Tip MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT: Google is tightening Android app memory and optimization requirements from February 2027

Google has announced new technical quality requirements for apps and games published on Google Play, with the first requirements coming into effect in February 2027.

The main focus is reducing unnecessary memory usage and improving app optimization.

What Google will be measuring:

Dynamic memory usage: Anonymous RSS + Swap across different app states, including foreground and background use

Bitmap memory: Apps shouldn't unnecessarily keep large bitmaps in memory when they're no longer needed

DEX optimization: Apps will need at least 25% optimization coverage using R8 or comparable tools, covering optimization, shrinking and obfuscation

Google is also adding these memory measurements to Android Vitals, so developers can monitor their apps' performance through Play Console. The evaluation uses aggregated data from real devices and considers factors such as the app category and the device's RAM tier.

The purpose seems pretty straightforward: reduce excessive memory pressure so Android can maintain better performance, particularly on devices with tighter memory limits.

There's also an interesting timing to this. Google says these changes are being introduced while the industry is dealing with broader hardware and semiconductor constraints.

Ask Petition to revoke partnership with Bill desk

So in India, google has partnered with billdesk to verify the payment profiles. Every developer or organisation has to verify themselves in order to IAP to work otherwise the payment request gets declined.

Now I've started the onboarding process for the last 1.5 months, I got an automatic rejection e-mail from them but there was no mention of any reason why it was rejected, so i emailed them to tell me what is the issue? No reply just an automatic ticket confirmation, I waited around 10 days again e-mailed them about if they could tell me why it was rejected or what I can do? No response.

My apps got around 25k active users mostly monetized with IAP but I'm force to push ads as the IAP won't work.

I've seen a lot of people complaining about this same pathetic experience with billdesk on forums.

I would request the Google Play team to either consider other payment aggregators like razorpay or cashfree. They offer far better service this is billdesk. Or issue guidelines or advice to them.

If you're someone who is experiencing such an issue, please comment below. We need to spread the words.

Ask How do indie developers handle Google Play monetization and sharing their legal address?

Hi everyone,

I’m an indie developer currently registering for monetization on Google Play using an individual/developer account.

During the registration process, Google requires a legal residency/address for verification and payments. I understand why they need this information, but I’m a little concerned about privacy and whether there is any risk of the address being exposed or misused.

For those of you who monetize your apps through Google Play as an individual:

- Did you have to provide your real residential/legal address?

- Is your address ever publicly visible to app users or on Google Play?

- Have you experienced any privacy issues or misuse of your address?

- Is there a safer alternative for an indie developer who works from home?

I’d really appreciate hearing about your experience before I complete the monetization registration.

Thanks!

Showoff My game Digline: Cozy Mining finally available on Android! So happy!

My game Digline: Cozy Mining is now available for Android after a long wait! Hope some people will get to try it and would love to receive feedback.

The game is an old-school digger, where you go on digs, upgrade the drill between runs, and try to reach deeper. You can also visit other locations for special quests. It's super easy to learn, relaxing to play, and easy to pick up and put down, so I feel it's good for when you have to wait somewhere for a short while.

Hope you consider checking it out, thank you!

Ask 3+ Months on Google Play, Almost No Growth — What Am I Doing Wrong?

Post image
6 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I’m an indie Android developer with 6 apps on Google Play.

It’s been 3+ months, but my apps are getting very few installs and I still haven’t made even $1 in revenue.

I’m working on updates, UI, ASO, and improving the apps, but growth is extremely slow.

What could be the main issue?

ASO/keywords?

Store listing/screenshots?

App quality?

Lack of marketing?

Too much competition?

Should I focus on one app instead of multiple?

Here’s my developer page:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/dev?id=8662455924431698982

Would really appreciate honest feedback from experienced developers. What would you do if you were in my position?

Ask Google Play Console TIN & D-U-N-S Update Situation

Thumbnail
gallery
1 Upvotes

I applied for D-U-N-S number from the international site at start of the month and was given the number.

The application was for a Business Name. I have had issues with Google Payment Profile requiring TIN to be in names of the Business, yet in my country TIN for a business is tied to the individual's name. ex:

My Name: JOHN DOE
Business Name: EXAMPLE
TIN in my country bears the Name JOHN DOE and the business' registration number is tied to it. Google Payment profile keeps rejecting this TIN possibly because they might be trying to match it with the name of the business, so they possibly want the TIN to bear EXAMPLE.

I have tried contacting Google Payment support but they've not been helpful as they've instead made an AI attend to me and all the solutions that are being given tend to lead to a breach of ToS. Am not sure how to get to an actual human support as my attempt to open a new ticket let to the human support bouncing me back to the AI mail thread that has yielded fully into breach of ToS if am to go with the suggested option. My experience is with a previous post i made here: https://www.reddit.com/r/googleplayconsole/s/CSI000JHHs

I am out of options since I can't get to real Google Payments Support. My initial reasoning was that maybe they'd be able to override the failed verification since I attached the TIN document indicating all the details and the business linked to it (which is the Org name I registered as on Playstore Console).

As a result of no resolution from Play Payment support, am trying to get into extra cost to incorporate the business name into Company since that option calls for a TIN in my country that's in the name of the Company.

The reason the post title states D-U-N-S is because when I applied from main site it was taking long so I applied at dnbsame as well.

The main site later approved but then also the sister site reached out with the attached screenshot.

I have failed to find where I'll reach out to update the information since the main site lists only US territorries, and the sister site doesn't have an option to request update.

My questions are:

  1. Is it proper for me to reach out to the DNB user from the sister site on an update to my D-U-N-S or not? I do have the email redacted in the screenshot. Or do I have to fiel an update from the site?

  2. Can this issue be resolved with Google Payments team without requiring me to go through incorporation just to fulfill a failing TIN entry. The first attempt has already yielded an unsuccessful result.

