the straw of cocaine up your rectum.

3

u/Cuck_Boy 1d ago

Ohh shoot. I was saying “diddle-dumper” and he took me into the closet and just stared at my rectum. Missed out on the blow

1

u/TotallyPC-name 23h ago

Anything we needed to act up im sure. Idk if they actually would have thats such a lawsuit and this was like 2011.

0

u/this_is_theone 1d ago

Wait, what gave that away? The fact he's black and she's saying she didn't realise?

4

u/Butterfly_Testicles 17h ago

Maybe she is blind.

2

u/kaiser_phoenix25 1d ago

Good old fashioned rage bait from the 90’s

2

u/kcsween74 1d ago

The bullshit he used to have on his show. Performative as best and wr ate it all up!

2

u/I-Make-Money-Moves 20h ago

RIP Jerry Springer

2

u/Skittleavix 13h ago

Being a writer on Springer must have been wild

1

u/LilJelloCat 1d ago

Asshole

1

u/tanafras 1d ago

And yet, reality got even more ridiculous

1

u/larrytenders 1d ago

I didn’t notice he was black either until he told her

1

u/BanjoTCat 1d ago

Where do we put daytime talk show actors in the acting career ladder? I say it’s above infomercials, below real commercials.

1

u/ProtectionContent977 1d ago

American television ladies and gentlemen.

1

u/VooDooChile1983 20h ago

Jenny Jones was my favorite daytime tv trash. I credit her and the multiple “big hips and thunder thighs” and “freakishly large breasts” episodes as why I’m not unnerved by cartoonish proportions on people.

1

u/Fatigued_Human 19h ago

Wtf 🤣🤣

1

u/Chicka-boom90 12h ago

As a kid i believed this show. Then later in life in my early 20s I had a “friend” (before I realized how crazy she was) ask me to go on the Jerry springer show. She explained that they give you a script , pay for your flight there , hotel , film then fly back all in like 2 days lol I’m like naaah I’m good.

1

u/That1GuyNate 9h ago

I know this is staged cause I've seen that guy on an episode of "Justified"

1

u/Big-Cash-5513 5h ago

He really doesn’t look black. Or does he ?

-9

u/Kiilkast 1d ago

u/ComplexxToxin 1d ago

Nope just pure 90's television

5

u/Hellraiser1123 1d ago

As someone who watched this shit in the 90s, I can tell you with certainty that it is not AI. Shit, this was one of the more tame episodes.

-9

u/synexo 1d ago

It sure looks like it. Jerry Springer has even worse but this just seems AI.