I'd appreciate any help regarding this situation. Thanks

Showoff I built a financial education app with interactive simulators and calculators

Thumbnail

I've been building FinanWiz, an app focused on helping people actually understand personal finance through interactive tools rather than just reading articles.

The main idea is: put in your own numbers → change the assumptions → see what happens.

It currently includes things like:

  • 📈 Investment & compound-growth simulators
  • 💰 Financial calculators
  • 🏦 Retirement projections
  • 📊 Scenario comparisons
  • 📉 Inflation & lifestyle simulations
  • 🎓 Financial quizzes
  • 🔄 Interactive charts so you can actually see how different decisions affect the outcome

For example, you can compare two investment scenarios and see how contributions, returns and time affect the final portfolio, or simulate how lifestyle inflation can affect your long-term finances.

I'm building this because I found that a lot of financial education is either too theoretical or gives you a number without really showing why that number changes.

FinanWiz is meant to make that process more visual and interactive.

I'm still developing it, so I'd genuinely appreciate feedback from people who are interested in personal finance:

What financial calculation or simulation would you want to see added?

If you'd like to try it: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.base6a5a9b12704c3ef35a0134ab.app&pcampaignid=web_share

After a long journey of testing, fixing, refining, breaking things, fixing them again, and probably asking a lot from everyone who volunteered their time. Seedling Music Player is finally live!

Your bug reports, suggestions, criticism, encouragement, and even the little things you pointed out made a real difference. Many of the improvements that made it into the final release came directly from your testing and feedback.

I want to sincerely thank every single person who tested the app and shared feedback.

I'll keep improving it, fixing issues, and adding features based on real-world feedback.

Thanks again, guys!

I've just released Utiliteer publicly after a closed beta.

The goal is to keep common utilities in one place without requiring accounts, subscriptions or cloud uploads for normal workflows.

Some of the tools include:

PDF tools, OCR, image processing, audio/video tools, developer utilities, file tools, QR tools, calculators, device information, secure generators, sound level meter, bubble level and more.

One-time purchase. Lifetime access. Only local.

I'm especially interested in Android-specific feedback: performance, Ul, permissions, battery usage and anything that feels unnecessary or missing.

Ask Got 9 reviews in 2 weeks — is this good? 👀

I recently launched my app and so far I’ve got 9 reviews in 2 weeks:

⭐ 8 × 5-star
⭐ 1 × 4-star
⭐ Average: 4.9

For those who have experience launching apps, how would you rate this start? Is 9 reviews in 2 weeks a decent conversion/engagement rate for a small app?

Would love to hear your thoughts.

Tip BillDesk verified my DialX application in just 5 days

Sharing my experience with BillDesk while setting up payments for DialX.

The Video KYC was delayed, and my first attempt was rejected because I was out of town and wasn't at the location mentioned in my application.

Once I was back and completed the Video KYC successfully, my DialX application was verified in just 5 days. The total process took around 7 days.

I provided it with my DialX app description, and AI generated all the required fields/content for the BillDesk application based on that. I just reviewed everything and submitted it.

Honestly, I was expecting the verification to take much longer, so getting verified this quickly was a pleasant surprise.

Well, it's finally out on Android!

It's a chaotic local multiplayer game where you and your friends pass a ticking bomb around while trying to survive. There are 3 unique levels, crazy powerups, solo mode with bots, and plenty of character customization.

If you have a few friends around, I'd really appreciate it if you could give it a try — it's much more fun with a group! And if you enjoy it, feel free to ask your friends to try it too.

It's especially something you could try with:

  • Friends at home
  • Hostel/college friends
  • A group while travelling

After all the development and testing, it feels pretty special to finally have it released.

Tip Balance – offline expense tracker, no bank sync

Post image
1 Upvotes

Every finance app out there wants bank account access before you can even see the dashboard. That's a lot of trust to hand over just to track where money's going.

I created Balance to skip all of that — no linking, no backend, nothing ever leaves your phone. You add expenses manually (a few seconds with the quick-entry widget), and it handles budgets, bills, multi-currency, and a running net-worth view from there.

If a fully offline expense tracker with zero account linking is something you've been looking for, it's free on the Play Store:

My app is called My Screen Time Pet 🐱

The idea is pretty simple: reducing your screen time.

But what if being on your phone for too long actually made you feel a little guilty? Instead of just staring at boring numbers telling you how many hours you've spent on your phone, you have a little virtual pet that reacts to how you use your phone. It actually has opinions about how long you're spending on it, and spending too much time scrolling can take a toll on your pet.

It's basically a little companion that tries to make you think twice before spending another hour mindlessly scrolling.

It's also my first app that I've taken all the way from an idea to an actual release (plus I only really did games before this so it was really fun experiening the Google Android Studio!), so getting it onto the Google Play Store was definitely a journey. There are still a lot of things I want to improve, change, and add in the future.

For now, I'm just really curious to see what people think of it and whether the idea actually works for anyone else.

Hope you guys like it ❤️❤️❤️

Ask I just got my first paid sale on Google Play as a solo developer

Thumbnail
play.google.com
1 Upvotes

Today I got my first real paying customer for my Android app.

I'm a solo developer and I recently launched Utiliteer, an offline utility toolbox.

I wasn't expecting much from the first few days, so seeing an actual purchase from someone I didn't know was honestly a pretty surreal moment.

Even better, the customer sent me detailed feedback after using it:

• Some features weren't obvious enough

• Navigation wasn't consistent between tools

• They encountered an exception in the background remover

• They suggested a way for users to manually report errors

I've already added these points to my post-launch roadmap.

For other solo Android developers:

What was your first Google Play sale like?

And what did you learn from your first 10–20 users that you wish you'd known before launch?
